Beetlejuice 2

This is what we know at that point :
-Tim Burton will direct
-Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows,...) is writing the script
-Mickael Keaton and Winona Ryder are reprising their respective roles of Betelgeuse and Lydia Deetz
-The story is set in present days, 27 years later actually, by the way it's not a direct sequel (to quote Seth Grahame-Smith : "In the afterlife time means nothing, but in the real world it's another story")
-The movie should start shooting before the end of the year, within 3 month actually (Tim Burton just have to finish filming "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children")

Everything seems to be going in the good way to that point, so I think we have good reasons to be enthusiastic !
Besides, the movie will even attract (very) young audiances... according to an anecdote from Winona Ryder, in present days, little children (who have seen the original movie) are still comming up to her and asking her if she is the girl they have seen in the movie (these children have never seen the 80s or 90s) !

Besides :
-Tim Burton have accepted because the script from Seth Grahame-Smith is good
-Mickael Keaton have accepted because Tim Burton have accepted
-Winona Ryder have accepted because both Tim Burton and Mickael Keaton have accepted (she love them both)... understandably because she have stopped running after fame (and money) for the last 15 years (since her incident and legal issues of december 2001 actually), and because Lydia Deetz is her favorite character she have ever played (with Veronica Sawyer in the movie HEATHERS she have played in the year after BEETLEJUICE)

Winona Ryder confirm she is working with Tim Burton on this sequel, how touched she is by the fact little children still come up to her in present days and her reluctences to say the B word 3 times :

Have you heard of "Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian" (the cancelled sequel of the 90s) ?

Yep, I heard Kevin Smith talk about that on a podcast once, apparently they were kicking that script around a lot in the 90s. Would've been awesome I'd imagine.

Actually, this sequel was about the Deetz familly moving to Hawai to create an entertainment resort on an isolated island... Lydia being a College student and gonna meet Betelgeuse again by coïncidence (asking his services)... Among other !

http://www.cracked.c...-movies_p2.html

The first draft was made in 1990, but the script from Jonathan Gems was kinda bad :
-bad remake of the first movie (without the Maitlands) for the first half of the movie
-bad sequel for the second half in a context that remind us the alien invasion in MARS ATTACKS ! (Tim Burton - 1996), the kind of context very well know by Duke Nukem / Lo Wang / Bombshell ...

3 writers have been approached to rewrite it from 1991 to 1996 (Daniel Waters, Pamela Anderson and Kevin Smith) but all of them flattly refused, considering everything have been said in the first movie.. by the way Tim Burton have progressively lost all interest in doing this sequel !

Finally, the last nail on the coffin came in march 1997 when Winona Ryder was considered too old to reprise her role of Lydia Deetz (back then she was 25 and on the set on ALIEN RESURRECTION) !

We would like to say : "Fortunately it didn't happen... in these circumstances" , the script is in a desk covered by a great amount of dust an will never see the light of the day !

For the present sequel writen by Seth Grahame-Smith that is happening, the most interesting rumor (amongst the few that exist at this point) is...

...Chloë Grace Moretz is rumored to play Lydia's daughter, and that sound really plausible if you consider that she ressemble a lot to Winona Ryder when she played in the movie back then, and if you consider that Tim Burton was really satisfied by her performance in DARK SHADOWS back in 2012 !

Very recently, Alyssa Milano revealed she was very close to get the role of Lydia Deetz in the original Beetlejuice movie but Winona Ryder finally got it (much to her dismay)...
Perhaps she could get a role in the sequel...

This is how "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" would probably have looked like (Episode 26 of season 4 of the series) :

As Tim Burton says : The movie will happen but it's "quality first", everything have to be right !
As Beetlejuice is not a DC Comics character, it doesn't cry for a sequel in order to make it a trilogy !

I think we have good reasons to be optimistic !

A statement from Tim Burton, full of common sense :

“I would love to do it, but it’s a special thing. I love Michael [Keaton] and I love Winona [Ryder] and I love the characters. But I already pissed off enough people. I just want to do it right, if it’s right.”

“I’ve done films where I’ve planned it and it didn’t happen and it’s quite traumatic, I just want to treat things as fluid as possible. So it’s something that I would like to do but I want to try to do it in a way that really doesn’t piss everyone off, destroy the first, or whatever.”

Look like Warner Bros gave the writing/rewriting of the Beetlejuice 2 script to Mike Vukadinovich ("Rememory"), Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are still producers :

By reading the comments on the internet, peoples seems to trust much more Mickael Keaton and Winona Ryder to play their roles than Tim Burton to direct...

Winona Ryder is there supersticious because she don't even dare to say the B word 3 times until there is an anouncement on the begining of the production of this sequel, but at the airport she have to under the threat of the tazers ^^ !

I think the next anouncement about Beetlejuice 2 development will come within 3 month... as this last one come 30 years after the production of the first movie, the release date of the first movie was March 30 1988

Have anyone seen the musical recently ?
Good reviews for sure and will keep us occupied until Beetlejuice 2 is released... if it doesn't give them ideas or courage in proceeding, I don't know what they need
