i wonder if there are still left-overs of your work in the final version
keep us updated with your thoughts on the final version..
playing the game is a weird surreal experience, but it must be a very special moment for you too i guess, because you've been working on this game - and still it is not the game you have been working on
I was originally planning on skipping the demo because I didn't want to spoil anything. But I'm glad I did because it gave me a chance to get out of my system all the things that make me upset so I can go into the full game with appropriate expectations and have a good time. I'm more excited today than I have been in years.
Even though I'm credited as additional level design, in some ways it would have been more appropriate to be listed as a programmer since none of my LD work is in the game as far as I know but a whole lot of the interactivity coding is still there.
I'm glad I'm 5 years removed from it and have had other things on my plate in the mean time. However it will be a lot of fun and you are right... a bit surreal to experience it.

I'm really surprised somebody like you who worked on the game so long couldn't get their hands on a pre-release copy.
I just never asked. I don't mind getting it like everyone else. I even paid for my two copies.

Charlie can you list of the enemies that were in Dnf while you worked on it please?
Nope. Even if I could remember them all, I am trying to stick to the confidentiality stuff so anything that isn't already out there is no-comment for me.

Wow... some of those things are like going back to visit the town you grew up in and walk around your old elementary school, haha.
I think there has been more created and *forgotten* about that went into DNF through the years than exist in most games.

You really can see that 3DR weren't bullshitting about the DNF's design being iterative.
I try to speak the truth.

Saw this on Reddit. Someone took Charlie's post and integrated it into the 2001 video.
Actually that was even helpful for me to get a better feel for it. That was a damn good era of development.
