I was going to say the same thing. That's going way too far.

Heh, I don't even have a rant.

I agree that he went a little far with the crew but at the same time he made valid points on it taking too long.

He was too harsh and too personal with the Joe. George, on the other hand, deserved most of his words since they were based on his executive decisions which SUCKED.

Who else gets really annoyed when they visit George's Twitter and see messages about food and other stuff that no one cares about?

He could have saved posting that twitter post.

I mean, one week out of awesome posts and then he comes with this???

Don't know when he will notice we are here for the damn game, not for seeing him post nonsense crap.

I feel frustrated and insulted, I mean, he doesn't show DNF stuff like that list with solved problems anymore, he doesn't come to the forums to speak with the forumers but spents all the fucking whole day posting crap on Shacknews.

Fuck the people wo are fans and possible future customers I guess. Well, I guess I'll have to pay 3DR the same way the are doing to us.

Actually he doesn't even post on Shacknews really. Even that is getting more and more rare.

Ok, it started to feel like there was some semblance of the tiniest bit of momentum starting to grow there for a bit, but now it seems we're slipping back down into the WID blackout abyss again. Dammit, nobody likes a tease!

Spock has just about had enough . . . .

I have sort of dropped a very subtle change in topic in the George B twitter thread on the 3D Realms forums. I am trying to imply in the nicest possible way that this teasing process has dragged on for WAY too long.

It is a touchy subject so if you would like to contribute and portray the message further on those forum please feel free to do so.

I am not trying to ignite hostility in the 3D Realms forums, I just think it needs to be brought to attention over there once more.

After all the teaser trailer was released all the way back in late 2007.

ENOUGH WITH THE BLOODY TEASING! GEORGE YOU SAID SUBSTANTIAL MEDIA IS COMING!!! WHEN IS IT COMING! YOU HAVE HAD LONG ENOUGH! WE WANT DNF!!

Ahh much better.

This is really getting pathetic folks! Into our fifteenth month of waiting for "coming soon" and "staying tuned" and for what? Nothing, as usual. The whole point of a teaser is that there's actually supposed to be something on the way - it doesn't work if subsequent media releases are measured in increments of YEARS!! And I could care less about twitter updates either - there's nothing in any of them that indicates any kind of time frame at all.

This has gone on long enough! It would have been kinder to have never even released that teaser! ;)

Welcome back to nothing!

I think this has been enough. I'm so fed up with this crap that I'm planning to play the game... Without even buying it if it EVER gets released. Nothing against Duke, but George, the man who won't show the game because he's afraid to.

The last twitter thread was locked because of the ranting and "stay tuned my ass" comments. It won't change much if there'll be another locked twitter thread. It's spring already. Probably no DNF this year, either...

^ I'll go so far as to say that DNF most certainly WON'T be out this year. But golly gee whiz, we're certainly staying tuned.

Oh come on, don't be silly. It was just for a Christmas party, it means nothing. They simply thought it would be cool to share it with us, no big deal. Just... just stay tuned.

I think fans being teased is kind of fun. But when other companies *tease*, it pretty much always will eventually lead to the fans desire being satisfied within a reasonable amount of time.

Blizzard is a good example. They've done various teasing activities which really got people wondering WTF was going on, but after a week or so they end it with some kind of announcement, release of media etc.

Over time I think what has been going on regarding DNF is doing is more accurately described as *taunting* fans. The only reason I say this is that if you stop and think about it, the only discernible purpose of what goes on seems to be personal amusement at the expense of the fans. This is the conclusion I come do based on the facts of people having waited so long, and that the various teasings never actually lead to anything.

I think the reality is that people do want to hear things and see media, but overall expect that to come when the game is near done. I think the problem is that each time these little teasing sessions pop up people start to get prodded to think that it actually means something, and then it abruptly ends and we don't hear anything for a long time.

I agree with that post Lead, but it's really hard to know what 3D Realms is really aiming with this "when we will show the game, it will be in substantial form" -- and then showing tidbits here and there, this teaser wasn't meant for you, but still here it is. Same with those XBLA screenshots -- just a small treat for the fans. Jace Hall footage was a favour for an old friend  The only part missing, is substantial. But I'm very tuned still ;)

The only part missing is that they don't want to call those media releases substational. Which they were. Especially considering complete blackout for several years. Do, either they want to fuck with us for their own entertainment or they just screwed up again.

