Best fan episodes?  "What is the best content out there for blood?"

User is offline   Devon

Hi!
I just finished Deathwish and i enjoyed it quite a bit.
Played the living crap out of the original levels so..

Just wondering what are your favorite fanmade maps/episodes?

Keep in mind i got no prior experience of any custom content exept most recently Deathwish.

I very eager to see if bloodgdx will spring new life into the mappers cause i dont think i can get enough blood content.

Episode "Somewhere under the sea" is one of the best.

Title: Somewhere Under the Sea
Gameplay: Single Player, BloodBath (map requires Plasma Pack)
Author: SpillSomeBlood
Description: This is a 3 level episode created around my Rapture map. All maps are coop, bbath, and teams compatible. The episode is fairly difficult.

Level 1 = Hijack (Previously unreleased)
Level 2 = Welcome to Rapture
Level 3 = Arcadia (Previously unreleased)

French Meat is pretty much interesting to try.

Final Alone in the Dark is unique and very creative. The creator managed to make something good with so much limited resources. To not spoil too much, I could say that the creator managed to make very ingenius boss fight. It also allows you adding (more like replacing) to the game new weapons like Beast Claws. Thanks to that guy, I managed to understand qaveditor which allows making own weapon animations for Blood.

Legends of Iconoclast 2: Unfinished Business

Five episodes with 28 levels, all-new soundtrack and utilizing Plasma Pak features. Similarly epic as Deathwish.

In theory the Blood superpack contains all the major TC and custom maps. 5.20GB
http://www.moddb.com...ckupdate1-31-6b

Not sure if all is on latest version so I suggest to do a little research on the TC/map you are interested to play first, if eventually there is an update just take that one.

The annual BME pack contains a pletora of singlemaps. 231MB

Here some Blood sites where you can find most of the stuff listed and more.

Blood Lost Episode (Eight maps from the leaked Blood alpha joined together into a coherent episode)

Rage Against the Machine (Only first episode released)

Caleb Will Have His Revenge In Toronto (Scum Of Dallas is the only episode)

Maniac Mansion for Blood (An interesting map that tries to replicate the Edison's mansion)

What's the fan-made map pack that draws heavily from movies and TV shows like Twilight Zone, In the Mouth of Madness, etc.

You start off in an insane asylum? You jump through a movie screen and end up in black and white silent film?

Good pick. There were only 2 cryptic parts that I hated. The first was the semi-hidden switch in the 2nd level. To be fair; the designer did make it a little obvious but it's still easy to miss. The second one was purely a guess. I thought if I'd destroy the vents that a hidden path would appear. And lo and behold that's what you're supposed to do to get the key.

Any way to get Alone in the Dark to work with BloodGDX?

Edit: I made it to level 3 of French Meat and I'm not digging it too much. It's way too hard and the ammo is incredibly limited. It feels like one of those asshole romhacks, know what I mean? The modder decided to be an ass and make an incredibly hard romhack with instant death ambushes and very few ammo/health.

That would be Bloodlines TC.

Banzai Addon and The Carnage Continues (Carnage should be fixed in BME mappack version being rescripted one since regular is broken in OUWB 1.21 but is worth playing to see how people imagined plot to continue before Plasma Pak was released).

Luckily Death Wish works in GDX. I got pretty far into that one before I got stuck and then that custom Blood launcher stopped working for some reason.

I like some of the levels of the lost episode, but it really needs some rebalancing in regards to item placement. Also some objects are incorrectly clipping causing Caleb to crouch when approaching them, as well as the chains in the fifth level

I couldn't get Lost Episode going on GDX, sadly.

I made a separate copy of the game's folder, where I extracted the new episode. Afterwards when I want to play that episode I choose a different game directory from the BloodGDX launch window. I use the same method for Cryptic Passage.

I'm about halfway through the Lost Episode and I'm not digging it too much. It just piles on the Cultists and ambushes in really obnoxious ways. It's fascinating to play through but I can see why the whole episode was scrapped.

PS: I was mind fucked when I played it because I completely forgot I installed the Lost Episode and thought I was playing through the original 3rd Episode, I was like "I don't remember this!?" Because it's been about a year or so since I last played through the entire game and the only thing I remember about the 3rd Episode is the hospital level.

I would edit my post but I cannot do that.

I just completed the Lost Episode (the Alpha levels) and it was interesting seeing the devs take inspiration from Doom with the 2 health pickups and constantly destroying walls to make progress (reminiscent of the famous prison level from Duke 3D). But as I mentioned the almost constant ambushes and lack of health pickups made it a huge bitch. Forcing me to quicksave more than usual. I assume the lack of health pickups -aside from Medkits- is due to the unfinished Bloodlust feature that was to be intended.

There's zero references (aside from a frozen Jack and I have a hunch that the modder who completed this put him in there) to horror movies or any other bit of pop culture. The levels also lacked the variety the completed game had.

Anyone have any idea what the Delirium Shroom was meant to do?

Final analysis (if anyone gives a shit): good but way too hard and it's not a requirement to play for Blood-ites.

As I said, the Lost Episode badly needs rebalancing. The author already took pretty strong liberties with it anyway. It gets pretty ridiculous in one of the later levels where you find a ton of med kits (which were instant heals in the alpha) I don't know if the mod change enemy spawns based on difficulty level either, I agree that the current placements are a bit too hard for the lower difficulties.

I think the 2nd level is pretty damn cool though.

Eh, I don't know. Let it be one of those ultra hard mods where you have to quick save a lot. The real problems occur with the lack of health pick ups and Medkits being somewhat hidden (check every corner). The main problem is the terrible geometry leading to a fucked up auto-aim that stops you from hitting cultists at a distance.

Add more health picksup, fix there being no music in level 3, and fix the geometry and you're done.

Now that I think about it, either level 2 or 3 in the Lost levels did make a reference to Phantasm.

Not sure if the modder inserted this reference or not. I can't remember if this was in the original game.

Allthough found a bug, not sure if this is also in vanilla, played in GDX. But when exiting e1m7 and you're supposed to enter the last map of episode 1 you are sent to the beginning of e1m7 again.
