That looks like someone took the E3 footage and added a shitty song to it.

The song's crap indeed, but I hadn't seen the footage before so I ran it up in case anyone else hasn't either.

Between the point system and the weapon design, this is starting to resemble Bulletstorm more than Shadow Warrior.

Has there been any word on whether this has regenerating health or health packs?

From what I've seen, it looks like he has a numeric health system (yay!), though I haven't seen any health packs. He heals by using this magic power that slowly regenerates his health while being used. However using said healing ability causes nearby enemies to enrage, moving faster and doing more damage.

EDIT: Looking at gameplay footage again, it looks like he gets some health back (5 and 10) for damaging enemies. His maximum health also seems to be 125.

So it's a at least partially an ego shooter, which is kind of cool.

That would allow you to fight long battles with enemies without having to hide behind a rock or run away to find health.

Yeah, I really like the concept behind the system. If you aren't in the thick of it, you're dead.

Man, there are quite a few things about this reboot I don't like, but I'd be lying out my ass if I said it didn't look fun.

CONFIRMED: Health pick-ups, no weapon limit, ridiculous one liners, unlimited shurikens, and more Wang than you can handle. #ShadowWarrior

Cool, I'm liking the way the mechanics are shaping up. It's like they're trying to remove every limit they can think of, which pretty much makes it the Anti-DNF in that respect.

Looking at it myself it seems more like those numbers are to do with the actual killsteaks than health.

I read somewhere that the SW remake is going to use a system where health will regenerate but it will be quite slow and health packs are a safer bet to survive. I can't find the exact link right now, I'll look for it later.

If you've seen the videos, you can see Lo Wang sapping whatever is left of the enemies life after he kills them to regenerate health.

This + health packs is more than enough.

I see that now. Sorry, I got distracted by all the action in the videos to pay attention.

Ah, now it all makes sense, and seems fairly balanced. I definitely want to get this when it comes out, but I'll probably wait a few weeks in case Devolver Digital hand out 50% off vouchers after the initial wave of everyone buying it *cough* megaton *cough*.

I dunno, can't help but feel they'll only offer that kind of thing to people who already own Megaton/SW Classic Redux before the remake's release rather than waiting until afterwards.

If it's anything like what happened with megaton/serious sam 3, there could be a huge excess and people can trade them around.

Possibly. Either way, I do hope that Devolver does offer vouchers for people who own their products. I doubt that it would be 50% off considering that the remake's a brand new game made from scratch instead of making the old game work on modern OS's, but some discount for loyal purchasers would be cool.

One minor detail: you can play the Classic Shadow Warrior in-game in the remake.

If it has all levels with redbook audio included, THEN someone may be impressed. Possibly. Under certain circumstances... :)

But hey, if it's like Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3, that's already some cool shiat for the giggles. Like: Shwing! (ninja head rolls) "Sayonara, scumbag!" - (new ninja coming) Shwing! (ninja head rolls) "You're too stupid to duck!"... xD

It could be playable given that it's possible to do that in games these days, although it may just serve as an easter egg or maybe a set up for a line from Lo Wang. Maybe a pun on a classic SW line like, "That's no ordinary wang". I doubt they'd give away an easter egg like that unless it was worth revealing early (i.e. by being interactive beyond the norm), but I've been wrong before. Either way, nice little addition.

They talked about it in one of the interviews, from what I gathered it just plays an animation and music.

I didn't know what the game would look like until I saw the screenshots on Devolver's site. I thought it looked very colorful and dreamlike. Then I saw the gameplay video: it looked VERY impressive. The new SW seems to play like a cross between Kill Bill and Serious Sam, yet I like the samurai sword gameplay, the environments, the colors, and the creatures I've seen. I doubt that this game will include naked anime women in awkward spots shooting their personal uzis at you when you get to close, the original SW's over-the-top Chino-Japanese parody dirty humor, or Monty Python references (THAT'S NO ORDINARY RABBIT!). However, I'm looking forward to how this re-imagining will tell the original storyline, how Zilla and his corporation will be portrayed, what orginal enemies will return, what weapons will be included, and whether any Tenchu-like stealth gameplay might appear. I wonder if the snake demon and sumo boss will reappear in re-imagined form, and whether new bosses will be made for the game.

