Prey 2 to be out in 2012

It was just (cancelled) MP. SP is wholely in the Levine's department.

Human Head worked on both the cancelled MP and SP. Check out the resume:

BioShock Infinite (FPS, Xbox 360/PS3/PC): (Contract AI Programmer on site in Quincy, MA)
 Designing and implementing: boss battle, enemy AI types.
 Debugging AI behaviors, pathfinding, perception, etc.

Infinite is also being worked on by 2K Marin and Digital Extremes. It's Irrational's vision though.

Did you even watch the episode? The goatee makes people evil.... hence Spock is a major reference in the show.

I haven't even heard about "Community" but claiming that goatee is a reference to this show is mistaken since it is obviously a reference to Star Trek.

Also I tried making it my sort of hair colour and I just look like I have a dwarf beard or something...

I interpreted it as a rally for Prey 2 fans. Last year Community was being rumored to be cancelled and fans of that show did OccupyNBC with those beards on.

The Prey 2 beard image was posted on March 4 maybe as an attempt to get people to realize the game might be cancelled. No one noticed it though. The original dutch rumor about the game being cancelled appeared weeks later on March 23. Everyone took notice to that!

Yeah my heart really sank when I heard that dutch cancellation rumour. Wished I had picked up on that Community call earlier. I didn't think anything suspicious was going on until August this year, then I went back and had a look at what was actually said and became extremely worried for the game. Nothing Bethesda have said adds up. If the game had quality issues, why were there Prey 2 flyers in Rage (October) and Skyrim (November) when the contract dispute was going down? It's a shame that fans assume the game is safe and sound and in better shape than ever. Since October you can't even get Bethesda to say the name 'Prey 2,' let alone give us any form of update.

Those flyers were ramping up the PR push for Prey 2 had it been out on schedule with no publisher conflict this last Spring. Imagine it... we all would have played it and the DLC by now! And Prey 3 would already be in the works. It's like Bethesda took a suitcase full of cash and flushed it down the toilet because they were too stubborn to give it to the developer to finish the game.

Exactly! Bethesda have wasted over a year, all the while misleading fans with statements like 'We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule,' it gives the impression that they've doubled down on development expanding the scope of the game and the only reason the game isn't on store shelves now is Zenimax's unprecedented drive for perfection. Folks think the game is in better shape than ever thanks to an extra year of development time. Imagine what Human Head could've done a sequel...

Does anyone know if Killian was a voiced character? The only mention of it I've found was in this post: http://www.holdtheli...ce-prey-2.3240/
HH had a great writer working on the game, Jason L. Blair. He's since moved on to Volition to work on the next Saints Row.

That's a good way of putting it about Bethesda doubling down on a wasted year. If they back out now, that statement alone could show how they didn't really care.

I hadn't read that article before, thanks for posting it! As far as I know no voice talent was announced or recorded. They did have a composer working on the soundtrack however. His name escapes me at the moment... I know he worked on Dead Space though. I wonder if he will eventually post some samples from it for his portfolio?

Yeah, Jason Graves and Mark Morgan collaborated on the soundtrack.

Talk about top notch talent! Loved the first Prey soundtrack, it would be great to hear what they were working on.

Didn't Soule do the first Prey soundtrack?

Yeah, he did. Just re-read my post, I didn't mean to imply there was a direct connection between the two aside from being part of the same series. I can't think of many collaborative soundtracks in games so it would be pretty neat to hear what they were working on.

Off-topic: Did anyone ever check out Soule's Amen the Awakening soundtrack? It was used in a recent reboot attempt by many members of the original Cavedog team. Sadly, it didn't gain much momentum.

Edit: Just saw that Timothy Gerritsen is back at Human Head after four years working on Bioshock Infinite. Awesome news! One of the best business guys in the industry.

Something new??? I can't figure out what it's doing though since it's just one page.

It's a countdown. Not sure what to.

It looks like it has the prey 2 logo scrambled and the keywords in the source for the page list Prey, Prey2, Prey 2, FPS, Bethesda Softworks, Human Head Studios as well as Alien Noire.

So it seems to me like it's a countdown to something Prey 2 related.

Alien Noire wasn't that the art style/ tone Prey 2 was going for?

Those symbols definitely look similar to the alien language in Prey.

I just saw that Bethesda have finally announced a release date for the PS3 Skyrim DLC. Maybe with a new year there going to finish what they've started? http://www.ign.com/a...c-dated-for-ps3

OT: I played about three hours of Prey last night after activating my old retail copy on steam and man alive does it hold up. The game has tons of set pieces and such a unique vibe.

I highly doubt Skyrim developers are/were involved in actual development of Prey 2.

You should consider Prey had a good beginning. Which is also why demo was that impressive and interesting.

It could be now that the PS3 Skyrim DLC is finished, Bethesda will be seeking OTHER sources of income. They were suppose to release Prey 2 last year, but failed leaving a big hole in product placement and profit returns. All they had was Dishonored and repacking old Doom games, right? Remember, they're funding MachineGames and Tango with nothing from them for release on the immediate horizon.

Think of it this way... if you could take a game that's 3/4th of the way finished -- which already has a major market penetration and presence -- wouldn't you be willing to put up the whatever 1-2 million to finish development on a $10million+ AAA title? Seems like a no brainer, but then again... Bethesda hasn't exactly been acting like they have a brain.

I didn't mean to imply that Bethesda game studios are working on Prey 2 (there most certainly hard at work on Fallout 4) just that Bethesda are publishing the game and should resume development. Lazarus is right, in 2011, Inxile's game bombed, Rage under-preformed so Skyrim had to pick up the slack. In 2012, they basically halved their projections by removing Prey from the lineup. Despite countless missteps, Bethesda clearly has the cash to finish the game. The small investment required to restart development would be peanuts compared to what they'll get when it's released.

Re Prey 1: That's a common complaint that the game is front-loaded, which I disagree with. However, I do wish it had retuned to an earth based location (like a shopping mall, farm etc) just once more for varieties sake. That's probably my only complaint.

It might not mean anything, or it might mean something good. Who knows? Let's hope it is good though. Nice find. :P

I recently heard that Halo 3 and a few other games like angry birds were found the same way.
The site owners say that shit found with that site should be taken with a ton of salt and hype should not commence based on the found results.

Rumour has it that this is a countdown site for Prey 2 and it's going to end on the March 1
Some members down at neogaf found some key words in the site's source code, like "Prey, Prey2, Prey 2, FPS, Bethesda Softworks, Human Head Studios, Alien Noire"
http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=511313

It sounds more and more likely that the game is actually going to make it afteral.
If we are to combine the rumors of this site and the the fact that prey 2 was found in the steam data base, we have lots of rumours from lots of directions all of a sudden.
So this might be it.
