Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour

I keep track of the troll voters too, as it tends to be the same people every time. I tend to be suspicious of moderation because having seen other forums that follow the same trend, it tends to be punks who are younger and use their mod permissions to belittle those that they feel intimidated by.

As far as this countdown goes, I'm pretty sure they have more up their sleeve than a Duke3D port. It seems like a lot of hype just for another release of Duke3D, even with a new episode. After seeing that "PRE-ORDER" button that was discovered on the Duke Nukem website, it's looking like they may have a new game ready to tease. Good or bad, I'm honestly a little more interested in seeing what they're doing there rather than this Duke3D port.

It's good to hear that! Keep positive! I know of a fella that had really bad lung cancer and it looked like he wasn't going to make it! But they were able to remove it! And he just went to his kids wedding and looked good! So chin up!
Anyone know if the panel will be "live" or on YouTube?

MIDI is pretty much dead as a format used in shipping products, yeah.

I loved Ash Vs Evil Dead, and I wish a new Duke game would do something like that, but I honestly don't see the connection with DNF Duke, other than the fact that DN3D Duke was loosely based on the original Ash. In Ash VS Evil Dead, Ash is WAY past his prime and lives in a trailer park, but fundamentally remained the same and is the only one who can save the situation. DNF Duke is at the top of his prime and is still taken seriously by the world around him.
This being said, I wouldn't expect much of a story for a new DN3D episode. There may not even be a new intro video. As for "writing", it will probably only be for loose, disjoint one-liners and jokes. I doubt they'd ask a pro writer for that.

And yet I hope that, if the musics are midi played through a random soundfount and converted to ogg, they also put the original midi files with it. It's hopeless I know, but Wrack had midi played through a terrible soundfout, and no midi files, which ruined everything.
This being said, I'm probably not the only musician here who has already made his own midi file out of a song.

I wouldn't expect anything else from Brad Carney.
On the N64, pretty much any game that had music (with some exceptions) was using a MIDI-like system that actually sounds kind of like how MOD music works, where you're providing both the instrument samples and also programming the instructions that are the songs due to the very limited space on the cartridges and probably the amount of CPU it would have taken to decode something like an MP3 without a dedicated chip just to handle that. A good article to read on it is a Dan Hess interview where he talks about the experience of programming the music for Pilotwings 64. It would seem this music system lives on in Nintendo's later consoles right up to current-day?

I think of how the music for the original Shadow Warrior was straight off Lee Jackson's SC-88 setup, but they would have been limited by the number of redbook audio tracks they could put on the CD. Since everything has been digital music for many many years it would be interesting if they had new mixes of the game's soundtrack with some new/unused music for the new episode.
(Please just give us ITSGREEN.MID,)
When you think of Duke3d TCs, which ones do you think nailed the soundtrack? I thought BDP/Level Infinity's The Gate and Secrets of The Acropolis both had fantastic soundtracks that I listen to outside of the game. Duke Caribbean had a good one as well on the for-profit side of the Duke add-ons.

Indeed, a new Duke 3D port + episode doesn't really seem to warrant a countdown leading up to only a pre-order, or pre-ordering at all. On the other hand that not-meant-to-be-public Wordpress page does say "2015" on the bottom so maybe it's outdated or just leftovers from a template.

If it wasn't for the leak and the information we already know, this looks like a countdown to a brand new game to the general public. So I'm betting that it is a teaser for Duke 5 + World Tour as a snack while we wait. If not, then the leak was intentional to keep expectations tame.

I'd like it if this tease would also include Duke 5 in it, because I'm still kinda sour from DNF.

Yeah, exactly. I don't think they'd be that reckless with hyping up expectations after the lesson learned from DNF. I'm kinda leaning towards immediate release of World Tour + announcement of a new game.
Unless, as you say, the leak was intentional to keep expectations down. But really - a countdown leading up to a reveal during their PAX (was it?) show all for a re-release of a 20 year old game that was until a couple months ago already available? Sounds way excessive.

You're reading too far into Jimmy's post. Are you not familiar with his level of hyperbole? It's a rhetorical device. Recently I shut down a debate between him and The Commander on a Facebook post of mine because Jimmy mentioned gas chambers and the word "retard" was getting thrown around too much for my polite friends to appreciate.
I'm sorry for your mom, but it really is your own choice to take his post personally. The message he is conveying is on point. That's why I upvoted him.

We're just not looking at it the same way, gonna have to agree to disagree. It's not like I'm unfamiliar with people saying wildly offensive stuff as a gag. If you're trying to be offensively funny, you can do better. If you want to discuss something, you can do it better. Telling people to get cancer for preferring one video game over another? That's not good, period. Upvoting that in my opinion, is bad. It's not on point, even if you do prefer that video game strongly. We're people having a friendly community about something we like.
Hanging out with your friends, would you just blurt out I hope you get cancer etc for an opinion? And even so, with a friend, surely you'd do it in a humorous way even if you attempted something that ridiculous. He didn't include some smily or something and there was nothing friendly in the tone, he was just conveying his opinion in an immature way as another post put it. In other words, he's behaving poorly and being a jerk. Ideally, people are nice to eachother and express ideas in a way that makes for an enjoyable stay on this forum (like most posters do).

Surely if they were just gonna throw up the same old versions as before they could have done it by now. Were they waiting for 3D to go first, are they not gonna bother with them at all (seems stupid if they could just sell them as-is) or are they intending to do something else with those titles as well?

I saw nothing wrong with his post ( my father died of it and didn't bat an eye reading that ). It's an old saying, adage, phrase, whatever thats been used very often. If anything he's guity of lack of imagination.
Hopefully we don't need to be walking on egg shells here so we don't hurt the snowflakes.

I mostly agree with your points. People need to keep in mind though that when you use an expression like that, it's easy to think of cancer as "some random thing that some people get", but your personal attitude may change dramatically if someone in your close family were to die or otherwise have an extreme decrease in quality of life as a result of cancer.
Obviously no action should be taken, it's a forum on the Internet, we have free speech, and he was just using hyperbole. I just think we need to appreciate where PsychoGoatee is coming from and that telling people to not be affected by recent possible traumatic events like flicking a switch doesn't work.
I suppose we're all just used to it from all the excessive political correctness going on
