The explanation is ok. But you forgot to tell that sometimes (during download) you may get a connection error. You can continue the download process from where it stopped, if you just right click again on your HRP download folder and click on "SVN Checkout".

Yes this is correct, I also read that someone got a pop-up asking for a user name and pass.
If this happens it may have meant they went to COMMIT and not update.

Although, if it does ask for a name and pass just click OK and it should skip it.
(if someone can show me a screen shot of this when it happens it would be nice)

TortoiseSVN hangs in memory all the time (autoload).
I use RapidSVN.

For EDuke32's source you don't need TortoiseSVN

Just download the latest source from:
http://eduke32.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/...tar.gz?view=tar

If you want to download 8.0+MB every time a revision is released you can do that.
But I am in favour of just keeping my SVN one up to date. :(

Go to Settings->Icon Overlays and set "Status cache" to "Shell" or "None" to prevent TSVNCache.exe from running.
(Pressing "Help" will give some information about that.)

Set up. Downloading the HRP now. Sweet. This'll definitely make updating it far less cumbersome. Thanks.

EDIT: A little quick shortcut I made for myself that any layman who desn't want to hunt down directories can do: Make a shortcut to that directory in your "SVN Folders" directory (the one exampled in the OP). Then when you want to export just right-click and hold on the SVN folder you want to export and drag it on top of the shortcut folder you want to export it to. Release and then click "SVN Export All Items Here". It'll send everything where you want it to go without the fuss of fiddling with overly complicated directory structures like mine.

I have never encountered this error before, but I am guessing something like this could happen if you were just copy and pasting the SVN hrp folder to your duke folder and not using the export option.
Or you have somehow deleted .svn files inside the SVN folder.

Hello,

Since they day I've downloaded it, I get all the time the same error when I try to update it:
SETTINGS from 'https://svn.eduke32.com/polymer_hrp': Could not read status line: connexion was closed by server (https://svn.eduke32.com)

I would like to know how fix this?

Thanks :)

Change that to http://svn.eduke32.com/polymer_hrp. No S in HTTPS.

I reinstalled windows 7 recently and reinstalled Tortoise SVN , but when creating a directory I keep getting this error.
It's a pain in the ass.

But why do you want to use this dir for hrp? It would be more logical to have D:\Games\Duke3D\ instead...

This is where I had it before.
I guess it doesn't really matter... though this access denied problem goes further then just SVN .. also can't update files in polymer HRP
...same problem Access denied ...

I had this problem months ago can't remember how I solved it. can't seem to take ownership of folders.

Edit: Solved ...well it solved itself ... it was a windows problem. :S

Hey nice guide on the SVN stuff!

But to make this really useful / more usable I would like to know how to combine the usage of "polymer_hrp custom game folder" and the autoload folder.
In my case, I now use svn for keeping the hrp up to date.
But I also want to use the polymer_mus addon. ( And also the xxx_pack ;) )
Normally I would just have everything zipped up in the autoload folder, but once I set 'custom game' to the polymer_hrp folder everything in auotload gets ignored.
This seems to be the loading/overloading preferences of the eduke32 engine..

I've solved this by just replacing the hires/music and hires/music.def folders in the polymer_hrp folder with the stuff from the polymer_mus.zip.
But it would be nice not to have to do this and also, in the case off the xxx_pack this wouldn't be practical.
Also now I can't use DukePlus, or any other mods with the hrp from svn.
So is there a way (cmd-line maybe? ) to get what I want? -> Usage of hrp folder from svn + 'normal' autoload/mod load behavior?

A quick simple fix would be to add the Polymer HRP to a zip file like the ones in the autoload folder and drop that zip in the autoload folder.
Although it would be handy if the "autoload" folder could read folders and not just .zip files.

But that would kinda defeat the purpose of having a nice clean way (svn) for updating the hrp.
This must be possible somehow using cmd-line switches!?
