Where to begin...

EDuke32 is a
source port, not a mod.

since I would finally be able to play it with a dedicated GPU
Our OpenGL renderers, Polymost and Polymer, take advantage of dedicated GPUs, but the classic 8-bit renderer (how the game originally looked in 1996) runs equally well on just a CPU.

(without it, the mod doesn't work for some reason).
I think you are conflating
EDuke32 with
the HRP. The latter is a mod that runs on the former.

I even tried using the debug shortcut and that didn't work either.
The debug executable exists specifically to help with
debugging. Extra stability would be a side effect.

I would like an explanation to this and possibly a fix.

Attached are my specs, settings, and crash log. Thanks.
First and foremost, grab a
synthesis build. If the problem still happens, take a look at the
Troubleshooting article on the EDukeWiki. Specifically, use the debug exe and if you get a crash send us the file
eduke32_or_mapster32.crashlog.
The version of EDuke32 you have is over a year old. Which leads me to...

P.S. I think I remember hearing eduke32 was incompatible with AMD cards, but I doubt that is the problem.
Where did you find your information, and more importantly, the old versions of both EDuke32 and the HRP? The EDuke32 Team repeatedly encounter misunderstandings like these:
- that EDuke32 only includes the OpenGL renderers and is not faithful to the original
- that Polymer (or EDuke32 altogether) does not work at all with AMD or is specifically designed only to work with NVIDIA
- that EDuke32 equals the HRP
- that torrent megapacks containing EDuke32 and Duke 3D make it easier for the user despite containing disorganized and outdated software
It would help everyone involved if we could correct the source of confusion.
As for the question, the OpenGL modes have issues on AMD GPUs but it is AMD's fault--mostly buggy drivers. We have put effort into working around these issues (just search the source for "workaround") including buying AMD hardware to test. Unfortunately, we don't have the commercial resources necessary to put the software through professional testing to find out all the issues and how to work around them, as is done with AAA games.
