I wonder if there'll be customization to make your MP Doomguy look like Doom 1/2/3's Doomguy.

Considering that's what the singleplayer model is styled after, I can't imagine these not being available.

As well as comic-style cut-scenes, reworked levels and "more Bond one-liners."

(I'm on steam and didn't review it, as I'm sure many people haven't and won't. Consensus numbers are really overrated, plus how do you know you wouldn't agree with the half there who does like it? I prefer to just play something and make up my own opinion, especially if it's free.

I only posted about it because I saw it on Eurogamer this morning. I had never heard of it before. Is it terrible or a rip-off? What's the history there?

Rip-off as someone taking credit for another person's work, like adding features to a finished work or resuming an abandoned mod, rather than remaking an old game in another engine.
I mean, lots of people have remade Goldeneye, both professional developers and modders, so I'm unclear on why this particular mod is so reviled.

Its up to ID's single player and snapmap to determine how its gonna do now, which judging by r/doomleaks actually sounds pretty good. Snapmap in particular seems quite a bit more in depth than they let on.

My 660Ti can start the game(in alpha and close beta, but I never into the game since I HATE to wait other players slowly coming into when try to start a match.) ,but I don't know if they changed that in this Open Beta version.
But I don't care MP seriosly, mostly I want for the DooM 4 is its SP only.

[fanboy]People are just greedy and entitled, they should be happy to even have a DooM game, if you don't like it then don't play it and don't let the door hit you on the way out, etc. etc. etc.

Well, what was I expecting trying to play this on a HD6950 with a graphics driver over 3 years old.

Especially when you consider id doesn't really have anything to do with the multiplayer. Certain Affinity should've stayed the hell away from Doom, while sure it's fun for a while, there are so many things in there that I just fucking DESPISE. The two weapon limit, for one.

I think people just see a number and look at it like a graded paper from school. That number still means a lot of people like it, and you might be one of those people. Do you never like a movie or band that other people might not like? Is a popularity contest how everybody determines what to try? (Plus this particular thing is free to try)
I really dig it personally, lot of fun. I have no use for consensus numbers. Ditto for Rottentomatoes for movies. I have a friend who goes by it, but then we see a movie, sometimes he doesn't like one that is fresh, and does like one that is "rotten". It can be a shortcut if you're busy or something, but it's not a science. You won't always agree with the common consensus.

There's nothing to be upset about. After all, these reviews will disappear faster than a pack of Doritos at Jonah Hill's house once the beta finishes. I've tried the PS4 version, which I understand to be worse but still comparable, and in this case I agree with the consensus. It's extremely underwhelming, and people are only paying attention to it because it awkwardly has the Doom name slapped on it.
BTW, Doom's jacked! The shooting mechanics are shit. There's barely any feedback for shooting and for getting hit, thanks to the loadout system none of the weapons possessing any stopping power because the devs are trying to create an even playing field (melee and grenades are more powerful than the rocket launcher & shotgun). The sound mixing is atrocious; demon power-ups are a fucking stupid idea since, unlike the rest of the players, they can one-shot and have an endless pool of health which just awkwardly halts the match until it runs out, and mantling, along with the taunts, just add to the numerous unskippable animations. I could go on...

Down to 37% positive feedback now. Will be very interesting to see how the campaign is received. Their E3 demo was just a polished version of their 2014 Quakecon vertical slice. I can't think of many games that have emerged from a nearly decade long development hell with anything decent, but I'm wishing id, id Frankfurt, Battlecry Studios, Certain Affinity, Escalation Studios, and their external art contractors that were brought in-house when Hugo Martin joined all the best!
