What are you working on for Duke right now?  "Post about whatever Duke related stuff you're doing"

yeah it was my first attemp at animating it. the problem with moving the body is that head and body will be separate models (so it can look around when walking). I´ll have to redo the whole thing, most likely, since i can´t find a way to export my animation into any md3 compatible format.

If you keep the body and legs together as one model for now, it will probably be ok to have the body moving up and down with the animation. If the separation is done after the animation is complete, the up and down movements should still be synced. At least in theory.

I can't see this image, for some reasons, my internet connection hates all Photobucket image servers(but not their main site) and images from those servers will take forever to load and nothing happens now. :P

Meybe it's not EDuke related, but I'm working on importing Duke-Burger map to 3ds max.
I've made preview render after import:

Now I'm gonna rapair all broken polygons, UVW etc. and I'm gonna remake all assets/textures in HD.
Meybe in future I will import that to UE4... who knows.
Cheers

Aww, how cute. The little piggy is too shy to have his picture taken. :P

Or is this little piggie going to market?

This Piggy is going to go 'Wee-wee-wee-wee' all the way to town with a shotgun, so Duke had better be prepared!

It's a revenge project. Soon you'll see that the face is that of his ex-girlfriend.

That looks very good. Where have you been hiding all this time? TeaMonster and I were looking for another model maker for months for our Hollywood Holocaust remake. We made a boatload of models to stuff everywhere around the map and sure could have used the extra help.

I can't believe that's a 3D model, looks like a real photo. Awesome work!

This semester I'm in a class called Distributed Systems, which teaches the theory behind modeling computers working in tandem. It is applicable to game networking.

Would you consider releasing the assets so they could be re-purposed for use in the HRP or EDuke32 mods, or even potentially working with Tea Monster on their project? That's a brilliant model.

I also investigated various forms of parallel computing. The most efficient ended up being each core running an individual, isolated instance of the program, and was managed as a SLURM array job batch. You're welcome to apply it to eduke32 as I believe it'll be the easiest to implement here for multiplayer.

I'm convinced that it's a photo of a physical, real-world construction, and will be until evidence is shown to the contrary.

Maybe it's using photorealistic textures ?

I'm no specialist but with flightsimulation I noticed that photoreal texture being used correctly can lead to some very convincing results although not THAT convincing O_o

If it's a real 3D model then I can't imagine how DUKE3D would look like if everything was redone the same way ^^
(probably like a slideshow if you see what I mean)

That kind of realism can be created in a program called Substance Painter. And when you combine it with normal mapped textures you can get what you see in his pic. TeaMonster uses that program and I will probably buy it soon. IIRC its about $150USD

I'd certainly be impressed if it was modeled considering it'd have a lot of small touches.

I was about to make a comment about how even if it was a model then it wouldn't look anywhere near that good in-game. However I just realized it's the guy who did that Duke Burger 3D max thing earlier in the page, so it'd be interesting to see the assets. I don't think it'd be a good fit for the HRP though, both in terms of style and because it's replicating a texture with a model.

Micky C is correct. While still looking good in Eduke32 it won't look quite as good as it does in other renderers.

This model is Mid Poly (about 2k polys) becouse i wanna use it mainly for rendering and (meybe in future) in UE4.
It's not suitable in term of "low poly" game model.

Guys! I'm just a 3D graphic designer who loves duke nukem. I've started mine personal project to rebuild a Duke-Burger map in 3D with HD assets and photorealistic rendering.
Although im doing it only when I have free time... And I don't have much free time...

In thoese times it's possible to get that kind of detail in realitime rendering. See "UE4 Paris" video on youtube.
But you need a lot of VRAM for all that 4k textures ;)

And yeah, I'm using Substance Painter, but im painting a loot of details in photoshop too.
That asset was rendered in Corona render engine inside 3ds max, but in realtime (game) looks like that:

Cheers!

The picture was so real i also thought it was a real construction, but the shadow under the white boxes and the potential cost of a cement/brick wall made me think the opposite :P
