Just found this little review of Duke Nukem 3D that includes a pre-release screenshot from Shadow Warrior which can also be found here, but in GIF quality.

A preview of Hexen II: the Portal of Praevus from a somewhat obscure website, with some screenshots intact:
http://bird.taponline.com/eidolon/previews/pc/hexen2mission.html

The same site also has a preview of SiN:
http://bird.taponline.com/eidolon/previews/pc/sin.html

No exact publication date is provided for the article but it seems to be from mid-to-late-1997. Not all screenshots have been preserved.

Trucks is a quite obscure almost open-world 1997 DOS/Windows game developed by Microfolie's and published by Microïds. What is it? Substantially Big Rigs that works, and most of the things it should have been. I am not aware that it was highly publicized but there is this promo for the italian version (strangely sold together with an album of soccer related songs) which ingame radio boasts the participation of the famous and still active DJ Albertino.

Translation of the spot, just for those who are curious:

TRUCKS.

The real toughs of the street compete at the wheel with the heavier vehicles of the galaxy.

TRUCKS.

This delirious universe will make you sweat, you will eat dust, you will breath gasoil.

TRUCKS, with the voice of DJ Albertino of Radio Deejay and Soccer Compilation at an incredible price: 59.000 + postage.

DJ Albertino voice fragment from the ingame radio: But it isn't fantastic all this?

But you will not find this offer in the stores, you have to phone at the number that you see overlay. The CD-Roms are original, this offer is valid until stocks last.

Link Multimedia: Fun at pure state.

Hmm, the page that you have linked to doesn't have this shot which I was referring to. Also why did you put all screenshots together into one image and JPEG-compress them?

A while ago I submitted all Shadow Warrior screenshots I know about to the promo art section at MobyGames. However some images from your page seem unfamiliar. Were they bundled with some registered release of another Apogee/3D Realms game? (Would be nice if your page mentioned the source of these images, if only to establish the date of their publication.)

NORMALITY, 1996 3D first-person graphical adventure developed and published by Gremlin Interactive. Published by Interplay for North America.

Official Trailer

Promo Video

The more detailed promo video contains a sorta of "hoax", when Dai appears (the man in yellow coat) you can see a rendered model that moves with fluidity while he talking to you but in reality, like in the rest of the game, excluding cinematics ALL the characters and objects are classic stop-motion animation sprites obtained from models, the great majority are even one-sided without rotation.

Interesting fact about voice acting: They made two different versions of the english dub, one american and one United Kingdom (this has been also distributed around Europe where only the manual was translated. The only foreign version completely localized it's the german version)

Follow playtroughs to make a comparison by yourself. Personally I prefer UK.

US dub

I had just posted the images I had come across, they can or could have been found on various sites on the way back machine.

Right, that's because I was completely oblivious to the existence of the interactive gallery on that page with JavaScript turned off :P Apologies.

It's still a good idea to document sources even if they're secondary. Nyerguds' Command & Conquer beta gallery is a perfect example:

Well, it's true I could have documented some things more thoroughly.. but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more thorough Shadow Warrior Website :P
I've pissed more time of my life into that game than I'd like to admit.

The 10mb per file limit on the free account is kind of a pain in the arse. I'd have all the shareware versions up there if I could.

Gah, there goes my idea to suggest mirroring shadowwarrior.com and the Apogee/3D Realms development pages in their entirety :-\

I wish I could save them all :P

Though I do have the development updates here
There seems to be different sets of development updates floating around the web which is kind of annoying.

Just found what appears to be the earliest pages of Fallout at Interplay's website:
http://www.interplay.com:80/gurps/

The game is still called Fallout: A GURPS Post Nuclear Adventure.

Awesome find, I think I've seen some of this before in a magazine scan but in lower quality. Will you contribute these to MobyGames?

Some GamesDomain previews and reviews featured official screenshots, although it appears that the site tried to use own screenshots whenever possible. The only way to determine official stuff for sure is to use external sources like game packaging, magazine articles/ads or other websites. Some examples:

As usual, previews are more likely to contain official images, but again, some are based on pre-release demo versions (either public or press only) and may contain screenshots by the GD staff from these versions.

Lots of screenshots from early LucasArts' Star Wars games (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault 1 & 2) can be found here:
http://www.lucasarts.com/images/sw/

Curiously most of them seem to be not used on any of the pages at the site which were archived.

I will mention it in the timeline, but the focus of the site will be the game that was in development from 1995 to 2006.

I have been trying to find a copy of that game for some time now, there's very little information about it anywhere :D

Years ago I found an archive that was labelled as "Prey+Mobile+(SmartPhone).rar" and I archived it into my Prey archive, but I never tried it. I don't even know what kind of smartphone it's supposed to be compatible with (surely not iPhone, because MachineWorks Northwest mentions Prey Mobile way before mentioning the release of Prey Invasion on iPhone).
All I know is that the archive contains two files: one is called setup.exe and the other is called PreySetup.msi (18918 KB), and if I open PreySetup.msi with 7zip, I can extract these files:

An MSI is an windows installer file, it's an database file, and 7zip just extracted the tables. If you can send me the MSI file, i can take a deeper look for what is really inside.
My assumption is, that it is maybe a game for Windows CE, which came as sometimes as an MSI file. You had to install them via Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center.

The setup.exe is just an wrapper, which calls the windows installer, i guess. This is a very common.
