Duke making us all proud on the big screen, hail to the king baby! It really is cool that they chose Duke to be among the cameos in this.

Holy cow that trailer was good! Loved the music too (both examples). Spied the Delorean in there too!

So many awesome references in that trailer alongside Duke.
I spotted:
- Harley Quinn and Deathstroke when the guy enters that walk way.
- Mad Max's Black on Black V8 Intercept in the race along with the Van from the A Team.
- Freddy Kruger and the Halo Assault Rifle in the scene with Duke.
Hyped for this movie.
I spotted:

You know, I've got the book and only read a few chapters in. I really should finish it as I'm a "child of the 80's".
I'm especially interested to find out if Spielberg was able to use Tsuburaya Japan's "Ultraman" in the movie. I grew up watching that.
Alot of people thought this would be one of those movies that could never be done "justice" because it depended on so much nostalgia and I.P. owned by different
companies. Many of whom were thought would never lend/rent their I.P. to the movie. Folks over on Aint-It-Cool-News have said(grain of salt) that there will indeed
be a TON of characters/I.P that show up in the movie so hopefully this will turn out well.
So pumped that Duke Nukem made it into the movie, if only for a few brief seconds.

Everything was just way too fucking dark and grimy in that trailer, I don't see the point of all these cameos if you can only make them out by re-watching the thing frame by frame.

I'm getting strong Tron and Wreck-it Ralph vibe. Though everything is almost too dark indeed, guess it's because this is also WB movie.

Are you really sure that you want to spend your money to see another movie based on videogames world after that fail of PIXELS (which many have been deceived by the trailer about the movie quality) and after all the 80's blatantly meta-promo stuff like "The Wizard" just to say one? And when the neither the movies based on single videogames universe are good transpositions coming out ridiculous or edgy trash for kids?
Games are just a beginning material difficult to handle, too much things that work in the head do not work on paper, there are even some original scripts that looks like come out from a videogame when you read them but often this is exactly what happens whit the bad writers.
Also don't trust too much in Steven Spielberg capacity of direct a movie with a convincing and entertaining script screenplay. I must confess that I also hate the Goonies

What did you expect from Pixels? I was expecting "Ghostbusters with video game characters", and it absolutely delivered.
I read people hated that Adam Sandler was typecast to play the only character type he ever played, but that did not affect my judgment, because it was the first (and so far, only) Adam Sandler movie I've ever seen.
Also, what does Howard the Duck have to do with Steven Spielberg? The Wikipedia article on that movie does not mention Steven Spielberg anywhere.

Duh, I've just confused the producing of Spielberg with Lucas. Anyway I would not be surprised if one had asked for the advice of the other...

Feels like everything at once. It might flop. Got Tron and Chappie and Transformers vibe.
Tutti Frutti type of movies don't really appeal to me.
They show everything at once and they leave little to be hyped for.
It's just like watching that old cartoon network commercial where all the cartoon characters would be on screen at once in a bar.
Or another example is the movie series Expendables.
When they are alone, the action stars can shine by themselves but once you put them all together, they become a weird mix just like a food that has too many great ingredients added to it and your brain can't perceive them all at once and they become useless.

FWIW, I thought the Pixels trailer was garbage. I never did watch the film. This trailer was riveting, though. On the subject of not being able to make anybody out, it's a trailer.
I also still think the Cartoon All-Stars PSA was awesome, despite its inherent flaws in execution.
The Goonies rocked.

Freddy Krueger standing next to Duke gets fragged right in the trailer, but hey they might respawn. It's people using them as avatars in a virtual reality game thing I gather, just the cameo itself is very cool, I don't think of them being shot in this deathmatch thingy or whatever being a bad thing. Though ideally Duke (whoever is playing as him) would win this movie and beat the main character and everything.

How can you hate the Goonies?
Btw, The Goonies wasn't directed by Steven Spielberg but by Richard Donner (The Omen, Lethal Weapon, ...).

The kids are annoying, the bad guys too lame and hammy even for a kids movie, pacing stumbles from a disconnected bit of dialog/action to another rabidly, childish ethnic stereotype/jokes (real ones not cheap SJW triggering), when the lines are not banal they seems taken from the worst American Pie movie, excluding the rescue scene Sloth presence add practically nothing to the movie plot, the ending looks filmed at the first take for how is acted horribly.
There is also the historical detail that the "precious gems" could be just worthless colored glass that pirates used for trading. BUT OBVIOUSLY that is a real life element that has anything to do with movie reality.
I don't understand how grown up people can still appreciate it.

No indeed, I'd call it an awful movie.
Otherwise, the only good Spielberg movie was Duel, it's passable, worth seeing once, that's it.

The Goonies is one of the biggest/best WB blockbuster/classic of the 80s, just like Gremlins and Beetlejuice
