Wow those pictograms and logos look good. I can give a try as well
I'd love to see a refreshed startup

Color me impressed!
For a video bumper, this is a most excellent start. I agree with Gambini's constructive criticism.
The exe icon is better suited to be an SVG logo than a 3D render though.
I'd love to see some concepts for EDuke32-styled Shadow Warrior "gears", of both SVG and 3D types.
We've got a creative bunch here on the forums.

Some more thoughts on the logos:
I've been going back and forth on whether the outline of the butane on the Polymer logo should stand out from the cube/hexagon, as in this terrible illustration:
Cage, could you make an SVG where the outline is a second object? It can always be set to the same color as you have it now.
Just throwing this out there. Flipped vertically, and with a color scheme more reminiscent of the current icon. (The iconic blue is one of our current logo's strengths that we should maintain.)
While I was picking colors, I discovered this. Cannot unsee.

Hey, that's why I've had this "Duke" association with it, Fox' post confused me. I'm not that happy with any other font choices I've tried, so it's back to italic Daidoh (with tweaked letter "u", sunce I couldn't stand it). And there's 16 teeth now, a nice *even* number I've used colors from Hendricks' version, even though I've picked mine from the current icon. I've kept mine color scheme though (what is darker/lighter), since using the darker color for the center circle is not distinct enough - the element is so small it would be better to keep the whole gear single color, since that single dot is kind of out of the blue
(I can shift the lighter blue to the later blue from the Hendricks' image, but 3 different shades will be too much)
I'd like to post SVG's once the logos are fully done, but here it is anyway.

What do you mean?
In general, this was my inspiration:
I think my take is a good compromise between nice/clear form and readability/symbolism. I was trying to add hydrogen atoms in my first sketches, but it made the whole thing cluttered, and looked like mickey mouse ears, so I've decided not to bother.

Otherwise, I don't like the "less is more" style of logos today very much.
Best example: Microstoft Windows 8...
I liked the Windows 7 Logo much more, but that's just allways a question of taste...
Less is more has been around for a while. Nike logo has been designed in the early 70's and I'm sure I could find an older example, but that one was just from the top of my head.
Logo's are about clarity, readability and association first and foremost. Extra graphical effects can be always added later (Personally, I only approve of gradients and shadows in logo design), however they will not improve a bad design.
As for the video, I wouldn't add that much too - keep in mind that in a video, you receive added dimension - time - which let's you add movement and... that gives you room to add more than enough
Your idea of the promo material is different than mine, but it's not bad at all.
Then again, I'd like to animate the Polymer and EDuke logo myself - I just like to lend some professional experience I have with the community I've been for years.
Cheers!

About that Polymer logo. It looks way too similar to Steam's with these colours.

Not sure about the gear design. As a logo it looks cool but for me it goes a bit too far from the original with only having two separate fills, I'd personally like to see something done for the ring around the symbol or the tips of the symbol itself. I also guess something should be done about the amount of gears. Though I'd personally vote for less than more.

Something similar to this? Basically have the logo be made of a polymer. It would retain the important aspects of being simple and striking.

Let's not get TOO carried away with the gears... I really like the inclusion of the gearing around the outside of the logo itself as I feel it promotes the idea I've had in my head that EDuke32 become more of an indie game construction platform rather than "just" a Duke Nukem 3D port, but going too far with it might give the impression that we're somehow associated with Pitchford's operation and that's the last thing I want.

There's only so much I buy into the study of graphic design. For example, some graphic designers demand desaturation; brown everywhere. I don't like that. (Though by the same token, oversaturation is equally bad.)
As long as you're self-aware about what you're doing, you should be fine.

Today I worked on polishing the gear in my 3D-model since that was the point I stopped there yesterday in the morning...
Model reshaping (even the spikes of the gear has'nt the same size, glad noone saw it ), UV-mapping, texture painting...
And... after that I started to animate again...
Well... without long terms, here it is:
It's not perfect, but this intro keeps very close to what I imagine to be an eduke intro video!
I just took some font I got on my PC for it.
Will reply to some posts later, after I got some sleep...

Not to sound overly critical, but I think it still needs some work. There are uneven elements (i.e. lines and spaces of unmatching size), and thinking about it now, an obvious choice for the number of teeth would be 12 because of the nuke symbol. And do we really need more than one color for such simplified form?

Maybe it's just me, but the texture doesn't feel right. It doesn't hold the greatness of rusted metal texture from the original Duke 3D intro. Here you can see an HD image of the XBLA / Megaton logo.
But more importantly, the color is far too different from the Eduke32 logo, It is purplish and black, while it should be azure with a white background. Though for now it would be better to have the vector logo finished.
