Anyway, looks like for today, there's nothing left for me to do. Out of frustration and boredom, I played a few levels of this excellent Doom 2 mod and decided to call it a day for today.

I might be missing something about the launch being fucked, but what I can see, it was communicated even with individual time zones and was made clear that it is NOT individual country specific launch times.
Honestly, waiting 8-12hrs more potentially due to misunderstanding?
To the game..
In my opinion, the game might sure has it's issues but those are mostly related to new renderer or new art assets/code.
Personally I would have been super excited 10 years ago if even a single new level was done by either LL or AHB, I really have a hard time understanding the hate.
I guess the bashing is understandable because people have been doing duke stuff too much (including me) over the years and learned to spot every mistake, rendering issues, bugs and a lot of us have this vision of a well engineered new episode and a dream team.
But It's not really a fair comparison in my opinion when considering that what GBX pulled here is probably something that would have been shot down last year as a stupid fairytale if someone suggested it casually on a thread, which is pulling AHB/LL/Lee together to make one more chapter like the old days. I definitely didn't see this coming myself.
I really want to play this new episode and see it working under eduke32.
Good thing with this is that the community is more than capable of replacing any jarring code/art issues, and probably will at some point.
But whatever.. I consider buying this as a motivational thumb to keep making more content, I can't really say that I'm a huge fan of all the stuff that GBX has done but I'm really happy to get this.
I think the current situation is still very good compared to that EP5 could have been done quick&dirty by some $studio and ending up somewhere around nuclear winter in terms of quality.

Doesn't help that the last good game they released was a Half-Life expansion almost 20 years ago.

I'm not going to buy it at 20€ . I will wait for a discount offer.
I can pay 20€ or even 30€ but for a retail BOX release. Is there such a possibility?
Also, I'm waiting for opinions/reviews about the game.

This whole debacle with the release has just killed the buzz though. There was no announcement. If they had said at the beginning that there were problems, then fine. Stuff happens. Hey, maybe they were trying to fix some problems before release. I'd be happy with that. But just nothing and the countdown problems (Gabe can't count to three and Gearbox can't count down), it's just taken all the fizz out of the champagne. Sigh.
With all the crap and mistakes with the reveal and the release (how do you fuck up both of those on one title?), I don't want to be told about any Gearbox Duke stuff till I walk into a shop and see it on the shelf. It's not worth the disappointment.
