The third episode of the AMC TC, a huge standalone game based on Duke 3D has been released! Taking direct inspiration from the FPS of the 90s, you'll face familiar enemies and settings in a 30+ hour story-driven campaign of original levels full of epic encounters and surprises.

If you enjoy it and want to join us in the discord, here's the link:

EDIT: due to my mistake, both exes included are 64bit; you can grab the 32bit exe here:

You can be certain that we will make sure that EVERY single minute you have spent on this freaking game will have been several thousand times worth the trouble !

See, you say that now, but then you haven't played Zaxtor's (optional!) mission yet Posted Image

There is another optional mission in Episode 3 by yours truly, and I highly recommend you play it!

Spoiler

This is an inconvenient week for me considering I have things booked right after work each day, but I wouldn't be surprised if I still squeeze in half the game before Friday anyway. :)

I wish you guys congrats, really want to take a look in to this after IM duties. I can totally feel the pain that goes in to making something big with build.

Curious;

When extracted the folder is labeled as RC2.
Wrong upload, or forgot to rename it?

Still work with the IW2(?) file?

Much appreciated; and yep, it sure can be a nightmare at times :D I bought IM the second it came out so I wish you guys good luck as well, eagerly waiting for the final release.

nah just the folder I was keeping the release build in, nothing to worry about.

IW2 file is still valid :)

I need to replay IW2 then. I can't find my file anymore.

it's just 2 new guns for James and a slight alteration of some dialogue at the end of ep2, I wouldn't worry about it tbh (not at least until if/when I overhaul IW so it works on newer builds again)

Well I know what I'm playing for the rest of this month.

(now, to avoid this forum for fear of spoilers...)

so then you'll send me a secret decoder ring file in a PM for all my "hard" work? :)

if he checks the top-secret SVN and puts the iw_complete file into his data folder then sure :)

Actually, quick dumb question. I extracted all the files to a new folder, and copied over my data and eduke32.cfg like it says, but when I start it, the game treats it as if it's Duke: Nuclear Winter, just with the AMC sillhouette for the main menu. Should I copy the new files into my existing AMC TC folder? (the one with Ep 2 and its patches)

EDIT: I tried exactly that, didn't work. Good thing I made a backup.

Uninstall Duke Megaton edition, since it looks like it's picking up the files from that.

That worked, thank you. I'd upvote if I could (almost there, though).

Now I just have to remember to manually put the .grp files in the other mods' folders, but that won't be any trouble. Anyways, after work today, it's AMC for me.

For the time being I just made a test or two on Ep1 and I have one BIG issue with the game ... The AMC Base lags like crazy, and using the command center requires severe doigté T_T
Reducing my resolution from 768 to 720 kinda helped but the best results are on 1024 but I can't decently play that O_o And Pixel Doubling doesn't help. I even got a crash on the new fancy cinematic when you go on a mission.

When in levels however it seems to work just like before but I'm REALLY afraid about how it's gonna be for Ep3 after I looked at 1 and 2 in depth o_o Because EDuke32 handles lags like shit (no offense) because of insane roll forwards and reacting to my keys 2 hours later (no offense)

Oh BTW, in the upgrade screen Attached Image: duke0000.png

Congrats! I'll be playing it when I can, but since I lost my savefile and I need to replay ep1 and 2 (which may not be a bad thing) and since I don't have much time for playing these days it may take a while.

That old shotgun glitch is still pestering me. You know, the one that mostly occurs with James' guns. (KSG & Striker)

Congrats on release!
However, for some reason, I can't run it. My system thinks that both of eduke32.exe are 64-bit. I have a 32-bit system. Is it a problem on my end?

Damnit, that's because both builds are 64bit - I didn't think to check since the exes got jumbled around a bit during development.

You can grab the 32bit here:
http://dukeworld.duk.../20180316-6775/

my apologies about that.

Does that mean that you tinkered with .exe?
Because I still can't run it, I get white screen and a bunch of noises, then the game crashes. Very strange.

No tinkering with any build;I just tested that build and the mod works fine - what kind of CPU do you have? I'm starting to think that an i5 might be the bare minimum to run the mod. Try checking the eduke32.log and see what it says.

I'm really looking forward to playing this. James, do you have any advice for someone who did play episode 1, part of epiosode 2 but hasn't touched it in the years since? I feel like I should start over from scratch, but I don't want to risk running out of free time to play it before I get to the new content. What would you say is the optimal way to play for someone who wants to see as much new content as quickly as possible?

Hmm, if you're pressed for time just playthrough Episode two before hitting three - Episode one is only really just starting up the story whereas episode 2 starts solidifying the plot and stuff. Definitely stick to normal or easy since Expert and above have mechanics that can catch an upgraded player out.

EDIT: actually scratch that - just watch the epilogues to the first two episodes and then hit episode 3 on easy mode. It will be a cake-walk for you but that's the best way to avoid trouble.

So that means we must use the one from the link ?
The fact it's 64 could explain stuff from my end. I have just tried with the 32Win from the link and even though the lag at AMC Base is still irritating like crazy, the Command Center's lag is at least more bearable than before but not by much :)

Speaking of that white screen at start I still got it on my end with both builds. It's just quicker with the 32Win.

BTW I have started writing feedback but don't expect anything before a loooooooong while ^_-

I refuse to play on easy mode, but I will do as you suggest and just start on episode 3 after watching the epilogues. I do wonder if skipping episodes 1 and 2 will cripple me in some way by missing out on important upgrades, though.

Eh, it kinda will; most of the upgrades are quality of life stuff rather than 'you do X more damage' though so you should be alright. Just remember about enemy damage types however, I'd suggest picking Mikko, Micky, or Snowfall for the first maps as they have native armour piercing weaponry (Egypt section is a lot more free and there's no damage types to worry about there) The weapon crosshair does change depending on what kind of damage the weapon you has does (so the crosshairs with the T shapes are effective against armoured enemies for example)

Cheat codes don't appear to be working, even on easier settings. Is there a way to reverse this?
