I´m searching for a md2 program similar to MD3Compile
#1 Posted 14 November 2012 - 01:51 PM
I recently downloaded some modelpacks from http://www.md2.sitte....nl/models.html, but I don´t know the frames names to define them in my def file.
Can somebody tell me a program, which I can use instead of MD3Compile?
And one further question about md2 models: is there any other difference to md3s than the way they are animated?

I also tried it with NPherno´s MD3 Compiler, but I get an error message: "This is not a MD3!"

I think this is the best program to get, name and/or rename frames for md2 models.
I still only do maps and have not altered new models, ergo I only need http://quark.sourceforge.net/ this to get the models in, but this is for Quake II.

I sure hope not. We're never going to bother with proper normals for them so lighting works, right?

Listen to Terminix and Plagman. If you want to use them in EDuke32, you'll want to convert them first, if not start from scratch.

I planned to do this before I read all of your posts. I thought the animation of MD2 and MD3 is the only difference between this two formats. And I planned to use these MD2s as non-animated models.
Can you all tell me an easy way to convert md2 to md3?

Ideally you would reconvert your model from whatever source (like a 3ds or blend file) to MD3, because the coordinate systems of MD2 models only have 256 values, which is quite bad.

Ok. Now it seems to work. I think the md2 I tried to open in at first was broken somehow. I didn't take a look at the converted md2 in Mapster yet, but I could open it and save it as md3. Thanks for all of your help and information about that stuff.

MD3Compile is kidding me. I´ve just wanted to start to convert the md2s and now it doesn´t want to open them again. It worked yesterday.
