I usually do buy things from stores...but the ridiculous deals on STEAM keep me attached to it. In a way, it is like crack.

I was summoned by the state of Missouri in April (of my senior year of college) while I was in Cincinnati, OH...I went in June 1 when they told me to and told them that I don't really live anywhere right now because I'm moving to DC in August and I have been living in Ohio for the past few years...they sent me home.

At first I was going to say why would they let some 10 year old kid do jury duty, but then I realised you stole blackharted's avatar. :(

Question of the moment:
Would you rather live for 40 years in a constant state of euphoria or 80 years with the rare occasion of short lived euphoria?

Seeing as i like life, no matter how pathetic it can be at times, i would rather live as long as possible even if there's a rare occasion of euphoria.

Would I still have to work during those 40 years?

If I was euphoric all the time and had to flush 22 of those 40 years down the crapper of working, I'd probably gamble on the 80.

If 70 out of 80 years are going to suck anyways, and I have to work 52 years, there's a good chance that the 52 and the 70 will overlap, leaving me to enjoy the other 10.

Unfortunately, 7 of those 10 will probably be between age 0 and 18.

Sounds like a shit deal no matter how I look at it.

Kinda reminds me of that Full Metal Jacket quote

I am... in a world... of SHIT...

Someone called me out on this question earlier...let me clarify the question:
Would you rather live for 40 years in a constant state of euphoria or 80 years with the relatively rare occasion of relatively short lived euphoria? Relative to constant, that is.

I never said that the 80 years are crappy...just not constantly Smiling Bob happy...

No other variables were considered in this equation besides happiness and life expectancy...don't add crap like work unless that affects the other two.

I would still take the 80 years, hell i'm greedy, give me 100 years and i guarantee i could still enjoy life.

Besides aren't the only people who live in constant euphoria drug addicts (heavy duty stuff) and crazy people?

40 years. If that would mean I don't need to work. Hell, I'd rather live like that for 10 years(since today).

And besides, I can't say that I liked your question. Because I like sitting on my ass and watching movie/music/game. I can hardly call that "euphoria".

Well, there is always a thought that with each second you're closer to death.

Well, it certainly does pose the question what's the point in going on.

If people didn't see any point in going on then everyone would have committed suicide, because they would have no reason to live, so there is apparently a point to going on.

I knew you (of all the people here) would say that. :)

I never said what that "euphoria" was...it is a freaking abstract noun.

That doesn't mean there is some reason. No reasons to live, no reason not to live. Because there is no way you'll overcome the fear of suicide/dying without a reason. You just live. Because you've got used to it.

Of course, some people do have (many) reasons to live. I'm not saying that none have.

The real question is do you know that for a fact and is it possibly true. No one will ever know, you can only make blind guesses.

No one will ever no is there is or isn't a reason to living. Guess i wasn't clear, my bad. :)

Huh? I never said I knew: "it certainly does pose the question what's the point in going on". I just don't see reasons for myself. That doesn't mean there aren't any ultimate reasons. Fore example, there are lots of religions with a straight reasons to live. Perhaps, some of those are true. Although, I doubt this thus I don't have any.

I just realized something, Mr. Flibble never said if he would take 40 years of euphoria or 80 years of little euphoria. I'm curious to know his answer to the question.

@ lotan: I know you didn't say you knew. I'm just making this discussion more interesting. :)
