Duke Nukem's Bulletstorm Tour  "Randy hinted at something for December 1st"

User is offline   ----

Putting him in Bulletstorm is logical after DNF.

DNF had corridor- and faucet-levels. But Duke was still able to jump over obstacles. Finally they got rid of that too by putting him in Bulletstorm so that even a knee high wall is a dead end for him.

The next step should be that he is put in a game where he cannot move at all.

Actually I wouldn't mind a Duke Nukem 'railshooter'.

Does anyone get the feeling that with Duke's horrible lip syncing, he was actually going to be touring Mass Effect Andromeda before Bulletstorm?

I see, so "Duke Nukem in Serious Sam VR Town" is the next cameo.

I actually had this in my mind.

The sad fact is that the VR game is a side project and Sam gets his own new game* later this year (IIR the release date correctly).

*) Where he can run, strafe, jump, shoot (hopefully not again in egypt or any other sandy environment) and have his own story.

You know, if they really wanted to put Duke in places where he doesn't belong in, they should've just done a Time to Kill/Zero Hour remake/sequel.

I get the feeling that they realized how low effort and out of place their Duke DLC was after they announced it and decided to market it to align with the negative reception it has gotten by 'putting Duke where he doesn't belong!'. It'd be like sitting in a McDonalds eating Pizza Hut. 'Why are you doing this?' 'BECAUSE WHY THE FUCK NOT BITCHHHHH!!!' There's no reason and it's a pretty god damn stupid thing to do but why not? That's Gearbox for you.

Think of it this way. They didn't even make a new character model for Duke. It's ripped straight for Forever. This DLC is nothing more than Jon reading someone elses lines with a model swap. This is as low effort as you could possibly get to the point where I don't understand why they've done it at all. If you really wanted to put Duke in Bulletstorm why not do a half a dozen level cross-over addon bundled with this re-release where Gray and Duke encounter each other or something completely ridiculous like that. Non-canon spin-off style crossover. Could have been cool but way too much effort for Gearbox.

Still hate these ads. Gearbox continues to fuck up the character of Duke Nukem. If they wanted Saints Row style ridiculousness and parody they should have come up with their own franchise instead of warping the 80s action referencing babe saving bad-ass ultimate alien ass-kicker to their vision of a LOL MEMES COMEDY TEEHEE bullshit.

Gearbox is woefully mismanaged. I wonder if anyone has stepped up and pointed out how releasing a low-effort remaster of a commercial failure laden with DRM at full-price with very little new content is an absolutely terrible idea. Price it at $20 and you'd have a deal. Support the community with a DRM free release on GoG? Bundle in mod tools as it's a UE3 title and there's literally no reason you couldn't? No, let's not do that - too much effort.

Heh I liked that one.

I'm pretty sure GBX doesn't want to invest too much into this release, more than they absolutely need to in order to extract some money from the license. Duke is good enough bait for people with too much good faith.

I'm now kinda sad that Interceptor were talking big when they still had the Duke IP ownership and sorta promised that we'd get a cool new PC focused re-release of TTK and the other two console exclusive Duke spinoff games. Knowing this is best Gearbox can offer us though, It's probably now gonna never happen because it would be simply too much effort needed from GB.

*sigh

It seems like they put more effort into producing all of those ads than they put into getting Duke in the game.

One fact that's getting overlooked here is that all of these ads are pushing Duke. Not Bulletstorm. Duke. And I think most of them are funny. You can't fault Gearbox for trying to make Duke relevant to people again by making outlandish ads that don't make sense that feature Duke as the prominent selling point rather than the actual content of the game itself. I think they work on some level. Not on us hardcore fans (clearly), but to everyone else.

I don't think they're worse than the old Duke ads. And yes, its interesting how hard they push the Duke angle in the marketing considering how minor his part is in the game.

Everyone discussing all the ways Pitchford and Gearbox don't understand Duke and how they're lazy you need to remember from the horses mouth.

Thank god they got rid of the phrase "hashtag turnt" from that last ad. Made it 100x more enjoyable for me, honestly.

Yeah that was by far the worst part of the ads. It's like of like that middle aged uncle who tries to say what he thinks young people say in order to appear 'hip' and 'with it'.

Here's my version of the Bulletstorm Remaster trailer. I took the original trailer, and matched it with another, much better in my opinion, song. It's not perfect, but tell me what you think.

Everything surrounding this release is awful even the hashtags. Ironic marketing since they've already put Duke where he doesn't belong...at Gearbox Software with this man..

Duke's dead, baby.

Quote

DualShockers: Is that also kind of a way that Duke could also come back in a new game of his? Is this a way for you guys to gauge interest in bringing him back for a new Duke Nukem game?

Vincent Slaven (Public Relations Manager, Gearbox Publishing): Not so much. It’s pretty much like Meredith said that we were trying to think of things we could add to give more value to the customer: Duke Nukem came about [in Bulletstorm] because they were so similar.

But, kind of in relation to your question, this Full Clip Edition is more or less a way to do that — because People Can Fly own the rights to the franchise fully — and they want to do more with it. And so they are kind of like — because game development is so expensive — they want to put this out to see like “Do people still want Bulletstorm?” Is there like a different climate now that would be more receptive? And if it is, there is definitely, probably gonna be an option for a Bulletstorm 2 following this.

So it’s kind of not related but — Duke Nukem 2… no, but Bulletstorm 2, I think: maybe.

I wonder what kind of excuses they going to make if the game will bomb sales-wise.

It's going to bomb because it's fully priced and it's very unfortunate; Bulletstorm is a damn good game.

Killing two things I want in one swoop. Nice one Gearbox. Bulletstorm 2 is something I have been wanting since the original released - it won't happen if this re-release is a failure and it's going to be a failure because of how they're marketing it and pricing it. I want a new current gen Duke FPS ...well, probably not from Gearbox... and it doesn't seem like that's happening either.

Will this news pissed me off. But I guess us Duke fans have to do what Duke fans do best.......Wait.

We waited 12 years for DNF, we can wait a few more years for Gearbox to crash and burn after more and more gamers stop buying their shit and then Duke will be auctioned off to someone who is guaranteed to do better.
