I have friends who very strongly believe in the paranormal. Sounds like it's annoying you enough for it to be a dealbreaker. If you're not tolerant enough to deal with the fact that people have these beliefs, break up with her. And I suggest that you tell her that it's for that reason.

It's no deal breaker, we are together 10 years and I knew what sort of stuff she is into, her dad used to read tarot cards professionally (if there is such a thing). I can deal with it but it doesn't stop it being annoying sometimes.

Anyway people go through different phases, she might wake up and if she doesn't its no big deal. I am in an annoyed with bullshit phase right now.

Dude, did you even read his posts?

Yes.

She's not forcing it on him, but the fact that she believes in it still irritates him. Depending on how strong that belief is, it could be causing problems.

I don't know, I've seen people break up for all sorts of reasons. A friend I know broke up with her boyfriend because he played World of Warcraft a lot.

I can only applaud Ronan for not being a complete dick about it towards her.

Achenar: it's only normal that in a relationship both parties are annoyed by some small things about eachother. Have you been in any mature relationship or do you just break up at the first negative sign? :/

Actually, I was the victim of a "first negative sign" breakup. Several times. So maybe I'm jaded.

I have tried to reason with her and try to understand why she believes in such things, it seems to me she wants to believe and she is happy enough with that reason also she knew a lot of people close to her that are now dead.

What annoys me is not that she believes such stuff but that she believes it for no logical reason.

I believe nothing without good evidence to back it up. Like other life in the universe, it's easy to believe something like that as the maths add up and make sense, but talking to dead relatives...forget about it.

She said she is going to try to record the session with a Dictaphone, so that should be interesting.

Most likely consequences of him playing WoW was the reason, not the playing itself. Just like Ronan wouldn't consider breaking up with his girlfriend unless she begins saying crazy stuff to him and borrowing a shitload of money to go to a medium.

I broke up with WoW back in January 2011. Haven't touched it since. Good riddance. I've found healthier games and things to do since then.

Mass Effect > WoW in every way. No XP grind; no gear grind (maybe the multiplayer random unlocks, but that's optional); no spending four hours a day raiding to hope that you get e piece of gear; no gear resets with every expansion. Least with Mass Effect, your choices carry over instead of having your work become moot as soon as you buy the expansion.

That's the other thing when the expansions hit, it's usually a trigger for addicts to come back to it. I pondered for about 5 seconds and said, meh, not doing that again.

O.O I wish I was that good. I suppose if I put my time into the game like you did I'm sure I would be skilful too.

You gotta love those games where 100 different things are happening on the screen. Nowadays most games are limited because it has to look "realistic". Prime example is doom. In doom 2 plutonia you could easily have 100 dead bodies on the screen, max 10 in doom 3. Well, doom 3 was still a good game compared to the other fps games at the time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys having hundreds of dead bodies strewn around the playing field, and oddly I feel more immersed in a game like DooM as opposed to Half-Life 2 where bodies vanish into thin air once they're killed.

I used to love letting bodies all pile up in on location like Bank Roll in Duke 64 so I could then blow them all up at the same time with a pipe bomb , then watch the glorious chunks of bloody red dog food chunks and hands/eyeballs rain everywhere.

Yeah I read that on the news here this morning. I'd argue their popularity and recent lack of success are related.

@ Mikko - no contest with your argument, you are right of course. The Forbes article got me like match on a barrel with TNT.

On the up side, I found a little hockey arena with an amateur team playing on the regular base. So I am done with the very fucked up NHL, but not hockey. I love this sport Posted Image

Ordered a new laptop the other day -- Lenovo Y580 with Core i7-3630QM, 8GB RAM, 15.6" 1920x1080 LED lit display, GeForce GTX 660m and 1TB disk space (and a BluRay drive, I think). It's not top of the line since I could never afford one of those $3000 things with multiple video cards in SLI or anything like that, but it'll definitely be a huge improvement over the ancient laptop I have now! I'm really excited because I'll be able to run games at moderately high settings while I'm in the living room hanging out with my kid. My office isn't really child safe and my wife is always sick in bed so I haven't really been able to play any games in weeks.

In case some of you have been living under a rock, it's the WIP theme for the new forum software the rest of you who weren't under the rock bought with your donations. I hope to have it finished (or at least close enough to go live with it) within a week or so.

*EDIT* seriously though, I feel bad that I couldn't donate for the IPB license , because I really wanted to. Maybe after Christmas I'll donate just for shits and gigs.
