Free alternatives to classic/well known games

There has been another recent release of LibreQuake, version 0.07. There are new, fully functional models for the Death Knight and the Shambler, plus the zombie is now fully animated. More textures, more sound effects and some new and tweaked maps too.

The Super Marisa Land series (Super Marisa Land, New Super Marisa Land and Marisa Land Legacy) are competent alternatives to the classic Super Mario Bros style.

NSML in particular, is awesome and comparable in scope to the likes of SMB3 or SMW. MLL is not even a freeware game, it's a Steam product, although far from as good as NSML.

EDIT: I already mentioned this in a 2017 post...

I haven't checked it for a while, but LibreQuake version 0.09 dropped recently. It appears that the bestiary is now complete or almost complete, although I find it a bit regrettable that the Deep One Ogre replacement (shown on a screenshot from an earlier build in this post) was dropped in favour of something more Ogre-looking. Many maps received significant updates, as far as I can tell after playing a bit.

An interesting feature is that the "Lite" version of the game, which is aimed for older ports (runs in QDOS too), has completely different levels.
