Prey 2 to be out in 2012
#241 Posted 13 February 2013 - 10:17 AM
Why would they have any more luck than anyone else contacting Bethesda?
#242 Posted 13 February 2013 - 10:33 AM
Imagine Hines' or Howard's face when Frederik actually asks that...

I asked Frederik Schreiber & interceptor (even though fresch & his team is working on ROTT) to take some brief time to tweet bethesda for more information on prey 2's status & that the fans want this game. just wanted to let everyone know
Err... uh...
#244 Posted 13 February 2013 - 05:16 PM
Because it shows that even a Game development studio wants prey 2, that speaks louder than you think. ROTT is gonna be awesome. : 3

Interceptor Entertainment has released how many games? I forget.
#246 Posted 13 February 2013 - 07:42 PM
It's a no brainer - Interceptor will contact Bethesda, and Bethesda in turn will beg Human Head to please finish this fantastic game.
Human Head is actually hiring a lot of people, so something is up; and I would be very pleased if Interceptor would get a well deserved credit for the release for Prey 2.

Huh... that Alien-Noire site has changed slightly. There's now a subscription link for upcoming news. Also, I mistyped it as aliennoir.com and that pushed me to the original site, so there's more than one domain pointing to it.
#248 Posted 16 February 2013 - 12:53 PM
i subscribed to the news on aliennoire.com. so...is this an Actual sign of things to come or not?

That big planet image is an older one. Here's what you get when you sign up on the website... see the city lights around the middle?

There's also a Facebook page for the website www.facebook.com/AlienNoire

Hmm. Maybe they're scraping the Prey brand of the game and just calling it Alien Noire? Completely unrelated to Prey? That's not so bad, I suppose, if so. I'm just thinking out loud here. They haven't once called it Prey yet.

i'm pretty sure they are still keeping it Prey 2. they just want to use Alien noire, not as a name.

Yeah even if it's not called Prey 2 and has nothing to do with Prey, then it's not a big deal. Obviously this game doesn't really have anything to do with Prey in the first place, either story or gameplay-wise, except for the tie in.
#257 Posted 16 February 2013 - 10:42 PM
is the "Stranded human" Referring to Killian Samuels? or will we be playing as Tommy once Again? if you dont know who killian samuels is, here ya go.

The Thing is, we dont really know how the Whole Story of the game would play out. how strong of a tie prey 2 has to prey 1 is still unknown. yeah Tommy is on Exodus and Killian was on the plane seen in prey 1 and lost his memory after a brief battle with aliens, even then we dont know how strong of a tie prey 2 has.

Personally, I wouldn't mind see it as its own franchise. I always thought the offshoot from Prey 1 was a bit strange, considering how far removed from the first game it was, or seemed to be. It felt like it was just something thrown in. An excuse to create a completely new story and gaming world. IIRC, the aliens from Prey 1 were even retconned in appearance? What about this is even remotely similar to Prey 1 besides the aliens? No portals, no Native-American perspective storyline, no supernatural concepts like what was in the first game, and no "not dying" game mechanic, at least nothing mentioned. It's Alien Noire. The title itself paints a picture of something that seems so far removed from anything to do with Prey. Which is fine. I think making it its own franchise would be the right way to go. Of course, maybe the story DID tie into Prey 1 in a lot more ways. Who knows? I guess we'll find out.

Yeah like Musicallyinspired said, this game is completely different from the first in every conceivable way. Sure, there might have been a strong tie in to the first game (although this is not very likely since they'd want to appeal to a new and larger audience than those who played the first game), but when you think about it, how easy would it be to change the origin of the protagonist?
Guy is a bounty hunter on an alien planet with no memory; the fact that he arrived on the plane from Prey 1 is superficial, it has no real bearing on the story and could be changed to anything. And as for Tommy, well just change his name to Johnny and hey presto you're completely separated from Prey 1.

Essentially its a Spin-off. Simple as that.

Here's a pretty neat article that sheds a little insight on the initial Radar Group Human Head idea for Prey 2.
http://www.nowgamer....led_series.html
I doubt any real work was done, as they were working on Project Soma for Ubisoft throughout 2007 and 2008. I really hope Prey 2 makes it. It's such an incredible idea it's baffling it hasn't been attempted before. I really think Bethesda lifted a lot of Prey 2's ideas and transplanted them into Dishonored, which as I've been told was initially more of a grounded Looking Glass-derivative before they added the supernatural elements/powers into the game. Arkane didn't mind selling their studio to Bethesda, and obviously they would rather give the resources and support to a studio they own. If Prey 2 sees a release I hope that Human Head Studios are appropriately credited, even though they deserve so much more than that... Considering how Bethesda treated Inxile, Splash Damage and Obsidian, I can't see them being anything but unreasonable.

The Alien Noire website has changed again.
The Collective have spliced into the Regime's feed to reveal the truth!
http://www.aliennoire.com/
The site says prey 2 at the top and at the bottom it says Bethesda Softworks and Humanhead studios with their logo's at the bottom.

We'll know next week! If it's official... awesome! If it's not official... well, that's still awesome! Anything new is great and anything that wakes Bethesda from its slumber is great, too.

Well said. Either way, I'm sure there'll be a ton of Prey 2 talk next week. I look forward to seeing the reveal!