Honestly we HAVE to see DNF release this year.
Im pretty sure everyone would agree when i say that Duke fans have been through enough shit waiting for this game.

Major, honest-to-Buddha real hype would have to start in the next couple of months for that to realistically happen. Not just Twitter bullshit either - I'm talking interviews, previews, screenies, trailers - full spread PC Gamer type stuff.

I don't see it.

I don't know which is worse when it comes to 3DR's management of the DNF project, their gross display of incompetence or the insincerity in their treatment of their potential customership; perhaps the latter is worse, because it is done by choice rather than necessity.
After more than six years of blackout and promises of only releasing media in substantial form and in a proper timeframe out of respect for the fans, 3DR starts bullshitting with fluff like thumbnail screens, teasers with split second 'gameplay' and fuzzy shakycam footage.
As if this isn't crappy enough, George Broussard deems it fit to 'defend' these releases with phony stories that are so transparent only the diehard fans fall for them (or try to convince themselves they do).

I really don't know what makes some of the people at the 3DR board tick; do they like this kind of treatment, are they masochists, or is it a question of wanting to remain recognised as a believer in case Broussard has got an ace up his sleeve after all?
If that's the case, then I don't understand this position either; after all, if DNF does turn out a universally loved masterpiece, then the believers and the naysayers will be playing the exact same game - no behind the scenes footage or extra levels for members of the DNF cult.
Sure, we got some grumbling from the diehards towards the end of last year; "where is our Christmas trailer", "DNF better come out in 2009 or else", but as expected (because as so much else regarding this game plus ?a change) it only took a handful of weeks and a buglist to silence the discord.
What's up with that (some of you) people, why the hypocritical flip-flopping?
Take a side and take a stand.

Yes, we're at war!

Sorry, I love Colbert.

Oh, and I concur about everything you said. This stupid explanation of the shaky cam as a "for friend treat"... Yeah, no big deal at all to film DNF's gameplay. Like they would allow that in, say, 2006 to do that. That's publicity no mather how you out it. Only leak(if it's not staged) is not publicity. 3dr themselves released every bit of material to the public.

I have an idea. Well, it's really stupid, but I want to share it.

Maybe we(yes, we) just stop posting in DNF section over 3dr forums? Just stop for the sake of it. There is no big reason. And it's not like we stop posting and maybe they'll think about not screwing with us anymore. They won't, I'm not that naive.

We can discuss anything we want about DNF here. Without thinking about sticky or whatever rules they have at 3dr forums. Besides, some users post the same things on two forums.

And no one from 3dr even post there. Well, except Joe, who is allowed only to tease us in DNF section or tell that something is obviously wrong.

And I mean only DNF section of course.

^ Most of us "old timers" came to that conclusion eons ago. One can't ask questions, complain or discuss anything about DNF that hasn't been done a zillion+ times before, so why is there even a DNF forum over there right now? Don't get me wrong, I still check it several times daily, but there rarely a need to post anymore.

Still, there will never be a shortage of new forum members, so there's really no way to get everyone to cease posting.

3DR's DNF forum exists and will continue to exist because there is always younger members who haven't been around for the past 13 years to wait for the game. Ironically, most of them average 13 years of age, hence the viral and rampant stupidity which manifests itself there.

3DR has screwed it YET AGAIN. There aren't any reasons to trust their words.

They have been arrogant and they have lied to us many many times. I can't undersand how can a Videogame developer treat their fans that way, people who are their fans AND future customers.

I wonder how many people just like us could wait so many years for a product of an uncertain existance and STILL have a solid fanbase supporting it. And these guys, just keep being arrogant and unrespectful.

Not even the best videogame in the world deserves this fanbase

They've made their decissions. I've made mine now.

"They have been arrogant and they have lied to us many many times."

This is a VERY VERY VERY serious accusation that you better be able to back up before making.

You wouldn't like it if I said "Psygery has lied to us many times" without substantiating that.

No but it is still very serious to accuse someone of LYING without any evidence(or even further clarification or examples).
