It's actually interesting. The Cycloid battle was originally in the day time and Vegas was at night. Now it's reversed. The Cycloid battle looks way cooler and more effective at night in the rain, though.

...Wasn't the Cycloid battle originally at night?

Edit: Oh wait, you mean the DNF versions specifically. In that case, yeah, it is pretty interesting.

It isn't. Randy made it clear they changed it from night to day to set it apart from all the games that had come out during DNF's development

You mean those hundreds of games set in a neon-filled nightscape of bright lights in the big city?
Makes sense now.

Chris DeSimone, CG artist at Triptych Games: "Well, like I said before there are several different locations and mainly one of them is Vegas and of course if you’re in Vegas, you want to see a casino. And of course, in our game, Duke owns a casino so you’ll get to see what kind of a casino Duke would actually own. As well you’ll also get to see the outside and there was actually a little bit of fighting going on between what to show as far as the exterior of Vegas: should it be at night or should it be during the day? And we felt it actually looked better during the day because we could get better results from the way it looked ‘cause at night you just don’t see as much. And I know that people want to see Vegas at night, but we kind of went the other route with that. And then we also have a lot of terrain maps as well as the Hoover Dam, which of course you know is near Vegas. There’s also, I don’t know if I can say it-- there’s also kind of like an alien environment which the gamer will eventually see. I’m not going to reveal too much."

Brad Jacobs, Level Designer at Triptych Games: "Speaking about Vegas streets, going back to what you were saying about daytime, a lot of games do Vegas at night and us doing Vegas during the daytime not only made it fresher, but it shows off the war a lot better, during the daytime. It’s sort of like the morning after the worst Vegas party there could possibly be; it kind of has that vibe to it and I always thought that was really fitting to Duke."

Nobody minds the podcasts? I think they're cool to listen to, if you're a fan.

http://www.plughead....duke-nukem-demo

"Moreover, demos are supposed to be advertisement tools so people can try the game before they buy it. As mentioned, this particular demo is hideously outdated. The PC version for example is exceptionally console-orientated. It doesn’t even have a mouse pointer on the menu screen. Me and Dave played basically the final game a few weeks ago and that had a greater range of options, including mouse control on the main menu. This demo isn’t just an insult to fans who got caught up in the hype, it’s also poor marketing. You need to blow people away with a game’s demo, and this simply doesn’t do that – mostly because almost the entire thing’s been on YouTube since 2010."

The one thing that does make me wonder is that the reviewer talking about his experience with the "Basically final" version of the game was linked to a very recent multiplayer event he'd been to. I'm not saying he's wrong, but it does make me start to think when his comparisons to the demo and the 'Final' game are based on a multiplayer event.

Not to mention he says the demo doesn't have a mouse cursor or mouse options....which it does.

If you guys want to hear the backround music from the demo, go to the STEAM folder, then to Steamapps, then to common folder, and then go to the duke nukem forever demo folder.

The music folder is within it.

Not all of it. The menu ambience, the stings after the battles, and the intro music are all held inside the bik files, or within the sound dat files.

The youtube ads are tailored after what everybody watches.
Google has this spying mechanism where they know what you watch and then give you ads that make more sense to you...
You should starting using adblock, it saves you a lot of on screen spam...

I'm pretty sure that isn't the case, though, for those ads on the homepage. I'm talking about the big one at the top. That one stays the same for everyone as far as I know.

You're right. I extracted those .MP3s from the Sounds.dat file.

With Nova Software's Extractor 2.5. "Extractor is a program that enables a search for any type of formats in selected files. The size of files found is calculated according their contents and are identical with the original file size. It is very easy to save and then later find the results of your search without having to search through files again."

It's similar to Game Extractor, but it's discontinued and seems like they don't do this type of utilities anymore.

Ok, here is my mirror.

http://www.mediafire...6ie3/extr25.zip

It will extract 161 .mp3 files; music will be in the file "Sounds 00115.mp3"

Then you can use mp3DirectCut to edit, the thing with DNF is that there is several sounds within the same .mp3 file.

http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html

Actually... you gave me an idea, Brandon; I'll try to add that cool music to the screensaver I already did with the menu video. :(
