There's nothing new from the pre-2003 period included, just as with the artbook in the BoSE.

There is pre 2003 stuff in the artbook i saw it in a youtube video.

http://www.duke4.net...nceptart/10.jpg

There is some of the stuff on that wall from 97/98 for example.

Hooly crap I just watched the Extra_DNF_2003.bik. DNF looked like Doom 3 in 2003! Seriously!

Thats nothing amazing since Doom 3 was first shown in 2001.

The game includes these videos

Extra_DNF_2003.bik 61,446,520
Extra_DNF_2006.bik 59,551,284
Extra_E3_1998.bik 86,773,256
Extra_E3_2001.bik 64,270,708
Extra_TriptychTrailer.bik 51,213,452

2003 and 2006 builds videos, and the Tryptych trailer, from before Gearbox was involved. And I hope the 1998 and 2001 trailers will be remastered versions.

Can someone out there upload the E3 2003 and 2006 trailers on YouTube please?

Thanks you !
The Triptych trailer is amazing, much better that the trailers released by gearbox.
They should have used an updated version of this trailer for promo !

They did, with the "invaders must die" song.

No, I mean they should have use the SAME trailer, with the same music... But with the updated models...

Oow ok, i would agree with you there.
It somehow feels like the 2001 trailer.

Yes, it's much more epic than all of the gearbox trailers !

Edit:

I like the trailers made by Gearbox, but I think they should have made at least one epic trailer like this one.

You really can see that 3DR weren't bullshitting about the DNF's design being iterative. The 2003 and 2006 trailers are so interesting, what an amazing extra. Hope one day they release more info about the background of the game.

The Golden Eagle in that 2003 trailer there looks a lot like the one that was in the 2001 version. I wonder if its the same asset or not.

Saw this on Reddit. Someone took Charlie's post and integrated it into the 2001 video.

Sorry if this has already been posted in the thread. I haven't seen it, but then again I'm known to be blind at times.

Just saw this:

1. Triptych trailer is indeed miles better, don't know what Gearbox have been smoking.
2. Putting the raw nature of the footage and the ugly Doom 3 look aside, the 2003 trailer (and the 2006 one to a lesser extent) actually reminds me of the ol' DNF buzz.
3. If there is any proof needed that removing the Vegas nightscenes from the game is a monumental screw-up, the 2003 and 2006 videos are more than enough.
4. LOL at the magical broomhandle.

i wonder if there are still left-overs of your work in the final version B) keep us updated with your thoughts on the final version..
playing the game is a weird surreal experience, but it must be a very special moment for you too i guess, because you've been working on this game - and still it is not the game you have been working on B)

I was originally planning on skipping the demo because I didn't want to spoil anything. But I'm glad I did because it gave me a chance to get out of my system all the things that make me upset so I can go into the full game with appropriate expectations and have a good time. I'm more excited today than I have been in years.

Even though I'm credited as additional level design, in some ways it would have been more appropriate to be listed as a programmer since none of my LD work is in the game as far as I know but a whole lot of the interactivity coding is still there.

I'm glad I'm 5 years removed from it and have had other things on my plate in the mean time. However it will be a lot of fun and you are right... a bit surreal to experience it. :D

I'm really surprised somebody like you who worked on the game so long couldn't get their hands on a pre-release copy. B)

I just never asked. I don't mind getting it like everyone else. I even paid for my two copies. :dukecry:

Charlie can you list of the enemies that were in Dnf while you worked on it please?

Nope. Even if I could remember them all, I am trying to stick to the confidentiality stuff so anything that isn't already out there is no-comment for me.

Wow... some of those things are like going back to visit the town you grew up in and walk around your old elementary school, haha.

I think there has been more created and *forgotten* about that went into DNF through the years than exist in most games.

I try to speak the truth. :D

Actually that was even helpful for me to get a better feel for it. That was a damn good era of development.

I was pretty excited when they announced these old trailers were going to be included with the game. Probably check them all out once I'm done with playing the game. Should be fun!

Is there any place where you can check them inside the game? Where is the menu for them?
Or do you have to search for them inside the folders?

Once you finish the game first an extras menu appears on the title screen. Has some other interesting goodies that I won't spoil here.

Charlie - was the previous iterations of Forever meant to be more open-structured within levels? Cause they brought us a corridor shooter which is totally untrue to 3D's legacy. I know that much things changed, but was it like this since the beginning?

Fecking ace thread Charlie! Never knew most of those bits were playable. This
definately puts to rest some of the urban legends it has spawned.

Can't wait until Monday night!
