I hope that they will not release a rip-off of jfduke3d or duke3dw or eduke32 (the 3 most known ports with opengl support).

This has already been covered in the thread. They are basing it on JFDuke and will be releasing the source code with their changes.

Too bad, it's JFDuke3D port with the game, you will know if you read whole thread before post this... :D

But, at least that port is updated, for just click and play, you can still use its GRP data with eduke32 or whatever else to run the game if you want.

And I hate my timezone.

Releasing the source code is not enough. They should pay money to JFDuke3D author, because they will be making money from it.

The GPL gives the right to re-sell without profit distribution, though you could make a case for the BUILD license requiring sharing the wealth from the "you must make an agreement with Ken to charge for BUILD" clause.

Ken will be the biggest winner due to this clause.

Now that's interesting. They used some kind of bloom effect and an upscale filter or what?

Why is Shadow Warrior audible in the background beginning at the 35 second mark?

Thought it looked fine. Don't get all the hate. Everything has rough edges somewhere. Seems like we like to point them out now more then ever.

Will they include higher quality sound/music?

Also, is there a webpage with detailed info on the upcoming release?

[edit]

I've found it

Those colours in the trailer just look baaadddd. But the photos in supergoofy's link don't seem to be like that so it's probably just the trailer effect.

Also, the gameplay they showed was kind of dull. If they want to attract a new, younger audience, they need to show some gameplay other than 'point hitscan weapon at enemy and hold firebutton', like the shrinker or freezer weapon, jumping across rooftops in LA Rumble, and set pieces such as the San Andreas fault line or Rocket exploding in Launch Facility.

They probably should have also mentioned the incredibly large amount of high quality user made maps (which should be compatible). I'm sure a big reason why young gamers might buy doom is to check out some of the spectacular recent maps and mods for it.

The colors in the trailer is just Devolver being all hipster like it's Hotline Miami. The game looks as it always did IRL.

And yeah, in general the guys at Interceptor thought the trailer was pretty MEH for a Duke trailer, but it's the game that counts!

Is it really going to be released today? There is no reference for it in store.steampowered.com

It gets released the same time all the other Steam games get released which is about 19 hours away...

Also the game looks much much better than what appears in the trailer.

You can say that again. My own HRP v5 trailer gives a better portrayal of the action. Who captured the game footage for the devolver trailer?

I sense development envy.

I have no idea. This is not what I was seeing before and is a bit of a shock to me.

Ah, I was watching on my phone before, it does look silly. But good to hear that it's fine in the normal game. I figured it would be anyway, though. But that is strange to "show it off" like that in a trailer.

When the hell is a publisher gonna use Grabbag in a Duke trailer these days? The last one was the XBLA port back in 08 I think.
