Shadow Warrior (1997) Physical CD Questions

I wasn't sure where else to post this, but since SW was a Build engine game like Duke, I figured it's the right place to ask.

Question for those who own Shadow Warrior (1997)'s physical CD:

1) Is it a mixed-mode CD? (https://en.wikipedia...i/Mixed_Mode_CD)
2) Does it have a CD check on startup of the game in DOS, like the CD for Duke Nukem Atomic Edition 1.5 does?

[And regarding the 2nd question, I know it has a source port and can find that, before anyone asks].

Not to be rude but in your link it actually lists Shadow Warrior.

Yea, I just realized that, but my 2nd question's still valid.

It doesn't have a CD check like Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition does (thankfully!) but it does require you to have CD in drive to enable music. Otherwise you won't hear music at all.

The MIDI fallback music doesn't work without the CD? That doesn't seem right.

There are only midis for the shareware version of the game. The midis for the other tracks were either not made or not released.

There is no MIDI music in the full version of Shadow Warrior. Only the shareware version was shipped with a few midi tracks.

I must be thinking of some other game from the era... Hexen II and Descent II had redbook audio and MIDI fallback...

Weirdly Blood has no counterparts between the MIDI and the CDDA, except for a few particular tracks.

Where did the midis come from that are in SWP? Are those just shareware tracks?

Read the bat file in the music folder. It might give a hint.

I don't see any file in there other than midis.. Just give me the answer, I'm not up for a where's waldo at the moment..

I don't play any of the games with the music on anyways, it's distracting.
Unless of course you count the heretic map (e1m1) that I converted to Sw and enjoy playing it with the original midi from heretic.

By the way, thanks to everyone in the thread who responded to my inquiry.

I assumed we would have identical files but I guess not. My SWP Music folder has 16 midi files and the Copymids.bat file which is this:
@echo off

rem REMOVE THE NEXT LINE WHEN PATHS HAVE BEEN SET!!
goto bad

Rem - Set the path to your CD
set source=D:\Goodies\Midi

Rem - Set the path to your music folder
set destination=C:\Swp\Music\

rem title
copy %source%\OKINOWWA.MID %destination%\theme.mid

rem
rem Please note that the LEVEL2 and LEVEL3
rem file names are reversed, because that is
rem how it appears in the JFSW source code.

Ok, thanks Marky, I was pretty sure Sw Retail had midi music. That's why Daedolon's comment confused me.
