Nice.

Don't get too excited just yet, though, folks. No orgasms, you hold onto that jizzism.

I watched about half of it. I'll save the rest for later. :)

A plastic Revenant and a new world record in DOF, I'm stoked!

12 seconds of video... Two seconds of actual footage, how lame. Reminds me of them lame DNF teasers back in the day.

I have the feeling it's going to "play" something a bit like Wolfenstein... But that's just me.

Remember that trailers come very early in development, and the ones responsible for the trailer are not the ones working on the game. They will use whatever available footage there is combined with a marketing strategy.

It's a teaser, not a trailer. Sort of a 'pre-trailer'

Demons - check
Shotguns - check

There may be hope yet.

It's a teaser trailer. Which doesn't change what I said.

A teaser for a trailer... God this stuff is getting annoying.

You are wearing a trilby, indoors to boot. Your opinion is invalid.

When John Carmack made that famous quote, I'm surprised he didn't also say "keycards".

More like Rage I guess. :)

The Revenant looks badass. And it has the most recognizable weapon in the series (SSG). That's a start.

Do you want to see what Doom 4 looked like in motion before it was rebooted in late 2011? Check out this video. The music is incredible! I wish all themes had this kind of treatment.

It really reminds me of Rage. I guess that would be Willits influence on the design.

I just don't get it. Looking at it, it feels absolutely nothing like a Doom game at all. None of the cornerstones of the franchise or the design ideas really seem to be at play at all. It's just kind of a generic orangey-brown post apocalyptic thing with people wearing raggedy trashy clothing ala Max Max.

I mean, I still don't have high hopes the game will be any good yet, but at least in what we have seen up to this point they're at least staying somewhat true to the audio and visual iconography of the series. Even if that argument can be made that is simply mere fan service.

Well, Willits was busy with Rage when this particular incarantion was in the works. This was Kevin Cloud's version of the game, which is kind of baffling because he worked on all the Doom games up to that point. It's clearly going after the Call of Duty crowd. In late 2011, after 3 years of work, Bethesda scrapped the game after Rage shipped. It was then rebooted multiple times before they put together that vertical slice for last years Quakecon. I have a feeling after we see the E3 presentation it'll be clear that id basically gave up and copied Brutal Doom.

So it's gonna be like the original Doom with more blood and modern weapon handling? How is that a bad thing?

Fatalities are what most people who don't like brutal doom don't like it for. That and it's very buggy.

You mean the optional fatalities that you don't have to use?

Stopping for fatalities in Doom is like calling out the Triple A every time there is a car crash in a Mad Max movie. "Ain't nobody got time for that!!"

Some of them were pretty goddamn amusing to me.

Just as long as, if they even have them in Doom 4, they don't become really silly like in Serious Sam, where you can literally daisy chain an entire group of enemies with fatalities one after the other. That was just dumb.

Maybe because Brutal Doom isn't true Doom?

Brutal Doom has a level of silliness that doesn't belong in Doom IMO.

Basically someone on Steam forums asked how to do a translation for Strife and I poked around to see if it would be easy enough. Thanks for MetHy for the quick translation so I could do my proof of concept.

After seeing that leaked video I'm glad Bethesda canned that version of Doom 4.

While Brutal Doom is probably considered by some or many to not be "true Doom" (I'd argue the same thing about Duke Plus as pertains to Duke Nukem 3D), that leak was as far away from Doom as Doom can get.

Duke Plus blows. It's literally Feature Creep the Game with the ADHD Expansion pack.

Ugh....that's terrible. Not one demon in sight. Just some generic alien-looking obelisk in the cityscape (like THAT wasn't done before). Does anybody know what they're doing over there?

It's a gameplay mod, but 99% of the game is still the same.