I like it that human enemies are in the game, because Zilla must have regular personnel besides the undead demons he's been surrounding himself with.

I take it that Lo Wang will be strictly Japanese this time, instead of a vague amalgam of Chinese and Japanese, like a strange mix between Fu Manchu/Bruce Lee/Toshiru Mifune? If so, I don't know if they'll call him Lo Wang anymore (unless they're going to make him a half-Chinese Japanese, which would explain his Chinese name). As over-the-top and absolutely ridiculous the Asian parody was in the original SW, I don't thing that aspect of the game should be thrown away. There are ways to make it work, but I haven't seen how the game will play, so who knows?

If the new SW doesn't measure well with the original SW, the engine is awesome enough for some modders to recreate and enhance the original SW with that engine. Such a mod could be the SW equivalent of the new ROTT.

I wonder what the new SW would be like if it did have the new ROTT team work on it.

The news of the new SW made me think of how I would've done an SW2. My vision of an SW sequel would be to keep the humor and Lo Wang's personality, but add some straightman Asian characters who are wondering why the hell Lo Wang is acting like he's on SNL or MadTV. Then, you have the Anime Asian characters, who are extremely off-the-wall, kind of like a Japanese equivalent of Roger Rabbit and fellow Toon Towners, and they live in random parts of Japan and Korea. The game would have that old polygonal 3D look, like Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, and the gameplay would be a freeform mix of head-on action and stealth. The stealth would borrow from Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, the realistic sword combat from Bushido Blade, and the hand-to-hand combat would be influenced by Bruce Lee's lightning quick Jeet Kune Do choreography. For the humor, I'd look for inspiration in South Park and Conker's Bad Fur Day, and reference notable martial arts pop culture like the Kung Fu TV series, The Seven Samurai, Harakiri, The Five Deadly Venoms, The Wu-Tang Clan, and perhaps Daikatana.

I visualize the bosses being a gigantic sharp-toothed frog in a massive lily pond, a Japanese demon dog, a titanic Budai statue gone awry, a rampaging Anime alien (a la Freeza, Piccolo, or Vegeta), and a dragon which resembles Shenron.

One of them the new heroe in the new Shadow Warrior, now that "Lo Wang" is too racist?

EDIT: And no, it is NOT faked.

As much as I'm excited about this, I have some very valid concerns based on what we've seen thus far:

1. No shooting and running at the same time (none of this was demonstrated). Welcome to 2013.
Is it that bad to want to run and shoot at the same time? I don't need COD-STYLE running where the gun is put to the side, plus he's probably going to run out of breath like COD.

2. Very, very linear level design, no mazing, no roaming
40% of the satisfaction of completing a level and finding secrets - gone.
Secrets are back, but as the only collectible thing. I wonder if ammo packs, keys, armor etc will be available/collectable.

3. The more and more I think about the Health-restore magic, the more I realize it's complete bullcrap
It's supposed to make enemies more aggressive if you use it and they are near by, but in practice, I'd just clear a room of enemies and restore my health with the magic.

Is there any way to get in touch with FWH on a basic level to discuss such things.

I'm in no way judging the game as basically nothing is revealed. More info from an informed person is always welcome.

I don't think we have seen anywhere near the scale of maps to be judging if they are linear or not yet. I think we should wait until the game is closer to release before we judge things like that :)

I did some quick research, and apparently it was later proven to be fake. The names anyway, not the news report.

Are you sure there's no running and shooting? Not that I've looked at lots of footage, but I'd be happy with walking and shooting. The impression you gave is that you have to stand completely still while shooting, which would of course suck tremendously.
