Why did teabagging start with Halo? Having the player mesh crouch was around before that.

Halo made it main stream, like 2 weapon limits and terrible driving controls!
Sadly, it couldn't mainstream campaign coop :)

I apologize for the way I acted if I offended anyone I feel that I was harsh in my words as a personal preference i'm not apologizing because I could lose my access here but because... It was just bad timing for me and an over reaction I understand that assumption when I have the tendency but it just pulls my string the wrong way. I am going to take a chill pill we don't have to agree with what is stupid or not. And you can go ahead and think I am drunk. I just didn't feel good about my actions when I thought back on some of the things I said today and the perception I gave.

You know that, that isn't really me if you actually know me any. In a way yes I have a tendency to speak bold but there is a line for me personally. A friend of mine from here actually talked to me and gave some insight (you know who you are) it helped thank you for that sir. Anyways, I am just going to take a chill pill for a bit see you around. Get back on topic now or continue to with whatever it is you do sorry.

Hey if you think that was bad, I used to be the epitome of stupidity a few years ago. Looking back on old forum posts (in other forums, mostly) makes me want to punch myself

I don't think you are drunk all the time, it was just painfully obvious that time so I wanted people to back off but that plan went kaput.

If you taunted in UT2004 while playing the upper part of the body played taunt- and victory-animations while running around in the map.

That was totally hilarious (and forbidden in leagues and competitive matches, as the animations went too far off the hitboxes).

The Unreal series bots taunted basically every kill as well. Unreal bots have always had a revenge list where the last person to have killed them goes to the top of the list and they prioritize who they go after by that list (or the next objective depending on game type), which I figure I would probably have if someone taunted me every time they killed me, but yeah animated taunts have been in a lot of games.

It was group effort by Limitation Studios, Casual Gamer Group, and Satisfy the Masses Company. :D
I am not surprised at the limitations...
I know this might not be a popular idea, but I would enjoy playing the original DooM or DooM II duplicated on the DooM 4 engine. Maybe someone will figure out a way to get custom structures into SnapMap.
I am going back to playing DooM II now. :) Some day we'll get a PS4... :D

The notion is not unheard of. People have attempted to convert the classic Doom levels to every engine underneath at the sun. People attempted to port Duke Nukem levels to Half Life. Total conversions of Wolfenstein 3D to Doom are a modding style all on its own. Frankly I'm surprised no one has made an announcement to convert the DooM 4 levels into the Zdoom equivalent.

Loving Doom SP so far. Absolutely loving the level design and the integration of the original Doom audio-scape into the new world.

For the record, I agree with you that the taunts in Doom are shit. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they are NOT the same thing as Duke RTS taunts, etc. They don't carry the same "integration" with the game world and come off more as pandering to youtube. The RTS taunts from Duke were deeply integrated into the nature of the game. It was only when users started making their own that pop culture entered it... but even then... it still held a standard of "This means a lot to ME" as opposed to "Hey guyz... recognize THIS?"

Starting over...

Don't kowtow too much. That IS really you... under certain circumstances. Spend too much time rejecting your shadow self and you'll find yourself overrun with demons from hell.

Recognize that it totally is a SUBSET of you that you can CHOOSE to engage. If you treat it as an "other" that you must battle, you will lose because you can't beat yourself at your own game. You will always lose even if you "win".

So... calling people out on their low standards for taunts in a way that is completely uncomfortable is simply an option you have. Because some people will not even notice you until you make them uncomfortable. It's up to you to figure out the balance that matters to you... but it's not "not you". It's a subset... but it's still you.

It's almost like the skill of a game developer is building a satisfying illusion within whatever limitations you're given.

I see nothing wrong with the taunts; the multiplayer is so forgettable anyways so its not a huge issue.
All the characters in Quake 3 had an animation along with a audible taunt, and in all the UT games you could do a few different animations.

Do the taunts fit in with Doom? Well, you should really be asking does the rest of the multiplayer in Doom 2016 fit in, and that is more important than throwaway taunts.
Plus, the teabag taunt is fucking hilarious.

Those were crap too compared to the RTS that shipped with Duke.

I always wanted to see Anomolous Materials/Unforseen Consequences from Half-Life recreated in Doom 3 with all the aliens tearing the place apart being demons instead. I was going to attempt it myself until I discovered that mapping for Doom 3 was not very conventional and basically impossible. I don't suppose it would work in DOOM with its preconfigured structures and what not.

I thought that people were just being picky with the inclusion of the old Doom maps - Jesus please us, they look terrible! The one I saw was all fullbright.

They all look fullbright, but they do have diminished lighting as well as very, very subtle lighting changes. It is barely noticeable, but its there.
