Its a partial fix I guess, thanks!
Well using that I can get the hrp(svn-folder) to work with say Dukeplus via cmd,
but the xxx-pack (just my example here) in autoload still gets ignored...

Can I use this with Ubuntu Maverick to download Duke: Nuclear Winter Plus + Duke Caribbean: Life's A Beach Plus? Why wouldn't he just let these be downloadable at ZIP files! COME ON Can WINE run .msi files? I don't think it can!

COME ON, just use subversion via command line or get one of the many Linux clients. It is generous of Hendricks266 to give the nerds access to his work in progress. All others will just have to wait for a new 'official' release.

Hi there, I'm the newbe in town !

Well, I'm sure this has been said numerous times, way beyond imagination, but adding a 'Duke It Out In D.C.' HRP SVN repository would be very helpful. Let me explain my point :

I followed 'The Official Add-on Installation Guide' instructions to install 'Duke Caribbean: Life's A Beach' , 'Duke: Nuclear Winter' and 'Duke It Out In D.C.'. Everything worked fine for the first two add-ons, and they run perfectly, but somehow, I can't get Duke DC to run. My guess is, unlike Caribbean and Nuclear Winter, D.C. does not have any .con files, .patch files (even after running the .bat file for the first time), .map files or whatsoever, plus, it's not organized in folders like the other two add-ons.

The only thing that the batch file does is that it creates the 'DUKEDC.GRP' file and the .map files.

This is quiet annoying !

One question : Are you even sure that 'Duke It Out In D.C.' works fine with EDuke32 ?!

DukeDC.grp contains all of this. To run dc just put DukeDC.grp and dukedc_hrp.zip in one folder and make .bat with this
eduke32 /g"yourfolder\DUKEDC.GRP" /g"yourfolder\dukedc_hrp.zip"

I think it's the easiest way.
And yes, dc needs svn or at least an update, because there are some new stuff (couple of textures and lightmaps) in thread.

There is https://svn.eduke32.com/dc_hrp but it requires a username and password for some reason. :D

Edit: Turns out that link just has an extra "s" in there! Here is the working SVN link! http://svn.eduke32.com/dc_hrp

You should probably change https://svn.eduke32.com/polymer_hrp to http in the instructions, and add a big note saying that for svn.eduke32.com links, if you intend to commit to the SVN and you have an account, use HTTPS, but if you are going to anonymously download the data, use HTTP.

I had always just put HTTPS because it would never let me download from it with HTTP, odd
I will change it then.

Coming soon (probably tonight): batch file to download latest HRP or update existing HRP. Super simple.

Were you supplying your user name and password to both? That may cause behavior like you're describing.

I'm new here, so bear with me here.
I finally got tortoiseSVN working right, but now I am getting an error message when I try to open Caribbean:
This application has failed to start because msys-iconv-2.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Screencap:

I have reinstalled quite a few times and tried to install the other expansions, but to no avail. I get the same error.

My bad yet again, update them. msys-iconv-2.dll has been added to the files, making a total of 7 dlls.

Okay, here's a test release of my HRP installer/updater. hrp-update.exe needs to be saved to the same folder as eduke32.exe; you can double-click it, but I suggest running it from the command line.

If you have an "hrp" folder in either autoload or in the same folder as eduke32.exe it will move it to the backups folder. If you have a "polymer_hrp.zip" in the autoload folder that wasn't made by this program, it will move it to the backups folder.

The first run it will have to download all 500MB off the SVN. Each run after will only download the updated files (and delete the deleted files).

Be aware the program will download some tools if it doesn't have them in the folder - wget, zip, unzip, and SVN. It will look for svn\bin\svn.exe. If it's not found, it will download SlikSVN command line edition, attempt to uninstall it (if it's already installed), and install it in that folder.

Source code is below. This program was written in PHP.

This is a test version, would like some feedback (especially bugs, I'm sure there are a few of them). You should backup your eduke32 folder before testing this. You never know what could go wrong.

Here is a VirusTotal scan for the exe.

The Commander agreed that it would be a good idea to move this guide to the wiki, so here it is:

I'd like to draw attention to my possible replacement for this tutorial.

I had the old HRP on my old computer. I remember there were a few issues.

1. One issue was the monsters shook back and forth before they engaged you. You could see them on the monitors standing in one place, shaking wildly. Deeperthought figured out why this was happening, but never came up with a fix for it. That was years ago. Has a fix been found?

2. When you froze an enemy they couldnt fire at you, but they kept moving in place. Was that ever adressed?

3. The water shooting up from hydrants (from the old HRP) was grey instead of blue and looked like steam. Was that ever fixed?

That was about the only issues I remember the HRP having.

So, recently I've tried to update my SVN folder of the Polymer HRP via Tortiose SVN and it is abnormally abysmally slow. Like -30kb/s slow. Anybody else getting this?

So lately I've found updating the HRP from the SVN to be impossible. It gets so far and then errors out saying that it's locked. Whenever I try to update after that it just keeps saying it's locked and won't download any more. Any idea what's up here?

If you're using Tortoise SVN, use the "Clean up..." option from the context menu or the "cleanup" command line parameter otherwise. Then try updating again.
