When I woke up this morning I weighted 183 pounds. Then I went to a 3 hour training session to get ready for my next belt test, which included running, pushups and lots of other stuff, with almost no breaks. Since then I have had 64 ounces of fluid and a salad. Nothing has exited my body during this time except for sweat. And now I weight 181 pounds, which means that the workout made me sweat out about 6 pounds. That's a lot of sweat. I suppose a little of that was fat loss, but probably not much, since it's simply not possible to lose fat that fast.

A negligible amount of that would have been fat. Fats are basically triglycerides, and when it undergoes cellular respiration, it produces carbon dioxide and water, so most of the weight would have been kept in water. It's true the water could have been sweated out, but it's likely that the energy you used up would be mostly offset by the breakfast and lunch you had that day. The real secret in burning fat comes from increasing your metabolism, which happens naturally for a duration of several hours after a workout such as what you did.

Of course, don't take any weight loss advice from me, I've put on a few kilograms over the past 6 months Posted Image

Job search is going okay. Want to work in an office or some sort of IT related thing. As for office stuff, I would prefer not to work with customers, but I looked into data entry and I heard it was dead end. As for IT, I heard entry level IT guys start out doing sales as well as IT. Not sure if that's true or not. I don't have a degree or anything. I mean, you've got to be good at math if you want to do IT, and I think I got a 60% in business math. Never taken algebra or anything since I just got a basic high school diploma. Not the one where you'd go into university with (eg. calculus, physics, chemistry...).

The worst malady I've encountered this far is definitely migraine. Again this morning, I woke up with half of my body completely numb and an infernal headache. The bright side is that we have these fancy pills these days that kill the pain quickly except with the side-effect of putting me into restless sleep for a few hours. Now my head feels like it's glass, like in a real bad hangover, and there is a construction site just outside on the street. How nice...

Anyhow, in this weak state I try to improve my mood with music.

This is how the theme of the mysterious and for now shelved Duke Nukem 1998 could've sounded like

I like it. Parts of it remind me of the grabbag snippit at the end of the 2007 teaser trailer.

When I woke up with migraines my dentist said it was my TMJ. Now I wear this silly night guard when I go to sleep and no more headaches.

Before I forget, happy Halloween guys. Instead of pigging out on candy, I might watch some Simpsons Halloween episodes when I get home from work.

Water. That almost always makes head aches go away for me. That and pain killers, but I think it is mostly just the water.

iPod Touch or iPod Classic? I'm leaning toward Touch. I want to store a bit of porn there too which kinda makes the decision harder because while Touch has a bigger screen, Classic has more space (and if I'd go for Touch, it'd be the 32-gig version).

The iPod classic is a stagnant product, it's hardly changed at all in the last few generations. The only thing it's good for is storing large amounts of music. The iPod touch on the other hand has basically unlmited features due to the millions of apps available, and of course the bigger screen. The only downer is the battery life is much better on the classic, so I guess it comes down to how often you're able to recharge.

Yes! This!
In general, headaches=dehydration for me, and a glass of water and five minutes' wait sends them packing.

Speaking of water, there was a day where I was in need of some because I had the hiccups. I actually went into a store to buy something with the hiccups. Standing there trying to talk to the salesperson about some stuff I needed and we both laughed because it was kind of funny.

Edit: It seems that we have a hard drive shortage because of those floods in Thailand. I was not prepared for this. Less hard drives means they're going to be more expensive. Not sure why they manufacture everything overseas anyways. We need those jobs here.

Usually my headaches are caffeine withdrawals or low blood sugar. A good soda pop fixes either right up.

When I was a kid I really enjoyed eating the tomato sauce out of the can when I had finished emptying it. I still enjoy doing it.

I enjoy licking the spatula after emptying a can of premade pizza sauce onto pizza crust.

Blood is blue if it isn't carrying oxygen. So if you start bleeding, regardless of whether the vein (or god forbid, artery) is travelling to or from the heart, and hence lacking or carrying oxygen, as soon as it exists the body it instantly becomes saturated with oxygen and ends up red.

So I heard some German privacy lawyers are non too happy with this EA Origin spyware installed when you play Battlefield 3. This software basically monitors everything you do and you can't remove it as far as I know. Rumor has it that this Origin might be required to play Mass Effect 3. In terms of Mass Effect 3, if Bioware makes the game, shouldn't they have a say in whether this Origin stuff goes in it?

This is a myth, seriously, look it up. Also, saying the arterial blood is blue even within the myth is stupid, arterial blood is FILLED with oxygen. Wikipedia

Omg you're right! I feel sooo stupid Posted Image

I didn't look at wikipedia, but I asked my dad who's a doctor, and he says in the absence of oxygen it just goes a darker red.

Found a cool way to rebuild my icon cache without restarting my computer, observe:

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
attrib -H "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\IconCache.db"
del "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\IconCache.db"
explorer.exe

Just load that into a batch file and your icons are fixed.

Blood exposed to oxygen isn't blue. But blood in your veins is blue. So...
What you said about O2 in the blood makes sense...I have no idea why they teach that shit. But, why are veins blue? Answer that shit, Captain "Awesome" :D

What the fuck. How did I miss a new page?

Veins aren't blue either. It's because of our perception of colour that they appear that way through our eyes.

I believe the whole misconception about blood actually being blue arrives from the fact veins appear blue, and that most biology books present diagrams of the blood stream where arteries are red and veins are blue (only so you can see them concurrently without being confused about which is which.)

I thought blood was red because of blood cells... You know, you get "Red Blood Cells" and "White Blood Cells"... Wait... Why is there no black? That's f***ing racist!

Yeah, someone linked that on IRC yesterday or the day before. It's pretty truthful. The "GRAPHICS: ON/OFF" bit cracked me up, as did the achievement...
