On this idea is based the fantastic mini-episode New Alone In The Dark aka Caleb does a trip to Derceto.

Thanks for clarifying. Also, are Blood and its 2 expansion packs in that release patched to their respective latest versions?

I believe the last patch 1.21 is referred to as the One Whole Unit Blood patch so yes, fully.

Could you please elaborate?
BTW, which version was the first registered version? v1.0 or higher?

Only someone who has access to the sourcecode and who has already made some sort of deal with the right owner with crowdfunding as backup could start a crowdfunding with some sort of base to it.
Also I am sure that, in this day and age, everyone who has tried to acquire the rights to Blood (=several publishers and devs in the past few years) have thought of the possibility of crowdfunding already.... But IIRC Atari is asking like 1 million or some bullshit unreachable amount.
Jace is nuts. This is just cocktease.
I still find it amazing that, among others,
Wolfenstein 3D
Doom and its sequels
Rise of the Triad
Duke Nukem 3D
Shadow Warrior
Descent 1 and 2
and many other FPSes from the 1990s had their source codes released, yet not Blood. I don't get Atari's reluctance to do it. It has been common practice for at least 2 decades. Are the people who run Atari really that stubborn? From a business perspective, I also can't see why they're asking for so much money for a dead franchise.
Very, very strange.

*no GPL license or headers to be found*
ugh misinformation. and the misleading cobbling of the old public mod SDKs assuming they're full source code

Heh, that's what they are? (I never actually looked at the code) If so, that's made reading about some of the "issues" they encountered hilarious

So ultimately, if a way could be found to raise the money to buy the Blood IP from Atari, whoever buys it could theoretically release Blood's source code if he/she so wanted?

If Atari sold full rights to the IP and the source code was still around then it could be released after things like smaker got removed out of the code.

and i'm pretty certain Atari only has distribution rights while the IP is held by WB Games. why does every blood thread get the same insanity goldfish detective work and petition ambitions

I only asked my question because I genuinely did not understand the financial aspect of the Blood IP. Thanks for the links regardless, though.
