Duke Nukem's Bulletstorm Tour  "Randy hinted at something for December 1st"

"But WT was not designed for that communty. It was designed for a much, much larger market."
https://twitter.com/...392829330616320

Then given sales and reviews you missed the mark of what you think the wider market wants, and you alienated the Duke fan community (which would have pushed it had the quality been there) in multiple ways so you missed sales from them as well.

So apparently making money for your business isn't actually the metric that matters.

Since when was a product where the hook is "we're bringing back the original devs!" not intended for the core community? Posted Image

Ughh....I want to like this guy. I sometimes see him as misunderstood and sincere and want to believe he has the best of intentions but then I read this stuff and I....I just STRUGGLE to like the guy. He openly craps on the community constantly and craps on the stuff that people liked about Duke and what made him popular and praises his own work that is clearly unpopular. I just can't agree with much of anything he says and I struggle to believe the rest. Le sigh...

Wow that was unbelievable, he even expected us to hype up that poorly done and overpriced World Tour for them and calls us useless for Duke's Future?

Remember how useless we were when DNF2013 was so good it got mainstream news attention and we continued to push how great it was and still is?

I think he means we're useless to Gearbox's version of Duke's future and I guess that's true, we don't just push and support anything, respect is earned.

Randy: World Tour was not designed for the core Duke community.

(World Tour fails)

Randy: WHY DIDN'T THE CORE COMMUNITY HELP PUSH WORLD TOUR!?!?

Why can't people just accept things for what they are and move on and appreciate any effort made. I feel damn lucky we even got DNF and it really is a standout the Gearbox made WT happen, all the other big companies just put HD graphics on their anniversaries and call it a day. Ex: Halo 1 anniversary with Halo Reach MP, dumb idea and not special. Ex 2: Activision has to HDify CoD 4 just help Infinite Warfare sales because they new it was gonna suck. Gearbox kicks ass.

Mighty No. 9 isn't a masterpiece we should all celebrate because Bloody Boobs exists. That's not how it works.

In what universe does Gearbox "kick ass"? More like their ass is getting kicked by any competition they seem to go up against.

Hmm...but they still turn a profit against big ass corporations that could easily buy them out. Thus kick ass.

The only profitable thing Gearbox have made in the last 5 years was Borderlands 2 and that was in 2012.

Even so, they're still here. Plus it doesn't bother me if Duke's current home makes a crappy game here and there but as long as they turn their elves around their good. Besides battle born wasn't as bad as some games made in the past 5 years as people claim.

Yup, they sure are slimy fuckers trying to make a quick buck wherever they can. Too bad the G2A deal didn't work out for them.

The laziness of the final boss alone is enough to show how little they cared about it. I'm not even talking about the graphics of it (which is also extremely lazy), rather that its weapon is completely ineffective, which brings the entire new episode's climax down to nothing.

Does Randy not know about it? Surely it's an easy thing to spot, and should be a pretty easy fix.

Remaster of Bulletstorm was going to have a PC collectors edition done in partnership with G2A. G2A are shit. Randy pleaded ignorance. Not knowing about G2A as a person in that position is unrealistic...he also blamed People Can Fly saying it was their idea which is interesting since Gearbox is publishing it and publishers are responsible for, you know, this exact thing.

Does this mean the PC Collector's Edition is no longer a thing?

He probably wanted you to elaborate what's the deal with G2A and why they're bad. And to put it simply, G2A was caught selling stolen keys.

G2A also thinks that keys scammed from developers via email are perfectly valid for sale on their maketplace.

Once Borderlands 2 took them to the top, Gearbox have been spiraling down hill ever since.
Most of the time they were shown up by another game and company.

- The Colonial Marines disaster was cleaned up by Alien Isolation.
- Battleborn was crushed by Overwatch.
- Bulletstorm's rerelease was overtaken in minutes by Bayonetta's PC port.

The only good thing that came from them between BL2 and now was that Homeworld remaster, at least I think it was good, I never played it.

Borderlands 3 may keep them afloat for a bit more, but they're loosing consumers every day and once loyal Borderlands fans are starting to wise up.

Alien Isolation did better than Colonial Marines, but even it still didnt garnish enough for a sequel. Overwatch will eventually die down once a new WoW expansion comes out. Bayonetta release was bullshit. Once Borderlands 3 comes out theyll kicking ass, as well with maybe a new Brothers in Arms game. And who knows, they make a new IP that will be big. Skies the limit.

An Alien Isolation sequel was at least being discussed over at SEGA and may still be, Gearbox will NEVER be allowed make an Aliens game again.
Battleborn is so barren that Pitchford had to resort to porn to generate some interest, Blizzard knows how to keep games alive so Overwatch is gonna be around for a while.
Bayonetta's rerelease overtook Bulletstorm by 3x the amount of players and is still rising while Bulletstorm is dying out.

Borderlands 3 will give them a kick start, but their decisions will kill them.

Gearbox definitely can't be paying you to shill because you're doing such a bad job of it. Trying to downplay the success of Alien Isolation, trying to say that Blizzard won't still have millions of players across all their games if the outdated WoW gets another expansion and not even trying to explain why Bayonetta is "bullshit". Just stop.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you? That what you're getting at? I may snap back a time or two after being fed only scraps and starved the rest of the time. Like I said, I don't want to be at odds but Randy sometimes just gives us no choice. It might even be the reality of the situation, the way he handles things, but it's the way he treats us and snaps at people. He thinks he's all that and therefore constantly unendingly appears disingenuous and elitist. He thinks he knows how to PR by pretending he's the everyman's pal and buddy who looks out for them and it's so completely untrue and everyone knows it, yet he keeps that facade up like it makes a difference.

I played Aliens Colonial Marines and I thought it was decent. It was also fun in co-op.

I also paid like 5 bucks for it.

While the character itself was the same, the tone of many of the levels was slightly different to that of the original 3 episodes. Take the first level for example, the whole thing is a pretty obvious parody of Mission Impossible. Sure, if the subsequent games had stayed at this level of parody, and kept it in small doses, then it would have been fine. However come to DNF and one of the DLC's is actually called the "parody pack".

Also have a look at the whole sex side of it. There was XXX Stacy, a pretty poor level overall but had you go through a porn shoot. Not to mention Babe Land. It was a decent level but had a parody feel about it. You couldn't imagine a level like that in the original episodes.

While there were certainly sexual references, it was almost entirely contained to that one strip club in one level. The rest of the game was pretty serious, other than the occasional girl in a secret area (not counting the pod babes which is a fairly serious matter). Likewise, most of the references to movies and things like Luke Skywalker, Doomguy, Indiana Jones were in secret areas, NOT shoved in your face unavoidably (you can't get around the "doomed space marine" in Bulletstorm for example).

Like I said if everything had kept at the level of the Birth it would have been fine, however it was certainly the first crack in the floodgates.

I have to echo this. Replayed The Birth a couple of months ago, and shocked how much of my initial love for that episode is gone, and how often some of these parody aspects annoy me. Derelict is the only exception, that was like a lost level from the original 3 episodes.
