What are you working on for Duke right now?  "Post about whatever Duke related stuff you're doing"

yer sectors turn bright white as soon as 2 lights occupy that sector, they dont need to be in the same sector but if the light from one SE spills out into that sector then it will go bright white.

simply fire the freezer in a heavy fog sector and it should do it, if not ill make a map with the problem

Yeah, I tried to reproduce the fog/light problem a while back but I could not get it to do it. (funny that)
Maybe you would have better luck at making a simple map that does it Ѕgт.ЅтавЅтавѕ then send that off to Plagman.

Read the console and figure it out for yourself, you might all have systems too weak to run Polymer, but you're not going to stop me building bridges in my maps, there are no new textures in use either, the bridge is made up of sectors and sprites and can be walked over and under. It works in the original MS-DOS executable as well, as I just tested. It may not be as substantial as my Polymer bridge, but I'm quite proud of it - which is a good thing, seeing as it took over an hour to make.

I've been thinking about attempting to make a high quality voice pack for Duke3D. I'm not sure if I could ever completely finish it, though. There's some of Duke's lines lines I can nail perfectly and others not so well.



I used my laptop mic to record that one, but I have a better headset mic now.

Crazy hack! And the clipping works too? Are you able to jump from the bridge into the water?

Tested out on my new computer with 32bit polymost, runs 200-400fps on average.

Some corrections and con editting need to be done to fix some of the translation issues, but it performs better than I expected.

For the lovers of Duke and Quake, you will soon get to play them together!
That's right! The elements that make Duke Nukem great get blended into this Quake mod.
Including so far: throwing multiple pipe-bombs, kick enemys to death, and Duke voice-overs provided by me.
Next to do: Freeze Ray!
This guy is doing some awesome work IMO and he plans to go all out
adding the most Duke related content as possible in this Co-Op MP version of Quake.

Oh,BTW@NUKEMDAVE: That sounded great! I know how you feel getting some lines perfect and others not.
That's why I prefer creating new original lines like this one:

That sounded great! I know how you feel getting some lines perfect and others not.

Clipping is more restrictive than I would like, you can not walk under the archway, but you can walk through the middle and jump on and off the bridge there aside from walking accross the top of it in a normal manner.

Umm... It's in a map I am working on, I would like to release that first, shouldn't be too long now, all my sector work is done so I only have some decoration and enemy/object placement left to do. I'm working about 12 hours a day on this map, so I should have it out soon. I will, however, release the bridge on its own, probably within this thread, when I have finished.

I find it interesting that he has the new chaingun model up and running while it's not even on the HRP yet. I'm not even sure why that is yet, is it just waiting for someone to rig the hand model on it?

Could it be just a coincidence the chaingun looks similar?
He seems very knowledgeable with this kind of stuff and works as a programmer for a company in Germany. As for the hand model, I think he said something to that effect.

The chaingun is a new model that someone contributed to the HRP thread a while back, but it didn't have a hand to hold it and I don't think anyone bothered to do anything with it. I'm pretty sure it's the same model.

I am not sure, this guy added me on Steam awhile back to ask me something and I too mentioned about using the HRP content as a big no no. I thought the stuff looked user made myself. Hmmm

Well the HUD font and this chaingun model both are HRP assets. The fact that the chaingun isn't yet included in the HRP doesn't mean it's free to use in other stuff. I'd just like to underline that this restriction isn't (just) there because the HRP authors are dicks; by nature all assets in the HRP are full of IP that don't belong to the artists. If it wasn't restricted to use only with Duke3D, 3D Realms would be forced to C&D the HRP to protect their IP.

I don't think anyone would say their dicks and should fully understand why these restrictions are in place.
If you really think this guy is completely out of line using the items in question, then maybe in a nice way let him know how you guys feel about it.
In the post referring to the chaingun, this might be a bit misleading.

I don't think the chaingun model guy understood that by donating his model to the HRP he would be agreeing to a restrictive license that would prohibit the model from being used for other purposes. In fact, the language he used suggests that the chaingun can't be used with the HRP, since that would be inconsistent with his intention of making it available to anyone who wanted to put it to good use.

And there's other things to think about too. For one, who knows exactly where RangerC actually obtained that model. Could have been from anywhere on the www. And secondly, it seems anyone might have a tough time arguing the point that content posted in a particular thread means it falls under a license unless it's clearly posted as such.
Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not taking sides here or want to piss anyone off. It's just my opinion on how I see it.

Edit: May I also suggest to better protect your assets, take advantage of your private forums and only allow contributers to send it via PM first. Then when it's time to make it public you can show it. I think a public thread for people creating content for all to use, should be here as well. I don't see it being fair that it all becomes restricted unless the author wants it that way and will submit it privately.

I'm going to rig it and I was actually going to use his hand in place of Parkar's (no offence). I've actually got about 3 or 4 models to get included. That is on top of working on 3 other things that I've been asked not to mention. So, no, it's not ready yet.

Are you sure it's the same model? He may have approached the author of the model.
