Advertisement like that would not prompt us to go to New Zealand. But my new girl is helping me to overcome my phobia of earthquakes - so sure, if we go there then let's see where they filmed The Lord of the Ring Posted Image

I think a phobia of earthquakes is quite a healthy phobia to have.

My brother lived in New Zealand for 5 years and loved it, no earthquakes at the time, but he did meet Jake the Muss who is a walking earthquake.

I've always wanted to see new zealand. The nature is amazing.
A lot better than all the mud we have in denmark... We only have 3 good months a year, the sunny ones.

A phobia by definition is a disproportional and irrational fear, so it is never healthy.

Yes, but I would rather have a phobia of earthquakes than clowns or spiders. Earthquakes deserve to be feared clowns don't.

A phobia of earthquakes can prevent you from living in or even visiting places like California. A fear of clowns doesn't rule out an entire state.

Yet it might, considering all those clowns residing in Cali Posted Image

@ Ripemanewone - I think no phobia has a benefit or is better than another one. Eventually one should learn to control it.

What's it like to have a phobia of earthquakes anyway, are you constantly thinking about them when near fault lines? Or is it more like "fuck that I'm not going to L.A. I'm not even gonna play that level in Duke 3D because I am in fact afraid of quakes."?

As far as I know I don't have any phobia...yet. Actually maybe I do now that I think of it.

Also Deus Ex HR is €4.79 on the stream sale with 44 minutes left, amazing deal if anyone is yet to play it.

I am not a spokesman for this phobia. For myself, I simply try to avoid the visiting those places. As for playing Duke 3D, lol, nah, not that bad, it's still just a game to me.Posted Image

Seismophobia, I saw some info on it here http://www.fearofstu...of-earthquakes/, have you ever been in a earthquake situation before?

That makes sense, I would be paranoid of quakes too if that happened to me. In Ireland we only have to worry about the odd flood.

Advertisements such as this have no effect on me whatsoever. I already have plans to visit certain countries and nothing else really interests me.
1. France
2. China
3. Germany
4. New Zealand
And maybe Canada.

Not necessarily in that order. But I've already been to France and New Zealand so they're lower on my priorities.

New Zealand is like Australia which has been compressed by squeezing out all the deserts plus sheep2.

Well there are a few tourist attractions in Berlin I'd like to see. Besides, I studied german in high school for 3 years. I've forgotten most of it, but I'm sure if I was put in the right situation it'll come back very quickly, such as visiting Germany. I wouldn't have a HUGE holiday there, but I find the country interesting enough to warrant a decent visit.

Sorry to burst your bubble but we are mostly a dairy country now so the whole "sheep" thing is redundant now. :P

Last time I went on a trip somewhere, I drove my family nuts and didn't sleep for a week. Combine no sleep for a week with around 6 cans of Pepsi the previous night before heading home. I was literally bouncing off the walls.

Plane ride was fun though. I got to sit in the cockpit when the plane landed. Got a picture of it as well as I made a video of the plane landing, as well as taking off. I specifically requested the seat that was right in front of the left engine if I recall.

The pilots were quite impressed with my flight simulator knowledge. They said that if you can fly a 737 in FSX, then you can fly this 737. Aside from the physics, it's the same plane, both by the looks as well as the aircraft's systems mimic the real thing. Starting the plane is no simple matter as putting the key in the ignition. There's quite a sequence in order to start it up. Shutting it down is easier though.

Of course, I'm referring to my add-on 737, not the default one that comes with the sim. Funny enough, the guy in this video who's talking to the pilots flies the same plane as me.

Okay you maybe correct, but where I live I see more cows than sheep because my district is prime land for dairy.

http://www.stuff.co....ows-fewer-sheep

But give that at least two more years and they should be neck and neck.
At least 80% of the farms I know of have all converted to dairy because that is where the money is now.
This kind of shit happens when we have a free trade agreement with China.

My girlfriend and her idiot friends are going to see a medium tonight, I am disappointed in her naivety for believing in such nonsense.

She had the same dumb argument they all say "but my friend said he knew things about my dead sister only I knew etc".

Seems to me that you only need to have someone close to you die then you become able to believe all this crap.

Their is no evidence for any of this crap being real, none. On the contrary there are countless accounts of fraud and tricks.

This has me pretty angry, these cunts praying on feeble minded people who are desperate to get in contact with lost loved ones, I would love to force this medium to admit he is full of shit.

My girlfriends logic for believing such crap is "my family all believe it, it's the way we are" . :P

Don't want to turn this into a shitstorm, but many religions are sort of similar to this. You should just ignore it if she wouldn't bother you with it or, Satan forbid, force it onto you.

Exactly. She would never press that stuff on me she knows better, even though I let her read my tarot cards for a laugh as it is interesting, sort of.

She didn't want to tell me at first as she knew I would get annoyed and it cost €50 and we have no money at this time.

The other day she gave tarot readings to some of her friends (all teachers also) and afterwards they were all crying like babies! These are fucking adults man!

I know live and let live and all that but sometimes I get sick of the unending bullshit. I think it's time to grow up, and forget about this nonsense.

I have friends who very strongly believe in the paranormal. Sounds like it's annoying you enough for it to be a dealbreaker. If you're not tolerant enough to deal with the fact that people have these beliefs, break up with her. And I suggest that you tell her that it's for that reason.
