I don't like it  at least for a shadow warrior related thing. I would've called it Ninja Chronicles or something.

Sure it doesn't really look like Shadow Warrior but there are not enough fps games with samurai swords for my liking, and it looks fun.

Yeah as a ninja game it looks interesting and I'm looking forward to it, I just won't name it shadow warrior in my mind

So far it's looking like a step up to me.

I think it looks awesome! The Roadhog engine handles exteriors and daytime really well. The only thing I'm concerned with is the interactivity. It's one of the coolest things from the late 90's shooters that all but disappeared in modern games. I hope they include it in some form. However, it's not super important as they seem to have shooting down and the katana looks like a killer melee weapon which is a pretty tall challenge for any first person game. Great job Flying Wild Hog!

Looks like a decent enough game on it's own, but it's a poor representation of Shadow Warrior.

Why are we all defending Shadow Warrior all the sudden? Last I checked nobody really cares about it. Are we just bored with berating DNF that we've jumped onto something new? Or was this game really that special to a lot of you?

The game wasn't very memorable to me. I disliked his voice and attitude and the gameplay got boring. Never did finish it. I resorted to using cheats just to mess around in it for some kind of fun. The weapons were neat but that's about it. It wasn't nearly as fun as Duke.

Shadow Warrior has been one of my favorite games since I first played it. The new one looks very cool IMO, I don't think I've looked forward to a game this much since DNF. The one thing I'm most sceptical about are the magical powers, but we haven't really seen a lot of that yet.

A few E3 articles:

http://www.gameinfor...-best-ways.aspx

http://www.polygon.c...yful-ode-to-the

Foes burst into bloody clouds like fireworks. If the kill is done particularly well, the player is rewarded a bonus labeled things such as "violence bonus," "blood bonus" and "headshot." - Sounds a little like fellow Polish developer People Can Fly's Bulletstorm.

I played Shadow Warrior before Duke3D. It's very near and dear to my heart. I love that game.

The gameplay looks pretty cool. Without having to scan the entire thread, does anyone have a rough idea of the price and release date?

It's looking good and I think I'll like the new katana combos. It looks a bit easy though... probably being played on easy just to demonstrate the game.

edit:
from their twitter account:
"humping bunnies in #ShadowWarrior confirmed."
The most important feature was confirmed!!! hahah

One of the articles state that the game can be challenging. Good to know.

Don't think there's any yet.

It's releasing on PC this fall. http://shadowwarrior.com/ With a PS4 port coming next year.

Hard Reset on the highest difficulty was brutal. Seriously challenging game. The footage Green posted showed off tons of neat details. The gore is absurd! The SW cabinet is a nice touch.

Still seems like Flying Wild Hog can't shake the reigns of Hard Reset: there's slow and clunky player movement, slow and clunky enemies, tiny and wave-based hordes, and very limited levels consisting of linear one-way halls or closed-off arena rooms complete with glowing doors.

And this is the first time we've seen and heard the reboot Wang, but this new character made pretty much the antithesis of an impression. I thought the guy driving the car was just a generic Yakuza thug at first, but I guess he's the main hero. Unlike what his predecessor achieved, I don't think "Hahahaha, you guys are pussies" will be a particularly memorable Lo Wang quote in fifteen years.

I at least started mapping for shadow warrior before I started on Duke. I chose the Duke engine mostly because it was easier to get certain effects, while I couldn't do much with the SW editor. But I like both games equal. If I'm mapping for Duke it's because of it's great mapster32.

This isn't Shadow Warrior, it's Painkiller with a different name on the box.

BTW, if Flying Wild Hog are trying to rival Ravensoft for the "ugliest colours in a videogame" award, then they've done a fine job so far.

Really? I like the colours. Very oriental. Fitting, in my opinion.

I'd forgotten this but after playing Shadow Warrior again last weekend I never really realised just how much of a huge influence it had on me when making the first Imagination World over a decade ago - not the asian theme but more it's approach to special effects and stuff. It's a good game; I wish I had hopes for this game but everything about it screams budget title to me - unless it is much cheaper than a normal game than I don't think it will live up to a full price tag.

I thought this too. When your main protagonist in a game that's supposed to be larger than life looks near identical to the enemies he's fighting (and that's not a thinly veiled racist statement about Asians - I would say the same thing about CoD's characters or anything else if they had marketed the game's protagonist as something more than a player insert) As much shit as the original's VA got, at least it was distinctive.

I'm hoping that the urban environments make a return...possibly even some remakes of favorites from the original? I, for one, would like to return to Seppuku Station for some HD slicing n' dicing.

Is there any other media where we can hear Wang's voice? This is the first time I've heard it but the quality is pretty poor +the guy is talking on top of it. From what I hear he doesn't sound as young as I feared he might.

I hope so too, especially considering Hard Reset's urban environments was the high point of that game.

What the fuck....did they do to Lo Wang? They made him look like some average person you'd see on the street in real life.

They got rid of his Fu Manchu mustache, his cool ying-yang bracers, his beard...

I'm sad now.

Edit: The bright-side, at least the game looks really fun.

Lo Wang? More like NO Wang...our protagonist went from looking like the total bad-ass that everybody knew and loved to some ordinary pedestrian extra out of a low budget Hong Kong action flick. Ugh...
