The game play footage looks promising. Looking forward to this.

Anyways; a few questions. Is the railgun making a return in this? Also will it be compatible w/ the Xbox 360 wired control support w/ rumble? Last but not least, Mod Support?

Sons of bitches, they can't even make a new model for lo wang?

Yeah the new protagonist doesn't look very Lo Wang-y... if that makes sense. Also, I don't like the new shotgun design. =P
But it still can turn out to be good if they manage to do a good level design, enemy positioning, etc.
Hope it doesn't turn out to be another painkiller gameplay-wise.

PS: Holy shit, did they just use the same player model?

I doubt it's actually the same model. But everything we've seen points to the fact that the developers aren't very good at doing variety with faces, not when two protagonists from different games, and all the human enemies look the same with their round heads, frowns, and short hair.

I'll let them borrow this model if they need it.

You're a real shut-in aren't you?

Quite the contrary.
It's just that I am very selective and pretentious old school metal head, and you would most likely hate me to death if you ever had the privilege of stumbling into me in real life.

Is it me, or does it look like it could be a new painkiller game in both style and graphics?
Some screenshots show great graphics while others show some rather cheap character models and ground textures.
Until I see a gameplay video, I won't be able to judge it's quality properly.
Looking deeper into the screenshots I can say the graphics resemble a 2006 game.
Also from the looks of things, this game will be a Serious Sam/Painkiller/Will Rock type of game with the small exception that Painkiller and Serious Sam games were great games.
To me, a remake of Shadow Warrior had a much bigger chance of appealing to at least one group of people if it would have retained more recognizable elements like the character itself and the level art direction of the first game.

I have never played Painkiller so I don't know what you're talking about. I have bought the Painkiller Black Edition on GoG but have yet to find the time to install and play it.

Just imagine fighting hordes of enemies in linear hallways and arenas that don't allow you to progress farther in the level until everything is dead. In other words not very Shadow Warrior-like at all.

And don't mix it up with Serious Sam-like gameplay. That is also hordes of enemies, but you have to use certain techniques and strategies at least for enemies. In Painkiller it is much dumber.

none of these crowd-shooter games even really hold up compared to Doom anyway. they never seem to have interesting enemy designs that require you to think past 'lead into corridor, use biggest gun'

By look of the gameplay en screenshots it doesn't look all that bad. You have to remember that this is a younger version of lowang! Could be a open spot and possibilities for more titles in the future. But we will need to wait and see

Depends. When I first played Doom and shooters were all the new, shiny trend I found it boring.

I've lost interest on this based on the screenshots alone. But then again hardly anything pleases me anyway.

Left 4 Dead 2, actually, which I'm aware probably doesn't make much sense.

the fact you can employ so many different strategies to handle swarms in Doom and Doom 2 are what makes them work as well as they do. (there's almost no other FPS games where enemies fighting each other is a viable strategy, especially when in some instances they can kill bosses for you.) they're also the reason why the two are still constantly getting new content. it's simply more vibrant gameplay wise than most everything that's come out, save for a few daimonds in the rough.

Comprehensive Video Interview

http://www.devolverd.../shadow-warrior
"Shadow Warrior tells the offbeat tale of Zilla Enterprise’s corporate shogun, Lo Wang, who is ordered by his employer to track down and acquire a legendary blade known as the Nobitsura Kage. Forced into a timeless battle, Lo Wang learns of the blade’s connection to ancient gods from another realm, pushing our world to the brink of destruction. Aided by Hoji, a banished spirit from this mysterious world, Lo Wang must use a masterful combination of gun, blade, magic and wit to discover the truth behind the demonic invasion and banish the encroaching forces back into the darkness."

So basically, in an attempt to be more politically correct, they removed any semblance of identity? Not that this makes me doubt the game. This should still be interesting.

I will get it. No doubt.

To support them and to show that there is demand for old school schooters, even if they aren't 100% my cup of tea (which I absolutely don't know yet regarding the SW reboot). Should still be miles better then all the slow Chesthiwallshooters, anyways.

It's looking good so far. Will pick it up. Wonder if it will support mods and include an editor.

They said they want to add that later on because they wouldn't manage to implement that in time for the summer release.
