I'm not so sure about that because BW 5.0 looked like something that's very different from Brutal Doom (it's a lot more tactical with longer reload times and also a lot more "twitchy", it really emphasized fast aim and a good use of corners) but I think BD64 is a good indication that Sarge can do different stuff too so we'll see.

Anyway as for Brutal Doom that project will be finished too when v21 and Extermination Day comes out, that will be the last release.

Wait, where did u get this. This can't be true.

I don't know where he got that from but to be fair, I have been getting that vibe. Mark's technically been working on EDay since like, what, 2006? 2009? Whenever Armageddoom came out? A lot of what would eventually go into BD was in there too. Plus with his map enhancement script, balance changes, and the death of random damage, it does kinda sound like he doesn't know where else to go, and that he's taken Doom as far as he can.

Well he can change his mind for whatever reason in the future but that's what he's been telling people: v21 is the big one, the last release. He is polishing the shit out of it and wants to move on, nothing wrong with that so expect v21 to be "final" with only minor stuff like bugfixes and - in the case new GZDoom releases break the mod - compatibility stuff coming afterwards. The same goes for BD64.

Well it does make sense now that i have seen his twitter post about taking over Brutal Wolfenstein after he is done with BD and Eday.. After all simultaneously developing multiple mods is probably too much for one guy to handle.
I have yet to play Brutal Wolfenstein but lets see what direction SgtMarkIV gives to this mod.

That he isn't going to work on it much after can only be good news for BW. I'm quite optimistic.

ModDB Link

My five level pack for Wolfenstein shareware. I hadn't made any levels for the game in over a decade and decided to give it a shot. The final map is a remix of the original boss level. I turned up the difficulty a tad. Posted Image

No new art save for the main menu.

Just found this project where people redraw Wolf3D sprites in higher resolution, in a very professional manner:
https://forum.zdoom....hp?f=37&t=52873

Both the original PC low-res sprites and the Mac incomplete high-res sprite sheets are used for reference. Not sure if this is already implemented as a ECWolf mod but that would be very neat.

I'm glad they didn't go the full Mac style route, but even still... I always found the faces on the Mac sprites absolutely hideous.

Sorry, the article is German, but I will summarize:

Bethesda and the USK* evaluate if the international version of Wolfenstein 2 will/can be released officially in Germany.

And the BPJM decided that the international version of Wolfenstein 2 won't be put onto the so called "index" (where media harmful to people under 18 is put. Media on that index must not be advertised in public (like you cannot advertise hardcore porn in public, for example)). Reason for both: The game isn't Nazi propaganda as it is made clear that the hero fights evil Nazis.

It's looking good so far. After this new development, it's unlikely that any state attorney will consider an endictment for publishing the uncut US version in Germany.

Questions remain:
1) Will Bethesda have the balls to go through with it since some risks remains?
2) What about previous releases (TNO and TOB)?

Still, this could be a milestone in Germany. Swastikas in games still won't be allowed in general. Multiplayer shooters that allow you to play as an SS soldier without any context still won't have a chance. It's all about the setting and whether it's clear that nazis are bad. Nobody can say that Wolfenstein 2 is e.g. glorifying Hitler. He's a senile madman who's pissing himself.

In January the BPjM (German authority testing games and other media for content dangerous for young people) will issue a statement regarding this case. It's gonna be exciting.

Yeah, it's terrible. But as we aren't some undereducated teenage girls we aren't the target audience.

Interesting part about this for Germans: The Steam pre-order page does not mention this game is going to be cut or altered in any way. This means it may be the first Wolfenstein game ever to be released with swastikas in Germany. A milestone. Quality of the game may be a different matter, though.

Brilliant how they've raised this series from the ashes only to bury it miles deep to where no one will wanna touch it ever again.

Man, they are just milking this franchise... The New Order was okay... (it was no RTCW) but now they're just releasing the same things over and over... Just like the Far Cry series...

Did anyone think releasing new games in rapid succession would result in high quality productions?

I dunno, guys, to me it looks like a fun little spin off and Arkane's involvement gives me confidence that it's not a rush job. I agree that the guy who wrote the dialogue should be fired but that was already the case with TNC so shrug.

But on to the truly important question: which one of the girls will be the mother of Commander Keen?

Update:
Baaaah, they just added "English language not supported" to the Youngblood page. This means it's going to be locked to German language again for users with German IP. Which means censorship - yay! I thought these times were behind us...

Does it matter? The connection was fucked up right from the beginning. The only official material that links B.J. and Keen is the Wolfenstein 3-D Hint Manual, which claims that Arthur Kenneth Blazkowicz (B.J.'s son) married Susan Elizabeth McMicheals and "they had one son", which they named William Joseph Blazkowicz II (a.k.a. Billy Blaze a.k.a. Commander Keen). I think the phrasing in the Hint Manual implies that Billy was their only son, which doesn't really make sense since Commander Keen's football helmet actually belongs to Billy's brother (which is mentioned in the story texts of Commander Keen 1, 2, 3, 4 and Keen Dreams).

They can afford to not make the connection, New Order, Old Blood and New colossus are alternative universe and not the same timeline of wolfenstein 3D where Blazkowicz is his grandpa. Another connection that probably does not exist in the new games timeline is B.J. Blazkowicz III aka DOOM marine guy from DOOM RPG 1 and 2 (that is no Flynn Taggart from the novels) as direct descendent of Blazkowicz that killed the Harbinger in Wolfenstein RPG which later will become the Cyberdemon (unless this connection exist only inside the RTCW timeline, where Billy Blaze future existence it's simply unknow).

So, for now, if you want a Billy Blaze connection you have to imply: Commander Keen saga > Wolfenstein 3D/SOD > DOOM > DOOM II > Wolfenstein RPG (maybe) > DOOM RPG I/II (maybe) > DOOM 2016 and unavoidably DOOM 2019

Moreover, one of the reasons why ID inserted the Commander Keen easter eggs in DOOM II and DOOM 2016 in that particular way is due by the fact that the company didn't want to hear about the saga anymore at the time, infact they dropped the development of The Universe Is Toast trilogy. Another difficulty is that if they want to do a remake of Commander Keen, peraphs making it born in the new Wolfenstine timeline, how would they adapt the plot coherent with the darker and grittier tone of the past games?

I think it was less a canon thing and more of an easter egg thing. I don't really believe it was intentional for all those characters to be related. It was just a silly joke easter egg.

I've enjoyed the last three games in the series immensely, and this looks like it'll a great continuation of this universe. Especially since it is strongly hinted that a "full" third game set between TNC and this may yet occur.

I must say, between this, Rage 2, Doom Eternal, Far Cry New Dawn, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, Serious Sam 4 and whatever comes this year for Call of Duty, it's looking to be an awesome year for FPS carnage. And what better way to really ring out the last full year for the current console generation but with titles such as these?

Is it just me or the gameplay shown indeed doesn't look very exciting?
