Calmed down a bit and now I wonder what was the reason to tease the fan base like that. For now, I've got 3 variants:

1. This is just another leak to tease us and we won't see any builds in the near future.

Personally, I hardly believe, cause the anonym leaked pretty informative gameplay, screenshots, and answered many questions with proof it's not old footage. To those who doubt the reality of this footage, I assure you that this is 100% real, I saw 2001 builds personally in 2015 or 2016 when I attended the 3DR/Interceptor office in Denmark.


2. It's a marketing move by someone to promote an upcoming Duke Nukem related project. This illegal leak will make a lot more noise than its announcement today, and people will start to talk about Duke. I mean they have already started!

I want to believe it's going to be like this. I miss Duke. I miss other people being interested in Duke.


3. It's a leak by a fan or a group of fans who have access to the builds. They made this announcement to tease us and make people talk before dropping the build. Because it's always a pleasure for the dev when your project is discussed.

It may sound selfish and "What are you waiting for? Christmas?" situation, but... If it's gonna be packed and ready to just download and run, these devs deserve the moment of fame.

For me, this is nothing but bits and pieces of the playthrough that Fred streamed privately some years ago, just like all the other stuff that was leaked during the years (which was also accompanied by claims that they had the whole thing and they would leak it "soon").

Actually originally Critical Mass got leaked early by Unseen 64 it was originally going to be released by Obscure Gamers (formerly known as Assembler games) later in the week and they would've released 2 videos explaining what happened to the project but that all got forgotten because Unseen 64 released it early. But I do believe they are patching in the game like that person said I'm mean to look at those previous videos with everything glitching out it could've been the 02 build but my point still stands it was probably buggy and they're still fixing it does that mean it's going to get released who knows but the stuff that got posted it's almost too good to not be true.

We would have shit our collective pants even if a legit developer just came out and said they're gonna be releasing a finished version of the 2001 build anyway, 4chan posts or no. For that reason I don't think it's very likely.

RE: The authenticity of the footage. Everything that was leaked last year, and some of the stuff I saw prior to that, and what I was told by certain people, led me to believe that none of the streamed content had sound. No sound at all. Either because Fred didn't stream sound, or because whoever did the screen grabbing didn't capture the sound. In either case, listening to the audio on those rather high quality clips makes it seem pretty "straight from the source" to me.

I get a feeling we will likely see this dumped. For how long remains to be seen. Some of the reactions from developers are telling. It's much as I suspected. They don't give a flying fuck about Duke Nukem anymore.

So, at a quick glance at the screenshots(https://i0.wp.com/du...eak_5.jpg?ssl=1) vs the 2003 build() it seems theyd come a bit futher along but changed or updated the art style at some point(The pool in the above screenshot and the above video look really similar, as does the hover car thing)?

Then the 2006 version looks similar but different, then the final version seems like a whole different game(and story) entirely(Id love to see the build at the moment 3DR shut down, before it went to Gearbox).

Hopefully one day the whole thing just falls into place and we see everything, design docs, builds, the lot!!

I think all I know is that 4Chan leak, there was leaked screenshots and video. The build - along with the source code will be released in June. I am probably sure it could be early or late June 2022. If it is true, I would probably expect the community fans to release patches just to make it a fully completed Duke Nukem Forever 2001 game.

I do get what Fred meant when he said "Deus Duke.' Though, I think he overstated it a bit. It's more of a presentation. The shooting feels absolutely like it should for a Duke game. That shotgun is really nice, and it's great to actually hear some of the sound work. We've never heard what the game actually sounded like back then. The 2001 trailer used completely canned audio for the trailer (Every sound was added in, according to some interviews i've read.) and the streamed content had no audio at all.
