No Daggerfall or Arena in that list? They are both free, and Daggerfall isn't that different from future TES titles so you could consider it a free alternative.

Both even have custom made installers that make them a sinch to set up

Yup, at some point I had those on the list but then I decided to focus exclusively on free-from-the-start, non-commercial games, as opposed to "liberated" (formerly commercial) titles, which are actually well documented elsewhere:

Quiver has a rather functional engine comparable to Doom, however the game itself has generally quite uninspired, repetitive level design (and monster graphics are also rather artistically lacking to say the least).

Quiver is pretty boring, I played it a long time ago and didn't think very highly of it.

My first impression of Quiver was very negative but then I thought that the guy who wrote a Doom-like engine from scratch all by himself (IIRC that's what the readme states anyway) deserves some respect. I assume that with some proper level design it could have been a lot more enjoyable.

I noticed problems with gamers.org a few days (maybe a week) ago, but when I checked later it worked okay again. So I thought that maybe it was under maintenance or somesuch. Now it doesn't seem to be working again. No idea what's happening but hopefully it will be operational soon.

I only do the "concept-sketches" and have somebody who makes proper graphics out of it. The above are early works of him when he wasn't used to digital painiting on a tablet yet (he got better, here is a NSFW link of somthing from 5 years ago: http://evilflesh.dev...-No-2-125959705).
I dug that stuff out as I want to port a few of the games to iOS and Android (and maybe Win Phone ... maybe).
