Add a few heavy metal power cords and you have an 80's power ballad popular at all the school proms.

Don't really see the connection myself.

Sometimes it only needed one chord to take care of business.

APC is a great band, probably a close second to Tool out of Maynard's three main projects in my view (The last being Puscifer, their music is a bit more hit and miss to me).

Wow. I thought the group Foghat wrote that song. I remember working at a hospital around 1979 and the Foghat version of the song was blasting on my radio when a bunch of female administrators walked in. I sure did get some dirty looks from those feminists.

To be honest, I came across that song from a web article on controversial/funny album covers (look up Fresh White Reeboks by Nigel Pepper Cock for a nice one), I'd never heard of Mom's Apple Pie before.

People who put down dance music don't understand that its point is to convey emotions that are above the kind of petty human emotions (love, anger, whatever) that songs usually deal with.

Dance music is made to dance. Like go on the floor let loose. Posted Image

It was a reply to previous poster. I wonder if people would put down waltz as they put down dance music Mikko mentioned just because it is "dance music".

i prefer listening to "waltz" music over the techno beats that mikko posted
for lack of better words the song mikko posted seams artificial and sterile, and something my son could program on his fl studio in under 10 minutes

edit: my son is very gifted and is constantly writing his own songs on his piano, nintento ds, and fl studio if he's not playing classical music on a cd then imitating it by ear on his piano. (then he runs off and prints the sheet music to see how close he was)
not bragging for my son, just explaining that writing a song like the one mikko posted would be easily doable for him

As if it is a bad thing.

I always found that kind of argument about any music/art as incredibly lame.

Yeah, "doable" once someone else has come up with first. The vast majority of popular songs, be they rock or pop or whatever, are "simple" in the sense that they're not technically very demanding. But that doesn't mean anyone could come up with them. That ATB song certainly isn't any easier to pull off than the vast majority of classic rock songs.
