Here is what I posted at GearBox to put this game into perspective relative to just a couple of games.
Ok... I just have to do this.
Look at this... not for the game being "good" or interesting. Look at what THEY get out of a regular old DS.
It can be done... while this game doesn't look like much FUN, it does look pretty darn good graphically.
Now... look at this game on the DS...
Metroid Prime Hunters... FPS.
Or a review here...
http://www.ign.com/v....bjectid=682835
However... if the game is fun, I will still enjoy it. Until I play it, I just can't say though. Either way, I will be buying it.
I have a SpongeBob game for the DS which operates similarly... in that it is a semi-side scrolling 3D game. But the clarity, frame rate, and animations absolutely blow this Duke game away... granted Nickelodeon put major bucks into their games via THQ, but still... my point is that it CAN be done. It just wasn't.

I did and will. The own the IP right? Randy MUST have know about it.
Also it it true CM is coming out today? 8th April? If so there hasn't been ONE SINGLE piece of marketing on T.V. or anything, apart from the piece of shit trailer.

*edit*
Unable to find the video in question... so...
It is my understanding that the rights to Duke Nukem on the Handhelds (Trilogy) were isolated from the GearBox transition.
Chronologially, the Apogee deal was done long before GearBox was ever involved in Duke Nukem Forever. I speculate the Apogee Duke Nukem deal was isolated from the IP transfer to GearBox.
I can't substantiate this however at this time.
Toy companies do this all the time... like Kenner owns the rights to specific things, but Bobble Heads can also license Star Wars figures BUT with limitation to a non-competing product... like they can only make Bobble Head Star Wars stuff. Same with all the other non Kenner/Hasbro licensees of Star Wars merchandise.
As far as no advertising, I think the new Apogee is a joke... or has serious problems. They seem to be running just like 3D Realms ended up being run... poor everything.

Looks terrible, honestly. Really terrible. I disagree with whoever said this looked like it had the feel of Zero Hour or Manhattan Project. Those games had far more balls to them. This feels like its nutered and stale.

I don't know which interview it was, but someone asked him about it directly and he stated something similar to the above and also he acted as though he knew nothing about it beyond that... like he was asking/verifying with the guy next to him (from GearBox also) and actually said "I don't really know what happened with that..." or something close to that.
It sounds to me as if Apogee (The New) retained the rights to Duke Nukem maybe at least relative to HandHelds.

It is in one of the video interviews of the world tour... I don't know what one.
If I get time I will show you.
I don't expect anyone to believe anything blindly man, and I do make mistakes, but I seldom talk out of my ass, and never on purpose. No need to go barking orders you can't enforce. "go and look" what kind of Bullshit is that?
Anyway, the interviewer just shot it out as a quick question and it almost stumps Randy and friend.
I will TRY to find it just for you though. Give me a couple of days... there is a buttload of videos and this is like 5 seconds in the middle of one of them. The impression I got was they have nothing to do with that IP deal.

You misread my post completely. It has the atmosphere of Zero Hour, as in the art direction is similar, the game practically starts out exactly the same way, etc. It has the same basic gameplay of MP (just dumbed down.)

If I can't find it in a couple of days I delete the post... maybe someone else will remember it though. I just went through a lot of them and learned that I hate people who post/steal/repost video they didn't make that is just the same damn video as someone elses, with a different IconView. Makes stuff like this extremely time consuming.
I wasn't barking so to speak anyway... I was telling you what I learned. Sorry I can't prove it thus far... so if I can't, I will retract it and be satisfied with just knowing it myself.
I will tell you what I remember just in case someone else remembers... it was shortly after PAX during the world tour times. I am almost certain it was a standing interview, at night or dark, and two people were there. (probably Randy and Steve) and near the end of the interview he asked something about the game for the Handhelds and he reacted as though he and GearBox has nothing to do with them... and then said something along the lines of "that was before we got hold of it" or "that was before our deal" or something along those lines. The part I remember with the most clarity is that Randy said "I don't know what happened with that..." in reference to the Duke Nukem Trilogy.
I am trying to find it.

Feel free to blame GearBox completely, without any attempt at redirection by my posts, I won't interfere.

READY!

FIGHT! (ding)

Hahaha... well ok, but actually I was thinking more of between you and GearBox.

If I find this, YOU will have to take it on the chin though.

I wish you could have knocked me into June however... can't wait to play Duke Nukem Forever.

Not much to moderate right now though. Maybe traffic will pick up a little when a few people get Duke Nukem for the DS.

Cool... can I have an infraction? I have not been banned anywhere in a very long time. I think its time for Hope and Change... and NOW... NukemDave is in fact... "The Laww" (insert mouth slur thingy) at least over at Apogee.

Well, I was contacted by them in early February. I was asked if I would be interested in running a Duke Nukem Trilogy page on Facebook for them. They chose me because of my large following on YouTube and Facebook, and because I'm pretty well-known in the Duke Nukem community. That's about it. That and I am now the moderator of their forums.
P.S. The hardest part about it was keeping my mouth shut about Critical Mass not being dead, but I managed to keep quiet.

Thanks for the reply.
Quiet is a good habit to be in... if you ever violate that trust, it will never be regained.
Apogee1 told us the lack of a US Critical Mass release date was due to the problems in Japan.
That sucks, but I can deal with it.
As the Apogee Moderator, will you now be the information contact as well? All our questions got deleted with the old site of course. My complaint in the past has been the very poor site upkeep in addition to the forum contacts going away. Will you have any involvement with that sort of thing?
Example... "The episodes will being released sequentially, beginning in the summer of 2009." I just copied and pasted that from the Apogee Critical Mass page site... like just now. (source page) That kind of stuff seems pretty bad to me. Is hard for new people to take the site seriously with information that outdated. The front page was finally updated though. That is good.
Anyway, will you be able to help with things like that too?

No, I'm not going to be an info contact as far as I know. Just the moderator of the forums. I won't have control of updating the website or whatever, unless they decide to let me be in charge of that, but I doubt it.
