Most likely, the darkness is due to recent changes in the way EDuke32 handles shading. Unfortunately, the new shading tends to be darker overall, and it makes certain shades pitch black which were not before. Assuming you are already using the latest synthesis build and the problem persists, there's not much you can do about it. Either EDuke32 or DanM's levels need to be re-adjusted.

The 1.02 patch runs from its own cfgs, they have a setting r_shadescale 1.050 which stops it being so dark, might wait and see what the next version of eduke brings before releasing this patch

but for the moment just use
r_shadescale 1.050

1.02 Patch is up on the moddb packed as an exe, also put 2 screens up for DNE part 2, here is one of them :)


DUKE NUKEM ETERNITY 1.02
- New Version of Eduke, and Dukeplus 2.10
- Proper Widescreen support in the new eduke
- Updated Menu Graphics
- Increased Polymer Performance
- Bounding box system for models replaced with better ones, these should also increase performance
- Split 2nd map into 2 maps for better performance
- Fixed textures with incorrect para/spec/height maps with newer version of the HRP
- Included DNEMAPPING.map for mapping with DNE, it contains all models and new textures all with bounding boxes and 4 different types of rotations for the cars.

1.02 patch exe does not work, it hangs with file access is denied.

Would you mind making a pack that has the whole thing (not a patch) and is not an exe? I would prefer not to use an installer or patcher.

Here's a couple of features that I could add to DP, let me know if they would be useful:

* checkpoints: specify a sector as a checkpoint, and the game will autosave there when the player gets there for the first time

* disable menu: a special sprite with a tag that would disable the DP menu, forcing the player to use the specified settings (would also disable the message telling the player to press the menu key)

Yeh ill do the usual zip exe thing with DNE, can anyone give me access to 1.5 gigs ftp space that can support an upload of 92ks, that will make it alot easier to do this.

I will have full eternity exe & zip, and eternity 1.02 only zip & exe so its an easier download for ppl who have hrp / dukeplus, ill include the checkpoint / disbale menu stuff with that aswell, ill guess ill have to wait for a new dukeplus tho

This looks wonderfully crafted, and I'm saying this with being not a HRP fan. It actually matches Deus Ex and other relatively modern FPSs in quality. My computer doesn't allow Polymer, so I can't play it, but watching the demos are a joy. How many levels are in the mod?

Hey I just started giving this another go since I just got a new pc, it runs perfectly with no lag and is so beautifull! loving it so far great work, will make a playthough for youtube some time.

I dunno if you have it, but a FULL UP TO DATE DNE installer would be great, one that would install onto any newly released Polymer HRP.

I found a bug. In Nine one one, after the helicopter sequence in the street, you can't move the mouse... is this because of the code for the cinematic?

EDIT: After checking out, without polymer the mouse works fine, but if you use polymer and look at the entire city, the framerate is so low that the mouse doesn't respond anymore, you can move with WASD but not the mouse.

I thought they fixed that in a recent update? I had the same problem (when the framerate dropped below say 11 fps the mouse wouldn't work) but then TX reworked the mouse code, and on top of the polymer optimizations that followed, it didn't happen anymore.

there is 4 new levels and they all need polish and items and some monster tweaking, and the last level needs a ton of code, i was also hopinh to include muelesa's new monster but iam not to sure what is happening with that

Hopefully Muelsa returns in time so that his great trooper can be included.
Will the gloves be available for all weapons?

just some lvl code similar to what i have shown you in those vids, the gloves have a high chance of not comming back though due to the newer hrp hud models, i havnt updated the hrp in awhile but i suspect that is the case, no ego for health, but there is the trophy system which is rather cool

Try the various texture filter options and see if one fixes it.
