When I was freezing the red stripper with SD 1.26 it would turn into a blue stripper dancing (not looking frozen)

That's not the fault of the SD_Duke mod but a missing string in the ice definition of the HRP. Your SD_Duke Lite v1.0 uses an now obsolete skin for the frozen stripper, the face of the girl and the dollar note looks different compared to the one of the HRP.

Here's a little addon which fixes the frozen red stripper for the current HRP v4.0 (and inofficial v4.1 beta):
Ice_Fix: download (338 Bytes)

To load it with the HRP use following command line (e.g. edit your Eduke32 shortcut):

Eduke32.exe /gduke3d.grp /gduke3d_hrp.zip /gice_fix.zip

As the SD_Duke mod v1.26 is not affected by this no updated is required.
Blissfully freeze away, and stay cool. :)

Well the red stripper already freezes when SD_Duke isn't loaded.
So I think it's an SD only fix.

All the iced models/textures moved to the HRP.
The red stripper was a bug in the HRP
So it is not needed in SD_Duke

Actually I just double checked.

Red Stripper freezes in HRP 4
Red Stripper freezes in DukePlus
Red Stripper doesn't freeze in SD_Duke 1.26

It's an SD problem.

I made sure to remove the SD mod from all of the above tests, I tested with and without XXX_Pack, and I fought my way to the strip club each time, rather than loading from a save (which could have potentially been an SD save)

So SD_Duke Lite is now on 1.1, removes the frozen, outdated, red stripper, and adds the Deus Ex Ice Fix. (tested, all enemies still freeze properly, and now red stripper freezes the same way HRP 4 red stripper freezes)

You guys are welcome to check as well you know...maybe my HRP 4 is just weirder than most? : (

Duke3D HRP v4.0 and Polymer HRP don't have the problem. Confirmed

I had to clear texture cache. Stupid sd_duke mod :)

The best SD_Duke Lite version is when you just don't use SD_Duke at all. Has always been that way and is always going to be. :)

Stupid Texture Cache*
Which is one reason I have that "feature" disabled.

NightFright...but...the more realistic blood, pain states, and brass/shrapnel/jib stay...
: (
They're what make it worth while.

Even though I don't like SD's jib style with endless meat/no variance.

Well, feel free to use it. I won't touch it. :) And don't blame me if it is not working, because you didn't get it from me and I warned you about its risks. Hehehe... :D

You got it.
If only you hadn't trolled us, it would be working.

Fix it.
Now.
:) :D :D

Honestly/seriously though, I've never had bad glitches with it since the final version. (pain skins have always worked right for me since they fixed the blue trooper bug)
Simply undesirable decals, fire, smoke, debris, and way too much meat/not enough limbs (a couple pieces of meat would be good, but 10 per enemy?!)

There is also another bug with the red stripper:

If you first freeze her and after she is defrosted, you try to shrink her she dies

You can freeze and shrink the other strippers as many times as you want

Excuse me? The texture cache speeds up HRP texture loading by several orders of magnitude. It's a "feature" because it "speeds up texture loading." I guess it could theoretically be slower than just recompressing the textures every time they're loaded, but only if you a) have an extremely fast CPU and :) you're some kind of retard who can't figure out how disk defragmentation works...

It makes my level loading slower, and it doesn't speed up my game play.
I posted more about it in the HRP assets topic.

Unless the code is fixed by someone, I will not bother with SD_Duke. It causes more troubles that it's worth.

I asked and thought all the SD stuff was included in DP, and I think that will be the best way. Why make 2 mods when you can have only 1 that is really wonderfull ? ^^

And SD_duke doesn't compatible with Duke plus......
Maybe someone didn't want to use DP and just want using SD_Duke only. Even DP is better...

I think that if we want to improve SD_Duke we should start learning con coding and look into DukePlus code. :)

What I notice (SD content differences only) is SD has more realistic blood, pain skins, and unfortunately more monotonous jibs.

DukePlus puts way too much in for me, different running, running sounds, you can't disable everything.
And there aren't any pain skins.
DukePlus overwhelms me, and even when I deal with it, and stick it out, and go through all the menu's bit by bit, byte by byte, I can't make it like Duke Nukem 3D with better jibs and brass.

SD almost does this.
It has too many half implemented features like decals, decal sounds, smoke/debris, etc.
Removing them, and making SD a gore, jib, brass, pain skin mod, will give SD a nice defined role as a mod, and as a [violence] feature.

There's also the chance (this just came to be, and please don't flame me) that if SD only did the gore, jibs, brass, pain skins, then it could possibly be used with DukePlus, if DukePlus simply relied on SD for those features.
It could even enter the DP menu as "SD_Duke on/off"

For the record I think SD has better brass stay code, and better blood code.
Though I would like to see the standard eDuke32 blood enabled along with SD's blood, just to see how they look together. (this worked for zDoom, enabling blood particles as well as sprites, to make extra blood effects)
The only place I think both blood enabled wouldn't work is with the splattered wall blood. However, I feel it's worth looking at, because if it does work well, then it's an awesome effect.

I don't think that we can have SD_Duke inside DukePlus. Though, for example the SD_Duke pain skins can be added to DukePlus.

It can't be right now, no.
There are way too many conflictions.

However, if all SD did was brass stay, gore, jibs, what I've been saying etc, and DukePlus didn't have that stuff by default...then they could work together.
Then SD would have a set place in the community, and be a nice little spice up package.

So let's make SD a mod as wanted as DP ^^

Why not set under the pause menu on the left SD_Duke 1.26, like in DP ?

Currently looking into DukePlus code, I'm thinking to create an enable/disable switch for SD_Duke. I don't think that I will succeed (lack of knowledge), nor I have much free time.

It's an odd house where there's no SD_Duke :)

That's a good idea Goofy.

An on/off switch for decals, and smoke/debris would be cool. (Even though personally I'd rather just see them gone from SD Lite)
Would be tough to implement though.

I wish DeeperThought could help us.
That guy's a beast.

Also I think from now on, I'll leave the previous versions around.
That way if we don't get the option thing going, and get the smoke, decals, etc. removed, people can chose which version of SD Lite they want.
