1. Never use ammo boxes unless absolutely necessary.
2. Skip certain levels I don't like. Often times it's hard to notice the difference.
3. Turn off the stupid dialog when NPCs are around, and during the Hive. Duke's silence says more in that level, makes the overall game darker.
4. Play my own Duke music in the background.
Quite a ritual but it works.

TDWCM was pretty good tbhngl, especially driving the moon buggy, that part was dope. The Burning Bush map was a nice palate cleanser between the fighting and felt comfy (and that sexy scientist lady bending over when you first enter was bonerific)

Large parts of it feels more like a mod than a professional add-on.
It always bothered me that the strip club and brothel were void of combat, since those are the levels that most resemble classic level design with the various connected parts etc. Felt like a real wasted opportunity, and I think they could have been made into fun multiplayer maps also.

I instantly knew this was bullshit because stuff that was in the leaks, both from the plot leak and all the screenshots, ended up in the DLC

I don't think there was anything about the brothel either, but I could be wrong.
Part of the trouble is in defining if it's "cut" stuff or not is; by "cut" do we mean actually created assets and content being cut, or planned but never implemented stuff being cut? Makes a bit of difference.
Obviously the DLC was not all new ideas, most likely not all new assets either, but they didn't just have a completed slice of game sitting around finished for half a year.

Shit was clearly cut out of the game because of time constraints, they needed to get the game out of the door. It's why the main campaign is so clunky and doesn't make any fucking sense. It's literally missing a quarter of what was planned. Almost all of that quarter was cannibalized into the TDWCM. Of course there's new or reworked content.

I keep remembering the bad bits.'Douche Nukem', the awful scripted Boss battles, the way that the President can't look you in the eye when he's chewing you out. I have no idea why, but that last one really bugged me.
Surely, it can't be as bad as I remember it? Can it be, as infamous-and-now-dead ex-Doctor Who Producer John Nathan-Turner said "The memory cheats."?
One of these days, I'll find out.

There were more than a few instances of that during the game. I remember seeing the poker chips during the casino section. I stopped what I was doing as they looked like textures from the Quake build! I was reminiscing about how that texture managed to survive all that upheaval without being replaced or deprecated. I recalled that when I was reading those articles about DNF all those years ago, this texture was part of the game, and here I am, so much later, seeing it on a poker table with my own eyes, finally.
I remembered many times over the years, when I was waiting for a bus or something similar, when I would imagine reading those articles about the Quake build and see how far my life had come in the intervening years. I would wonder how many years it would take to be able to play the game and what I would be eventually doing when it finally released. I recalled my Brother and his partner, who was a community mapper, who both didn't live to see the game come out.
Granted, a lot of the de-immersion is due to the time frame of the game's production cycle, but even accounting for that, there were too many moments that took you out of the narrative.
