This is pretty damn amazing and has been all over the news this week. I'm surprised there's no threads on it yet.

As soon as I looked I knew what you said was true.
(And I am always watching the news!)
But heh, the voice sounds a bit... "off"

I watched my girl walk today. Kind of sobering for a 22 year old that only has a lousy A.A under his belt.

In other news, the Swedish Pirate Party is providing Internet connection for The Pirate Bay....thoughts?
#1058 Posted 18 May 2010 - 07:15 AM
Any action taken to support the Pirate Bay is good in my book. Although, I'm surprised it's still active, what with its founders going to prison...

I just spent the last half hour or so connecting my linux laptop (Lucid Lynx) to my Windows 7 PC and setting up the printer to share between the two...I am a god.

You are a lackey not a god. Thor is a god

Was Thor ever able to make Windows 7 professional share ANYTHING? Of course not...he just an Asgard commander.

I continue to show my godness: I can now remote desktop into my Windows 7 desktop from my Ubuntu laptop. Worship me, peons.
#1067 Posted 11 June 2010 - 10:21 PM
And that was difficult or god-like why exactly? Seems like an easy thing to do.
#1068 Posted 12 June 2010 - 07:45 AM
Windows 7 turns off all of the sharing stuff by default. You have to find the parts of the system settings that turns that stuff on before you can set up the share. There was also the really weird issue where Ubuntu didn't like the computer name so I had to grab my local IP address.
#1069 Posted 12 June 2010 - 09:19 AM
Why do you need shares? Just install something like UltraVNC and have a remote desktop. Nope? Although, I must say that I didn't try this myself.
#1070 Posted 12 June 2010 - 09:54 AM
It would work (much easier, apparently). In fact, the tutorials I found for this sort of thing just said to use VNC.
I wanted to have the shared printer so I can print from anywhere in my house as long as I have wireless. If I am sitting on my laptop and need to print something, I would rather just send it to my printer in my room than load it up on my desktop. It saves a little time.
In truth, I really don't need any of these things but I have been bored as hell lately...not having a job kind of sucks right now especially since I need to have enough money to move in August.

Been watching the original Doctor Who, William Hartnell. He's not bad.
Paul McGann will always be my favorite. They totally need to do a Time War movie with him.

I always wondered how would I be out of work if I get fired some day. Sometimes I even want to get fired. To just sit like 3 months alone doing nothing. Of course, that comes from a knowledge that I would find the job easily which I might not. Especially when my current occupation is probably one of the best in the city.
#1073 Posted 13 June 2010 - 10:04 AM
Being unemployed isn't bad as long as you have something to keep you busy..which I don't really right now. When I was still living at school but not in class it was nice because I could just call up my friend who is still unemployed up there and we would hang out. Of course, once the money starts to run out things get bad.
I've applied to work at UPS and maybe I could get transferred to DC when I move in August (which would be nice) so I have a job while going to grad school. I am pretty sure I could get a job on campus or something but I wouldn't mind having a job besides that. It never hurts to have money and considering how much it cost to live in DC, I'm going to need a lot of money.

Never confuse Career and Job and aspiration.
#1077 Posted 14 June 2010 - 10:15 AM
^The truth.
I was once told that the difference between a job and a career was a career is something you wake up every morning and enjoy...a job, not so much. Of course, since I'm so picky about just about everything, most of my jobs are enjoyable. Of course, making the best out of everything is more of a skill than anything else.

While I do like my job, I wouldn't go there if I had the money for free. Because that's not the thing I want to waste my time on.
