Hello, I was wondering if anybody knows any multiplayer clients for Duke? On YANG I can't find anyone, same with Dukematcher and a bunch of others. Everytime I find a client, nobody has any servers up! Please help!

Now that Megaton has its own lobby system, I think most people have moved onto there, so you won't get much luck with the original DOS versions of the game.

EDuke32 is getting a really nifty multiplayer in the future as well which blows everything else out of the water.

Not to sound negative, but I doubt this.
The masses of people that own and play Megaton have most likely never herd of eduke.

They will continue to use Megaton.

People still aren't satisfied with the performance of megaton's multiplayer. If people found out there was a much smoother alternative with no sync issues, less lag, possible extra game options, and in-game joining, I think people would be willing to give it a go, especially if it started off with a very simple and user-friendly interface.

Of course megaton will probably always still have players because it's easy to use, has steam's backing and is the "official" multiplayer.

I don't have the steam version of Duke Nukem 3d. When will the multiplayer eduke come out?

I don't think there is a time frame for multi-player. Multiplayer is not really a short term goal. People have been waiting for many years for this feature in Eduke. But when it does come out, it will be awesome! Good things take time. For now just buy Eduke Megaton on steam it is only 10 bucks.

Things I've noticed about Megaton though, is that the jumping is different, the accuracy is way off for the weapons such as the pistol and shotgun etc and it is still heavily based off the original duke game which had its fair share of bugs. But the multi player is stable.

yeah megaton has a lobby sort of setup game system we don't need to emulate that it works good enough, edukes aim is to go beyond and have multi you can join or quit at will with no lobbies and dedicated server support, i'd totally run a 24/7 AUS server if this was feasible

I hope it gets release soon having numbers of problems with megaton

1. I try to download a map doesn't download and it causes my user map list to crash the game
2. Right now some of my users maps that I downloaded don't work which is werid, also seems that a number of people have the same problem.

maps are downloaded to something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Duke Nukem 3D\gameroot\workshop

check to see if the maps are in there (should be under some subfolder with a name made of a long number or something)

if they are, then copy the map file to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Duke Nukem 3D\gameroot\maps

see if the map plays then

if it does and it also has music or art you can find the appropriate folders under the gameroot directory. they're labeled pretty obvious e.g. music, tiles

also might want to clean out the temp download directories

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(some folder name made up of numbers or something like it)\ugc\download

and

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(some folder name made up of numbers or something like it)\ugc\referenced

and just for your information if you need it, your temp upload directory is

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(some folder name made up of numbers or something like it)\(another folder name made up of a bunch of numbers)\remote

I think it has map download problems in game because steam won't allow background downloads but you can set it to specifically only allow it in megaton steam properties menu, you will have to set a bandwidth cap on max steam downloads though because if it starts downloading a patch whilst the game is being hosted it may cause a desync issues and disconnect all your clients.

I've been playing online with the older version of EDuke32 up until now. I had a quick game with Drek on Megaton and found that the controls felt kind of 'mushy' and the game speed was like you were playing on steroids constantly.
