That was the big selling point wasn't it? Similar to the DNF club thing with Borderlands.

I think that was a joke. Anyone who got and redeemed a beta code can play it, no extra complications necessary.

All these shots you keep posting have already been linked to the day the footage came out.
In fact, the third image in your post you yourself already posted before.

My apologies...I thought the 3rd shot looked familiar, but they were all added less than an hour ago(at the time of my post) on the official DooM and id software facebook pages. And I have been following this game pretty closely, but I'm almost positive that I'd never seen the first two screens until now.

Honestly, while the new Cyberdemon looks badass, I preferred the old one, because it looked more like a Christian demon. The new one is a bit "generic".

That's probably one of my few really big gripes with both Doom 3 and this one. The classical "Minotaur" inspiration in the design has been taken out almost entirely. The Nu-Baron from Doom 3, which is literally just "Muscles on muscles with a generic alien influenced head" look has taken over. The Cyberdemon reminds me of something you might see in Diablo or Warcraft. The hulking classical minotaurs were way more badass.

But that's okay. I can live with that.

I just don't like that the zombies, imp, and hell knights have similar skull-looking heads. Give the imps bright red eyes and put some type of horn, even short stubby ones, on the hell knights and it would differentiate them a lot more from eachother.

Here's some concept of a lab area; a big contrast to the yellows and browns of whats been shown so far.

Here's a few stills from the trailer; Right in the middle is what I presume is the Baron and he looks exactly like he does in the original Doom. The Hell Knights and Barons are now completely different looking.

And here's a gif of the short glimpse of the Pinky. It looks closer to original Doom's design than it does Doom 3's. Honestly, I like both designs, and I wouldn't mind if they had both in the game with the Doom3 pinky being a slower but stronger version.

It really seems like id is looking at inspiration from Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 3 all equally, with a small bit of Brutal Doom in there for some more flavor. The combination of Doom 3 designs mixed with original Doom designs is evident, and it has me more stoked than before.

Looks a lot like the chainsaw lab photo from that early DNF build.

speaking of dnf in this topic when the trailer came out there was a few things i noticed that reminded me of DNF I am sorry i cant remember them right now but it was like 3 things that reminded me of it. I agree that the cyber demon looks a bit generic. To me it looks a bit like a dota 2 monster :(

I am also not liking the chainsaw I mean i like how it looks but the killing of it is very scripted insted of being free. like its a skit when it kills a demon. i dont know about you but i would rather just swing it around while it chops them in half like sw13 and the sword.

Dont get me wrong i am going to buy this either way i would pay 90$ for special version to :)

You mean this shot of Area 51 released in 1999?

Tbh, I don't really see much of a similarity, besides the whole overall alien/sci fi theme. Tons of set designs for games, movies, comics, and TV shows have that exact same general aesthetic. What's kinda weird though is that DooM will actually have a chainsaw, yet DNF's was cut(no pun intended). A bit of irony to Broussard's "cutting is shipping" quote. :)

What I'm working on. It's for Strife, but it uses the doom engine, so yeah. Download Demo in description.

^ What if he finds another operational cabinet inside that playable unit? Then it'll be a true Doom-ception! :)

Yes, but what if he finds a cabinet that plays Doom 3 inside a Doom 1 game.

Fox, that's a nice Caco.

Heh, after the 21 sites I found covering it, I didn't expect to see it here too.

That was because I can't replicate use key behavior, so I just made the doors open by default for now. It's still a WIP, so hey, I might be able to fix it eventually.

Also, that video is pretty outdated now, and has the awful horizontal squishing effect that I solved soon after.
This is what the current dev build looks like

And here's a more recent video:

What about accurate enemy placement, weapon pickups, properly playing sound effects and otherwise? I'm sorry, I'm just not convinced at the moment.

The sound issue was fixed recently, and what do you mean by proper monster placement? I literally copy-pasted E1M1, those are the exact locations for the monsters.

Weapon pickups are another thing to fix. It's not as simple as just letting the player "pick them up", because the player in the arcade machine is not a real player.

Honestly, I think you're doing really great with this. This is definitely among the neatest/most impressive innovations with Doom that I've seen this year, and all-time. It's even more impressive considering the limitations of the source port you use, and the fact that you're updating it over time to fix or get around the issues.

So yeah, I saw that Doomception there, and it was rather lawls. XD Hope your efforts find more success, TheZombieKiller.

With that out of the way...

Some fan art made by a friend. Might as well circulate it a bit for him. :)

What? I'm a Doomer too. >.>

Here's my low poly bake of the Cyber Demon.

It's a shame about the attitude here towards models. It would be fun to do a Battlelord like this.
