I just followed the instructions on the wiki on how to install eduke32. Everything works fine except that I can't load my saves. Whenever I try the game crashes and I get a popup which can be seen in the attached image. It doesn't matter on what level or which slot I use, the popup is always the same except for the name of the save file. I'm on Windows 7.
Any ideas?

Where does your save file come from?
It's in the folder that where I put DUKE3D, DUKE.RTS, and the eduke32 files.

I mean which version of Duke does your save file come from? The original Duke3D? Some version of eduke32?

(Hi there, this is my first post!)
Same problem and error message here.
I began playing, saved the game, loaded and the game CTD'd with the message: "Loading save game file "dukesav0.esv" failed (code 5), cannot recover." Tried saving to multiple slots, but every savegame shows the same behavior. I've googled for this error message like crazy, but nothing has come up, so I'm thinking it might be report-worthy.
My system specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
CPU: Intel i5-3550 3.3GHz
GPU: Radeon HD6950OC (2GB DDR5)
RAM: 2x4GB DDR3
I'm attaching my eduke32.log file.
Thanks!

Same here. Downloaded the latest eduke32 from eduke32.com.
Downloaded Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition from GOG.com and put all the files from eduke32 in the game folder. Tried reinstaling several times. No luck.
I think something may be wrong with this free version of Duke on GOG. As I can see nobody had a complaint about this until now.
Is there maybe some update or fix we noobs have to install? (It's a looong time since I played Duke )

Thanks guys, I was having this problem too, I think it was caused by the free version of DN3D:A. Thank you everyone for sorting this out, the game is much more fun when played through eDuke.

that was faster than I thought it would be, thanks for the fix!

It really warms the cockles to see people actually say EDuke32 is the best source port they've ever seen. When I started this project in 2004, I was a completely incompetent developer who didn't even know the language the Duke3D source is written in... now we're 8 years in, we have a team of very talented guys working on this and we're kicking more ass than ever.
