Sixty-Four, there was no reason to down-vote me. I stated a fact. Also, it wasn't even addressed to you.

Doom with uh... midi sound effects...

Lunick - Jeez! Sounds like they are trying to play Doom on a Casio instead of a qwerty keyboard!

Sixty-Four - The caco design was 'borrowed' from that D&D artwork. Knowing all that, and also taking into account the 'Angry Tomato', It's still one of my favourite Doom baddies. Jigglypuff pulling a marker pen on you was supposed to be humorous disapproval, not real.

It should probably be safer to assume it's not legit, but in the same "MIDI sound effects" topic linked by Lunick:

Original DMX sources have been found. To the ones not sure what I'm talking about, DMX is the sound library used for the original DOS versions of Doom, as well as other games based on the Doom code base like Heretic.

This was never the property of id Software, though, so the DMX sources couldn't be released, the way the Doom+Heretic+Hexen sources were. The original links to the source tree and zip archive mentioned in the topic above are now protected / require login, but there's a mirror of the zip file mentioned a bit later.

Even without this, though, it is interesting to see new discoveries, like the presence of some MIDI sound effect playback support, being made even through this year. An earlier example from that same year is the reveal of the Doom 0.3 alpha, previously assumed to be lost.

I know...and I thought it was funny to but I like Jiggly Puff. The song is still one of the most peaceful melodies lol. So cute.. Don't get me wrong about Caco though simply saying he isn't one of my favorites its fine if it is for others in fact i'm the oddball here saying this anyway. Most people do love it

Doom with piano sounds? :) Never expected that.

Zzzzzzzzz... (jk :) . I remember that song from the anime. It is peaceful indeed but I always thought it was funny what Jigglypuff does afterwards.)

I think it'd be funny if instead of Jigglypuff they'd have Cacodemons who would sing...and then systematically go around burning and disemboweling people when they fell asleep. :)

I think it could be argued that the cacodemon is the most recognizable doom enemy, if not the most iconic.

That's true though I said i'm the oddball lol I even like shooting him in Doom 64 just saying not so spectacular to me as a character. Cacodemon may hold his own some and is a solid character in Doom but in the end he isn't really a solid new creation imo. I actually like the other but I admit its pretty cool seeing his head in a game.

Everything about that is 90s.
The game, the visual artifacts, Romero's mullet, the CRTs

The most 90s thing I've seen is a video from the QuakeWorld launch where someone's playing Quake with a joystick. I guess advertising really works!

I don't know when DooM modders started getting the idea of creating maps in the Serious Sam style with wide open spaces and 10,000+ enemies to kill.

But I hate it.

I dig the isometric art style though.

Not fond of that either. It takes no skill to make maps like that. Doom 2 had a few areas like that but they weren't, like, the whole game.

There's another Alpha test tonight.
They actually had open signups for this alpha test that was first come first serve, and it already ran out.
What a poorly planned out test. Pre order a full price game, gain access to the beta, lose out on access to the alpha to someone else who happened to get to a website first.
I'm just butthurt but still.

My early review

DOOM 4 MP: It really gives you a chance to enjoy Halo mp on pc in a demonic way not bad.

I got it too.

I mean, it's okay. I think the player movement speed is kind of shit, but other than that, yeah. It's deathmatch.

Did you get it for steam? i might see you there so I can blow you up :) Joking

I agree yeah player movement is slow it needs to be faster but it isn't dead slow just mid slow. Two weapons limit is bad here, at least in DNF mp you had the option of what 2 weapons you had and could pick them up in the levels in a swap and drop fashion. Here is just choose a load out. But the shotgun+RPG is a great load out :) But I would like faster speed and ability to pick up weapons inside of the levels.

Btw me comparing it to Halo isn't thrashing it, it really reminds me of a Demonic Halo. I actually like Halo.

Sorry man, i accidently downvoted you, but i totally agree with you. I have the PS3 version of wolfenstein which included the Doom code, but i can't convert it to a steam code or xbox one version, which sucks. As soon as i read that you could sign up for the Doom alpha last night i checked and it was already closed. This was a few minutes after it was announced. This is pissing me off and i totally understand why you are. I heard they are doing some burst test tomorrow to test the servers, so let's hope they allow way more people in the Doom alpha.

The link got shared everywhere Doom news travels fast not to mention it got posted on the Doom facebook pages to. I just got lucky and saw it 2 minutes after it was posted (Doom facebook pages) I did it right away there were a lot of people doing it seconds after on the main Doom facebook alone. I do got to admit its unfair to the people who reserved wolfenstein for it though, I should have signed up with 3 emails and gave some out heheh.

Here is the facebook page I caught it on myself but it was everywhere on all of them.... https://www.facebook...game/?pnref=lhc

And I only upvoted Hulk to correspond with your accident downvote hehe

Got a PS4 code (finally after spamming) and yeah, its a cool little test

But really it just makes me want to play the singleplayer more. Its not the ROTT remake fast, but still faster than most games, so it makes me think just how hard the hardest difficulty will be with its reaction times needed.

I think I read somewhere the ps4 codes got stirred up with the steam codes, they wouldn't download and it was reported quickly. You probably didn't get the message because they fixed it first, they had to fix the ps4 codes :) that or I am hearing voices again xD

After playing a bit more time, its pretty darn good I see switching weapons and your double jump is a technique I ma coming in first place sometimes lol but the game is not the best I like classic games more then modern. But my problem is... its still kind of reminding me of Toxikk mp. But I will buy this game the sp will more then likely be good. But I wish they would add more of a vintage touch on the mp a grasp on it that says its 100% DOOM. As of now I think some soul is missing and otherwise its a great game.
