Rep for everyone who helped make me feel better, I'm in a giving mood. Subconsciously I'm trying to have a reputation equal to or greater than Mr Flibble and giving him rep goes against that, oh well. Hank didn't give me exactly what I was looking for but he tried, and he's been saying funny things here and there around the forum which I've been meaning to rep him for.

You need to try harder to keep up with me. I'm not even sure how my rep keeps going up though.

I managed to find out where you get your reputation from! There's a tab at the top of your profile as seen in the clickable image below.

Yeah. I saw that recently. I think it was when there was the first complaint about the reputation system. It gives a link to which posts were rated. I'm glad it doesn't say who gave rep.

Also, does anyone else remember when DirectX10 was the big freaking deal and having a DX10 card was a big deal...what ever happened to DirectX10? There haven't been many games that require it to play. What gives?

It was somewhat a big deal because only Vista supported it.

About reputation log. I saw it right away while browsing through new profile settings.

I don't think there was really all that much more that could be done with directX 10 than directX 9, maybe motion blur and a few other excessive things.

FSX has DX10 preview, but it's buggy. Flickering runway textures and all that stuff. I always use DX 9. However, Flight Simulator 11 (Microsoft Flight) is supposed to be fully DX 11. Supposed to be released sometime this year, although no date has been set.

But, the real question is, will it also support DirectX9? That is the problem I see: this new system came out but almost no one has moved beyond the old system. Progress cannot be made. Are the PS3 and XBOX360 DirectX10?

Not sure. It might. Thing is the Flight Simulator series performance is mainly dictated by your CPU, so you could put in a low end card and it'll still work. I don't know if Flight will support DX9, it probably will.

Did you know that Mass Effect 3 will be DX 9? Don't think it'll support DX 11. Flight Simulator has never been coded for use with the PS3 or XBOX. Probably because flight simulators are meant to be flown using a yoke or joystick, not a gamepad controller.

Aww, damn it

So at work today, out of nowhere, this customer comes up to me, starts thanking me, and gives me a big hug. Is this guy on drugs or what? I didn't even know the guy. I was like what the fuck?

Apparently 360 is DX9 while the PS3 is (Open?)GL. I'm not sure what version they are on and what features are actually supported.

That means the reason DirectX10 never took off and replaced DirectX9 is entirely because of the consoles. Vista/7 exclusivity at least opposed to XP is not what has slowed down the progress; it is the consoles.

They used DirectX10 to render Just Cause 2 for the PC version IIRC and then worked their way backwards to DX9 for the 360.

I don't think very many games have had that though.

Consoles naturally stifle development, because they aren't upgradeable.

How long has the 360 been out? A long time, that's for sure. Things have improved in that time, but the squeeze to fit them on current consoles must be getting harder and harder.

The second and third are nice, though TBH I'm not much of a fan of straight black ink, always helps to put some color in.

Interesting but why would you want permanent tatts with duke nukem on your body? Are you going to still want duke nukem on your body when you will be 70 and your body is going to look like...?

So the 360 is two directX versions behind computers? That really sucks. A long time ago I always thought to myself that this generation of consoles would have been replaced one or two years ago, but there's not even a sign of that happening even now. It's so annoying.

Dude, 360 was released in 2005. Before Vista.

There is. Nintendo's next console is coming in 2012. Although, it probably won't be much more powerful than ps3/360.

Incredible line from Fringe:
Spoiler

This episode is rather ridiculous. So much is left unexplained and that bothers me but things are clearing up...

Also, I am not sure why but shortcode got disabled on my phone when I bought it so I have to figure out how to enable it.

Added:
Spoiler

I hope this isn't the end of the show. Fringe is a really good show. One of the few shows I really enjoy watching.

Last thing I'll say about Fringe:

Most of my spam box is filled with WoW emails about my account being hijacked. Says a lot about Blizzard lack of security. They're fake emails anyways.

I just watched the Fringe episode, it was very good. However,

Teal'c doesn't age slower because Chulak runs on a different time than Earth, it's because Jaffa live for about 200 years as they're genetically modified by the Goa'uld do to so. He aged 50 years just like everyone else, just that it was relatively less due to being a smaller fraction of his lifespan.

I knew Chulak was on a different time than Earth (see quote).

Well, you're wording it as though the years are longer on Chulak and that's why Teal'c ages so slowly, kind of like if a human lived on Pluto, there's hundreds of Earth years per Pluto year ;)
It also doesn't help that Chulak is one of possibly hundreds of Jaffa worlds.

Although it's just a fictional tv show I don't know why I'm arguing over it, I know what you mean.

Could you elaborate what exactly does it say about Blizzard security? Because I fail to understand how spam messages from fake emails got anything to do with Blizzard.

Teal'c did age. he got that white streak of hair that remains through the movies afterwards.

I am also confused about the ending of Fringe:

The emails aren't from Blizzard, but someone disguised as them. They say your account has been compromised (even though it's frozen until I pay another $15). Basically if they ask you to enter your account information to prove you own the account, they could basically take that and start stealing all your gold, items and such. I guess it doesn't have anything to do with their security.

stealing your money is probably more likely...

My account was only compromised once, and when that happened, my credit card was used to ring up some character transfers and such. I got that sorted out and Blizzard told me to get a new credit card. I always keep my system pretty clean, but they also said that some of this spyware comes from addons not made by Blizzard. When I did play, they said places like Curse.com have some addons which look legit but also steal your information.

I try to not store any billing information on accounts. When buying from Steam I always enter the information again. Too bad XBL is pretty shitty at that since you even can't have of password on spending MS points or adding them to your account. And to delete billing information you need to go to their site.
